Google Nexus 6 :: Setting Ringtones For Calls And Texts
Feb 7, 2015I've switched from an iPhone 4s to the Nexus 6 a month ago. I'm loving the android! I've noticed there are some challenges with setting ringtones for text messages from my contacts. I still can't figure how to do this. Am I missing something? Apple sure made it easy so I am wondering why android makes it so difficult for those that are new to the android world.

Dec 9, 2013I forgot my lock pattern, and even though I've tried the wrong pattern about 80 times by now, the "forgot pattern" button won't show up.I know my gmail address and password, so that's not a problem, I just have no way to enter it.When I've tried to lock my phone with a password using the android device manager I got a message saying that a lock request has been sent, but right after that it says "We could not lock your device. Please try again."I've also tried turning it off and on again, hoping that it'd be unlocked after I've entered my pin, but it's still locked.While I know that I might end up having to reset it.

Mar 19, 2014I bought a Nexus 5 at the weekend and I can't stop it from vibrating when a call or SMS comes in. I have a vibrate off in settings > sound > call and ringtone vibrate and also in Hangout settings but it vibrates anyway.
I've posted screen shots below showing my settings. Regardless of this it's vibrating anyway.

Dec 10, 2013Under Settings/Sound, I have Vibrate on touch checked. I use SwiftKey and under those settings I also have it checked to vibrate on keyless but still nothing. I tried using the stock keyboard in case it's a SwiftKey issue but that doesn't vibrate either.
I just realized the phone doesn't vibrate at all, even for calls. When I set the ringer to vibrate, it's just quiet. Guess it's a hardware issue.

I notice in vibrate only that different types of notifications have different vibrate patterns, but I don't know if they're tied to the audible notification or by notification type (email, text, or general?).
It would be nice in the winter when walking outside to be able to tell what the notification is without having to pull the phone out of my pocket. Usually a winter coat or just outside noise drowns out the audible notification.

Jan 28, 2015Updated to Lollipop last night and frustratingly I am now getting the same vibration notification for everything where as before it was for example 2 shorts vibrates for texts, 1 long vibrate for emails etc. Because I use my phone mainly on vibrate I need this so I know what kind of alert I am getting in my poket.

Jan 21, 2015I have an LG G3 and I was having some issues with the audio jack on it. I contacted LG and they said that since it is still under warranty I can mail it out to them, but my phone will be away for at least a week. I get called frequently from my work and thought if I set up Google Voice on it perhaps I would be able to at least receive messages on our Samsung Tab S 10.5. I went to Google Voice and set it up using my existing number with the Google Voice on Sprint.
It went through no problem, I was able to verify the phone and everything. Thing is, my fiance and I share the same tablet and when I looked at the call forwarding email, I realized it was to my fiance's email and not to me. I had accidentally signed up for Google Voice for my phone under his email account. So I went to disable Google Voice on Sprint after waiting 15 minutes or so for all the services to fully implement and tried to set it up under my email. I got to the verifying the phone number part, hit call me now, and nothing would go through. I tried several times and still nothing. I tried making a call from my phone and it says "we could not complete your call, please try again".
I called Sprint and explained everything to them. We went through several steps of resetting and reactivating the phone and still nothing. Whenever somebody tries to call me they get the same message "we could not complete your call, please try again." It shows that I'm connected to the network service no problem on Sprint's end and that something with Google Voice is locking me out. What am I supposed to do? I've gone through both my fiance's and my account and removed all traces of my phone number, hoping that I would be able to reset it but still nothing.
Both accounts for Google Voice say that we need to get a Google number and that there is no number associated with either accounts. I really don't know what to do as my phone is doing the lights on nobody home sort of thing. I can still use the internet with wifi no problem and can even use the mobile data to do searches on the Internet, I just can't make or receive calls or messages.

May 17, 2014when my phone is asleep and I get incoming notifications whether they be texts, emails, notifications, etc my screen does not turn on briefly to alert me, only the notification light blinks. Is this normal or is there a setting on my phone that is not enabled correctly? I kinda don't like this, I'm use to my phone briefly turning it's screen on when incoming alerts hit my device (coming from an iPhone.)
