I have Nexus 5 with Marshmallow 6.0, I forgot the screen pattern and now i can not access it even with my gmail account. I dont want to loose any of my data.

I can access every area in settings accept the lock screen session. When I try to enter the lock screen session it gives me the "unfortunately, settings has stopped message."

View 2 Replies View Relateddkotoric has realised this is due to using the double tap to sleep function on some launchers. Locking your device with that prevents the fingerprint scanner from allowing access for some reason. So today was my first full day with the 6P. It's a truly great device. A whole bunch of times though when I've come to unlock the device I've had to put in my pattern because it won't accept the fingerprint scanner.
The icon at the bottom of the lock screen that should be a fingerprint is just a lock symbol. If I then lock the phone again and reunlock it works as expected. Not sure if this is a software bug or some setting I've got wrong. Can't see a pattern for when it does it though. I've switched 'require pattern on restart' off which has made no difference.
After I unlock the screen, instead of landing in one of the 7 home pages, it shows the telephone screen.

Well not the camera but the camera loading screen is up. It gets stuck like that until I shut the screen off. It doesn't happen if I have a pattern lock or a pin luck. I did a safe boot and now since then, it no longer asks me to unlock it upon turning the phone on. It just asks me to unlock it after it boots to the main screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI reflashed all the factory images to my Nexus 6P (except userdata), and then restored a TWRP backup of the data partition. This worked, my phone boots up and obviously has my installed apps, etc. But... on the Nexus 6P when you restart the phone you have to enter your lock pattern or PIN. My phone was previously configured with a pattern. It seems the TWRP data backup didn't backup the lock pattern, because it doesn't recognize my pattern.
My fingerprint is recognized, but on the Nexus 6P you still have to enter the lock pattern or PIN when you first reboot. So, I have no way to get into the phone. I tried setting a new lock screen password with Android Device Manager, but it doesn't work. I still get the screen asking for the lock pattern. Is there any way I can get into my phone without blowing away all the data?
I have data roaming disabled but my phone (Nexus 5) is still using data when I'm roaming. The only way I've found to prevent this is to turn off cellular data entirely. Why this is happening? What I want is for my phone to use data when on my carrier's network but not when roaming.

The only thing that bothers me is that I need to save my power button (random power off issue when pressing power button, may fail completely in near future). Right now I am using gravity screen app to use my proximity sensor to wake the device. This does not work all the time. I end up using the power button.I know almost all the custom rom out there supports volume rocker to wake. But I dont want to move to custom rom. So the way is to root. So here is my question

I am already unlocked and rooted, but I would like to relock the bootloader assuming that I can unlock it for future updates without losing data. The Nexus 5 had a boot locker app in the App Store which allowed this, but I do not find an option for the 6 P.

I don't really care about custom ROMs, but there are a few root apps I would like to use.
For example, I'd like to enable touch to wake. That would make the phone perfect for me.
But I just do not want to brick the phone.
So I tried to use the Nexus Root Toolkit to sideload the OTA, but now when I try to boot my phone it just shows the white google screen and doesn't do anything. I can use ADB and fastboot and get into the bootloader but I can't flash the factory image because I never checked the "Allow OEM Unlock" tick since I didn't plan on unlocking the bootloader.

I am able to access the bootloader and have already tried to wipe cache and performed factory data reset but the phone is still stuck on the boot animation. Able to set up face unlock. Seems to work. Front facing camera works fine as well. However a few days later I try to use front facing camera, it locks up, including trying to change face with face unlock. I turn face unlock off and front facing camera is back again.
i didn't opened unlock pattern n try to answer the question had been select by me. but, i try and try again still cannot be opened. the problem cause through my sis. she try to opened my phone but didn't know unlock pattern.
