View 1 RepliesSince upgrading to 5.0 I've had this weird issue with the lock screen. When I turn my screen on before I even get a chance to unlock the phone the camera is up. Well not the camera but the camera loading screen is up. It gets stuck like that until I shut the screen off. It doesn't happen if I have a pattern lock or a pin luck. But I just want the slide to unlock fair.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy phone used to ask me to unlock to start the android operating system when I would turn it on and after it booted up. I did a safe boot and now since then, it no longer asks me to unlock it upon turning the phone on. It just asks me to unlock it after it boots to the main screen.
Which is the norm? And if its normal to ask to unlock when it first turns on, how can I get that to come back? I'm stock/not rooted.
I have Nexus 5 with Marshmallow 6.0, I forgot the screen pattern and now i can not access it even with my gmail account. I dont want to loose any of my data.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is a similar post entitled " PC recognizes Nexus but then I can't access my storage". None of the solutions offered seem to apply to my situation. This is a new problem for me as I have previously had no difficulty connecting to my PC transferring files, especially music files.
Windows 7 on PC, Android 6 on Nexus 5. I am not rooted.
One solution mentioned in the other similar post said to go to:
Settings|Storage and USB|3dots| Menu in the Upper R Corner| USB Computer Connection is MTP
When I click on the 3 dots all I see is the option for "help and feedback". Not useful.
Accessing the device manager on the PC shows the Nexus 5 under portable devices. Clicking to update drivers shows the drivers are up to date.
Looking at "Devices and Printers" shows 2 Nexus 5 icons. One is described as a portable media player. Clicking on it brings up the blank page. The other icon under properties lists the device as a phone. Double clicking on the icon brings up Bluetooth operations which shows PC<->BT<->Nexus 5. I currently have Bluetooth turned off on the Nexus 5.
Have a Nexus 5 running the latest lollipop build that has been working properly for a while (Phone is a Google refurb from November 2014, replacing my original N5 that had battery issues; Warranty expired Feb 2015)4 days ago, it randomly rebooted and then got stuck on the "Optimizing apps" page on initial bootup - would never go past a certain app number.First tried wiping cache - which didn't complete even after 48 hours.
Next tried full wipe from recovery, which worked but then shutdowns still happened.Reflashed all stock images (Phone is stock, not rooted) last night - problem still exists with random shutdown - but I can always get past initial setup; shutdown problems happen a little while later during use.Wiping cache from recovery now gives a "Could not mount /cache/" error in recovery
that there's sector(s) on the eMMC that's borked. It's a 32GB phone - is there a way I can flag off a certain sector as "bad" and put the cache partition somewhere else? Also, replacing the eMMC chip if needed (I can find someone set up for BGA work). I considered doing a file check from Philz / TWRP, but since the issue persists after a full reflash/reformat I assume that it's not a software bug.
I have about 5 screens, with the middle one set as a home screen. I've set in google play app to put a shortcut of new apps to home screen, but it actually add them to the very left one. The same is happening when trying to create a shortcut for contact - pin to home screen and I find them all on the very left screen instead.
Double-press of home button takes me correctly to my home screen...
I am extremely satisfied with the stock marshmallow (MRA58N) . The only thing that bothers me is that I need to save my power button (random power off issue when pressing power button, may fail completely in near future). Right now I am using gravity screen app to use my proximity sensor to wake the device. This does not work all the time. I end up using the power button.I know almost all the custom rom out there supports volume rocker to wake. But I dont want to move to custom rom. So the way is to root. So here is my question
1. Will unlock the boot loader
2. Flash StephanMc_Kernel
3. Install twrp
4. Flash super su
5. After this what to do ?
I updated my Nexus 5 phone and now 360 Security asks for pattern unlock for all my apps and I can't get access to anything on my phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedTo unlock the bootloader in order to root the Nexus 6?
I don't really care about custom ROMs, but there are a few root apps I would like to use.
For example, I'd like to enable touch to wake. That would make the phone perfect for me.
But I just do not want to brick the phone.
So I tried to use the Nexus Root Toolkit to sideload the OTA, but now when I try to boot my phone it just shows the white google screen and doesn't do anything. I can use ADB and fastboot and get into the bootloader but I can't flash the factory image because I never checked the "Allow OEM Unlock" tick since I didn't plan on unlocking the bootloader.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 5 just turned off and is stuck on the boot animation. I am able to access the bootloader and have already tried to wipe cache and performed factory data reset but the phone is still stuck on the boot animation. I have tried to unlock the bootloader with 1-click-nexus-5-bootloader-unlock as well as CF-Auto-Root-hammerhead-hammerhead-nexus5 tools but after I accept to unlock the bootloader, the phone reboots and gets stuck on the boot animation. The bootloader status remains locked.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI forgot my unlock pattern and I don't have my device in ADM ... But the bootloader is unlocked, so I think I can install any image I want, right? Could this be a way to get into my device? So any solution to unlock my device without doing a hard reset?

Able to set up face unlock. Seems to work. Front facing camera works fine as well. However a few days later I try to use front facing camera, it locks up, including trying to change face with face unlock. I turn face unlock off and front facing camera is back again.
On most recent version of screwd with tk gapps and I can't get wallet to load. It hangs up on the splash screen and never moves. Have tried clearing cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing works.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got this yesterday and am very very happy with the phone. However, something has my OCD going and that is a click from the speakers when hitting the power button to lock the phone or to unlock it. It also clicks if there is no lock screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a nexus 5 running on android 6.0.1.I was trying to root it when I found that the 'Enable oem unlock' option present in the developer options is missing on my device. The nexus root toolkitv2.1.0 also failed to detect my device.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was sitting down with my nexus on my leg with about 40% battery left when it suddenly turned off and then flicked to the google startup page before going blank. After attempting to turn it on again (to no avail), I resorted to plugging it in, which resulted in the phone looping on the google page then vibrating before repeating. I tried to get it into the bootloader menu, but it appeared and then reverted to the google page after the phone vibrated.
I've tried looking up solutions, but the only plausible situation for me seems to be returning it so the warranty can take over. The only hitch with that being that the bootloader is unlocked (not rooted, just the bootloader). I really am stuck, and do not know what to do
I am inordinately happy about this, but also annoyed that I didn't know about it earlier. It was in the Google Settings app rather than the phone's settings, so I missed it! This was the one feature I envied on the Moto X and I had it all this time!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
Any 3rd party app that can do the same?
So one thing I do miss from my Note 4 was the ability to clip screenshots. You could just take out the S Pen and it would take a screenshot and you could crop it and draw on it, etc.
Then you could easily share it and it didn't save it to your device.
Back when I had the LG G2 it had similar functionality, but it was via a built in app that was easily accessed from the Notification tray.
Is there a Play Store app that would offer similar functionality. Ideally I could swipe down on the screen, and access an app. The app then would allow me to crop or draw on the pic and send it.
When I look for them in the Play Store they seem to be more focused on screen recording or something.
I am having an issue where the touch screen seems to be unresponsive for a short time after unlock. For instance, if I unlock the phone via fingerprint, pattern, or slide the first touch doesn't respond and I have to tap whatever app or item I am trying to use. I'm using Cataclysm ROM with the most recent ElementalX kernel. Maybe it's a ROM/Kernel thing and I should try stock but just wanted to ask here.
View 10 Replies View RelatedDefinitely a hardware problem as it does it on recovery. It is getting progressively worse.
Used to be when it was hot, bit even doing it at normal temperature now. Took phone apart and remade all connectors, still the same.
Occasionally, my phone screen will turn as I take it out of my pocket. It only stays on for about a sec. This just started happening about 2 weeks ago. I'm running 6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo here is the deal: I have a nexus 5 that fell into water 1 month ago, i did all the procedures, rice + brushed all the circuits with isopropilic alcohol (100%) (oh, it stayed like 2 hours under water!). After doing that amazingly the cell phone was working perfectly, until after one month the screen started going black:
1- turn the cellphone on
2 - everything works fine, i get to the unlock phone screen
3 - while at the unlock phone screen i can see notifications for exemple, turn the cell phone to airplane mode, etc.
4- once i click on a notification or i unlock the screen, the screen goes black. and it happens every time that i unlock the screen
Sometimes i turn the cellphone on and it works normally for a couple of seconds or a couple of minutes and then the problem comes back. First i tought it could be a software problem, so i cleaned the cache, it didn't work. Then i did a factory reset, the problem was still there, so the only guess left for me is that something is malfunctioning because of the water damage. But, it only turns black once i unlock the phone.
some parts of the screen looks purple/yellow like I pressed too hard or something
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wife's nexus 5 is set to go to sleep after 30s of not using it. But that's not the case. ATM I'm waiting for more than 2 mins, and it's still on. Besides that, we have noticed that, sometimes, screen turns on without any reason. No notifications, or anything. We just find it on. And staying on...
Phone is unrooted, so on 4.4.4 stock.
last year I dropped it and the front glass covering the LCD broke. As it didn't affected the digitizer (and I was running a bit low on money) I decided to don't replace it right away. The time passed and it keept working until (something like 10 or 11 months later) it started to shut down by itself, either it had 90% of battery or 15%. As the boot took a bit to complete it shuts down before it gets to the running OS. The only way to avoid this powering offs was to having it pluged in to the charger. At first I thought it was a bug or something like that, so I unrooted it and got the stock vanilla android. 5.1 I think it was by that time. It didn't solve the problem. When the Marshmallow update was available I installed it hoping it could fix the problem but it also didn't work. With two versions of the stock android not solving the problem I concluded it wasn't a software problem and began to think it could be something to do with the broken glass. Maybe it wasn't just the glass that got broken. I bought a replacement for the display and replaced it. But, well, it also didn't solve the problem.
Now I have a neat condition Nexus 5 that keeps shutting down everytime the screen is on for more than one or two minutes.
