I have a nexus 5 running on android 6.0.1.I was trying to root it when I found that the 'Enable oem unlock' option present in the developer options is missing on my device.The nexus root toolkitv2.1.0 also failed to detect my device.

My initial reaction was fairly positive but I have a few questions and would be grateful for some advice please.First off, my old phone (N95) had an extremely handy Home Media Server feature. I would've thought the X6 would have something similar considering it is a multi-media type device. However, i'm unable to find such a feature. Could someone advise if Nokia have dropped the HMS for this model please?
Also, most of my passwords for internet logons and email etc were all created using a generator with random letters, numbers and characters. On my N95, I was able to copy/paste this info and save a lot of time when setting up mail accounts and other apps. I know the X6 does support copy/paste but the paste option isn't present for many password boxes. Is there a way around this please?
Just out of curiosity, What speed do you keep your screen animations at in developer settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when I restart my phone some of my developer options will get reset to default. I haven't fully troubleshooted which ones get reset but specifically: "Wi-Fi verbose logging", "Allow Wi-Fi roaming scans", and "Limit background processes" all get reset to default after a restart. Other settings like: "Include bug reports in power menu", "Use NuPlayer" stay the same after I restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to the G3 (from an iPhone) and had a lot of trouble with call quality on the first phone so I switched to the S5. Long story short, I'm back to the G3 and am having some trouble with the new phone. The colors on the screen looked somewhat washed out and the camera isn't nearly as fast as the first phone - seems to take 3-5 seconds between shots to be able to take a photo (with just the 3 dots visible) or for the shutter button to reappear. It's the same whether HDR is on or off and if I swap down to 10mp I notice a lot of grain.
Colors looked washed out, faces had a blue tone and pictures were blurry. I did a soft reset and I also unmounted and remounted the SD card - no change. Finally, I noticed a Developer Options menu. After digging around on the internet, I thought this is a hidden menu that has to be unlocked? I decided to do a factory reset; the developer options menu disappeared, photos look much better although some pictures are still blurred and the screen looks much warmer. I have the Black G3 on Sprint and my Sprint Zone keeps saying there is an update but when I click on it, it pops up a message that says, "Update cancelled."
Can't turn off keep all activities off in developer options it just resets back to on and it's making my phone lag and won't let me open camera settings.

basically I'm trying to change the variable sys.usb.config to [diag,adb] as shown in this post for the Nexus 4. I'm doing:
(if you run getprop you see that the correct order is sys.usb, not usb.sys as shown in that post)
However, when I enter this command the phone automatically reboots... and the value is reverted back to [mtp,adb].
Do you know of any 'friendlier' way to enable diag mode on the Nexus 5? For example, in the Galaxy S4 you can just dial *#0808# to get into the USB config menu, which easily allows you choose the DM mode... but I can't find a similar menu on the Nexus 5.
Seems a bit absurd to me that a developer-oriented phone is the hardest one to put in diag mode... I am rooted...
I bought a nexus 5 I was thinking that's the D821 model of my nexus 5, because when i put my SIM card on my phone it's working.
Recently I bought a 4G SIM card and i put it on my phone and it's works very well but when i want to use it to connect the 4G i can't, because my carrier has 3 and 20 bands and my nexus 5 D820 not supports those bands ! How to enable LTE band 3 or 20 on my D820 model.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.

All of my other android phones I could either dial by name as in spell it out using the alpha buttons or if I wanted to call my wife and her number is ie. 614-555-5555 I could dial 0067 on the pad and it was the only number with that combo and pop her name up. Now I have to dial 6145555 and it pops her name up. Is there a way to change this??

Since the last windows update from this week windows cant detect my nexus 5. I tried everything. It keeps showing up like "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" And i doesn't show up immediately when i plug in the phone. I receive this error when I try to add a card in Android Pay: "Android Pay cannot be used: Google is unable to verify that your device of the software running on it is Android compatible". I tried disabling root entirely and using RootCloak (Xposed) to hide root from Android Pay and Google Wallet, but I still can't use Pay. Wallet still works as it always has.

I can't remember if I ever had this functionality on my N5 (kitkat), but on my new N6 there's no such option. The edit option in the Photos app doesn't do anything with videos. Is this the same for everyone, and if so, what are you using to trim video footage.
