Nov 16, 2015So, a month or so ago I updated my phone to L without a hitch. This morning, I tried to begin moving to M, but I can't get my computer to recognize that the phone is connected to a USB port.
I'm running the latest Win 7 Pro build (current patches), I've tried using every USB port on the box, and I've tried four different cables. The Nexus will charge off the USB, but the PC will not connect to it, so I can't perform any of the flashing commands. Dev options are set on the phone, ofc.
I should note that I can't get the Device Manager to see anything connected, either, so it's not trying to update drivers or anything. Besides, I believe those are current, since everything worked a month ago.
Google Nexus 5 :: Can't Transfer Files (MP3s) To Phone Via Windows 8 File Explorer Anymore
Feb 25, 2014This is bizarre, everything was fine until this morning, not sure what's going on but the phone still comes up in Windows 8 file explorer, however as soon as I click the Internal Storage directory, file explorer stalls as the green progress bar slowly crawls along and eventually times out.
The phone says it's in MTP mode.
I looked at the driver supporting this phone for Windows 8 and it says it's from 2006. I found a link for installing thhe Google USB driver but there is no instructions for installing it in Windows 8, the phone not connecting to the computer in MTP mode which isn't an issue for me.
Rebooted the phone and tried again, no luck.

Nov 20, 2013I'd love to enable the diagnostic mode in my Nexus 5 so that I can trace the radio interface with software such as QXDM, X-CAL, etc... but I've had no luck so far.
basically I'm trying to change the variable sys.usb.config to [diag,adb] as shown in this post for the Nexus 4. I'm doing:
(if you run getprop you see that the correct order is sys.usb, not usb.sys as shown in that post)
However, when I enter this command the phone automatically reboots... and the value is reverted back to [mtp,adb].
Do you know of any 'friendlier' way to enable diag mode on the Nexus 5? For example, in the Galaxy S4 you can just dial *#0808# to get into the USB config menu, which easily allows you choose the DM mode... but I can't find a similar menu on the Nexus 5.
Seems a bit absurd to me that a developer-oriented phone is the hardest one to put in diag mode... I am rooted...

All of my other android phones I could either dial by name as in spell it out using the alpha buttons or if I wanted to call my wife and her number is ie. 614-555-5555 I could dial 0067 on the pad and it was the only number with that combo and pop her name up. Now I have to dial 6145555 and it pops her name up. Is there a way to change this??

Google Nexus 5 :: Play Store Crashes On Multiple Updates
Apr 11, 2014I have a Nexus 5, completely stock 4.4.2, never tampered
Whenever there are multiple updates in the Play Store and I press "Update", the first app updates, then the second one starts downloading, but the download hangs at some point, then after a few seconds the entire Play Store app closes without any message.
After that I can open the Play Store again and try to update the apps, but they only update one at a time, because on the second update it always crashes.
All the Google apps are at the latest versions, Play Store has version 4.6.17. This is happening for a while now, but I can't pinpoint it to a certain version of the Play Store app, but in the past I did not have this problem.
I've tried restarting the device, clearing data and cache for the Play Store app, clearing the cached data for the entire system, even switching the runtime (btw the problem is happening on both Dalvik and ART), but nothing worked.
I also have enough Available space: 4 GB as reported in Settings/Storage.
On my wife's Nexus 4, also completely stock and with updated Google apps, the problem it's not happening, so it's not something in my environment.

Aug 22, 2015I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.

Jul 20, 2014So this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

Dec 29, 2015It's been about 4 years since I had an Android phone (back from the dark side) and I am getting our shared calendar setup.
My Windows Google calendar to my wife's Windows Google calendar is fine, syncs within 20-30 seconds. Seems like the sync to her Note5 and my S6 is so slow that to be sure we are getting the calendar updates we have to go in and manually sync the Google account on each phone. This process takes a good 5 mins and is not ideal to be doing it all day long to ensure we have the latest events.
Is there something I can check/change to get the sync to happen a bit more automatically/frequently on the phones?

Nov 29, 2015when charger is connected my phone keeps rebooting on Google logo, when I disconnect a charger it has no signs of being alive. now somehow i managed to get into fastboot, but when i try to get into recovery phone reboots again and shows full charged battery.
