View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my beautiful Nexus 5 since April now, and have got it just the way I want it (screenshot below for the curious ) but I was wondering if it is possible to have custom navigation bar icons at the bottom without rooting. I have seen many images on this forum and people have custom icons on it. Do you need to root in order to do this, or can an app do it?
Here is my home screen for those who wonder:
How do you change the icons on the Nexus 5 with stock Google Launcher? I used to use the Nova launcher b/c you could customize the heck out of it, but with the Nexus 5 I'm really happy with the stock Launcher and it's integration with Google Now. The only problem is that I can't seem to customize the options with the stock Google Experience Launcher.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIcons in the menu were displayed in 2 pages earlier. But all of a sudden it changed to List View. I think some buttons were pressed when it is in my pocket.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Nexus 6 a few weeks ago and it cracked the top left of the glass. I attempted a glass replacement and ended up shattering the LCD. I bit the bullet and ordered a new LCD. I connected the new LCD and booted the phone up. The Google boot screen comes up fine, but once it goes to the spinning orbs before you get to the UI, the screen triples the icon and once it fully boots everything else is in triple as well. Once booted into the UI, there is also a strip about a half inch high that is nothing but colored static dots. The rest of the screen is normal, but basically unusable because of the tripling effect. I would like to attach some pictures but I am not sure how.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm going from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to a Nexus 6. I never thought it would be so different! On the GS3, certain icons would show "event counters" or whatever they're called in the top right corner. The email icon would show me how many unread emails I had. The Text Messaging app would show me how many unread texts i had. Facebook would show me how many unread notifications I had, etc etc... They were all the same, a number in a little orange bubble in the top right corner of each respective icon.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had my Samsung Galaxy S5 (verizon) for about two months. I just ran into a problem where many of the icons are missing when I bring up twitter. For example, when I'm at my home page, if I look at the menu bar near the top of the page, I see the words ""Home", "Connect", "Discover", "Me", but the icons above each command are missing. Also, the avis in my feed are missing.
If I click on a specific tweet, then the poster's avi does appear, but the icons for retweet, reply, favorite, etc. are completely missing. However, if I touch the screen where they should be located, the commands do work.
Rebooting the phone (off/on) did not work. And this is not affecting any other apps that I have noticed.
After finally getting access to the wifi button in safe mode, I knew the issue was caused by an app. The only one I had recently installed was TMobile. Sure enough, uninstalling it solved all 3 of these issues.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe voice detection was turned off. I enabled it, said OK Google three times, and it's working. But the search bar on top of every home screen (Nexus 5) no longer has "Say OK Google" in it. I don't mind, but is this an official change?

I always get this error whenever I try to flash the Nexus 5 with using the flash-all file, I installed Android Studio, restarted my PC, even got the 6.0 factory image. None work and I always get that error? I'm trying to restart this Nexus 5 for my dad. The Nexus 5 is rooted with franco kernel and TWRP but on stock ROM.
I have a nexus 5 running on android 6.0.1.I was trying to root it when I found that the 'Enable oem unlock' option present in the developer options is missing on my device. The nexus root toolkitv2.1.0 also failed to detect my device.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

when charger is connected my phone keeps rebooting on Google logo, when I disconnect a charger it has no signs of being alive. now somehow i managed to get into fastboot, but when i try to get into recovery phone reboots again and shows full charged battery. What should I do now? I tried to flash stock and unroot via nexus root toolkit, i get the same.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus ha been a dream. Though I've hit a few bumps, I don't expect to waste money on other flagships again.I don't need to be able to right this instant, but wiping cache is one of my regular troubleshooting tools. Upon troubleshooting an MMS issue I was having, I discovered my recovery wasn't working properly. Though I fixed the MMS issue by resetting APN settings, the recovery thing has been bothering me.
I am running stock and locked. I have done nothing to this phone to warrant it being my fault. The problem is simple (and a Google search indicated, common). When you get to Recovery, you get a droid on its back, a red exclamation mark and "NO COMMAND". Doesn't matter if you hold up and power, tap up, or get there from the bootloader. The recovery software is seemingly missing completely.
My carrier is Tmobile. I'd like to block a few numbers that keep calling me (Sirus XM, insurance sales,...).

View 1 Replies View Relatedupdating my Nexus 5 to marshmellow has left it stuck at the boot animation. I can get into recovery and have flashed factory 5.1.1 and 4.4.4 images but all that changes is the device loops with older boot animations. Kwongger's NEXUS 5 Toolkit v2.2 completed successfully but didn't improve anything. Trying to flash Cyanogenmod I run into adb "unauthorised". The device had usb debugging enabled and the RSA key of the PC was accepted but after multiple factory resets it appears to be gone.
