View 9 RepliesMy son's bought me a Google Nexus 5 for Christmas!!! Brilliant! OS - Version 4.4.4
They get things set up and recommended QuickPic - which looks good. However, it has a Wifi Transfer mode that I just don't seem to be able to get working.
I have selected photos, and tried to send but it sits there spinning with a message saying "Please open "Wifi Transfer" in nearby device."
The phone is connected to the internet using the home Wifi, and the desktop is connected using Ethernet.
What do I need to do? Do I need some sort of client on the desktop? The desktop is running Windows 7.
Some "conversations" get split into 2 separate conversations. The split seems to be into incoming messages versus outgoing messages, generally.
I'm on a Nexus 5, previously had an iPhone. Hangouts does not have this issue, so that is what I have been using, but would like to switch if possible.
I rarely plug my phone to my laptop, however I wanted to transfer a large amount of pictures today and got stuck.
When I plug my phone in the PC, the phone is recognized as a "media device" but the folder is fully empty, and nothing can be done.
Looking at previous forum posts, I have tried to check if the MTP was enabled, however I could not find the option (when I go to settings, storage and USB, all I can see is information about apps, there is no menu i can access to reach the MTP.
What I could do in order to manage to download my pictures to my PC?
Do I need to be rooted in order to transfer photos from my N6 to my memory stick?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is bizarre, everything was fine until this morning, not sure what's going on but the phone still comes up in Windows 8 file explorer, however as soon as I click the Internal Storage directory, file explorer stalls as the green progress bar slowly crawls along and eventually times out.
The phone says it's in MTP mode.
I looked at the driver supporting this phone for Windows 8 and it says it's from 2006. I found a link for installing thhe Google USB driver but there is no instructions for installing it in Windows 8, the phone not connecting to the computer in MTP mode which isn't an issue for me.
Rebooted the phone and tried again, no luck.
How can you send multiple pictures from hangouts? I go to the gallery app and multi select but the hangout app doesn't display for sharing. I can only do one at a time ..
View 3 Replies View RelatedSwitching from a Google Nexus 5, where I used the Photos app (which i think has ties to Google+) solely. I liked because sync was in place and I could easily go on my photos.google.com and see the pictures there too (and share them).
Now it seems that with the Samsung Galaxy S6, the camera app writes to Gallery. I looked under the Application Settings for Photos and Gallery and neither one has Defaults setup, so I am not sure IF there is a way to force the Camera to use Photos, or force their "Messaging" (not Hangouts) to use Photos. It seems that when you use Messaging and identify a Photo manually from Photos, that it wont attach it, since it isnt ALSO in Gallery.
So I installed Google Messenger to test that vs the Samsung Messages. The Google Messenger, cant see the pics in Photos either! wild.
Updated my 5 to lollipop and haven't been able to send downloaded pics through messenger or hangouts. I can send pictures that I have taken with my camera but if I download one from a website and then send it, the person receiving it just gets an error message. I don't backup the download folder in the cloud and I have tried everyway possible that I know of to attach the photo in the message.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPhotos are received using "hangouts" app. I want to move the pics to my computer. And was unable to find them after connecting the phone to the comp. Is it some where under my Google account...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI shattered the screen on my Nexus 6 the other day and the screen is totally black, just a few bleeps of light if I connect/disconnect to computer, that's it. The problem is, when I connect to my computer via USB, the Nexus 6 shows up in my drives, but there's no files showing at all so I can't download all the pics/videos off of it, it only charges. I assume this is because it's not in MTP mode? But I can't switch it on since I can't even see the screen. The phone itself works apart from the screen being dead, rings for calls, texts, charges and even bluetooth connects to my car when I start it up. I just can't view the files on my computer to download them .
how to get all these pics/videos off of this thing? I have my daughters last 6 months of her life on this phone, including her recent birthday part etc...etc.. and I really need to get all that downloaded somehow before I even think of sending it in for a replacement. One thing that came to mind is mirroring it to another device which I read online, possibly with Chromecast or via another type of cable but I'm not sure if I could actually operate the phone in order to put it into MTP mode that way though.
For a couple of weeks now, all the pics coming in from other Android OS phones are coming through blank.
Pics from iOS phones are fine, but nothing from other Android phones work at all...is this a bad setting. On my side? Nexus 5 with all apps updated to current.
Recently did system update and now facebook messenger is telling me to go to my settings and "turn on camera roll to send photos." However, I can't seem to find this option in settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan't send texts through messenger or Hangouts. Have totally disabled Hangouts until it is resolved. Have cleared caches, removed sim, reinstalled sim. Nothing so far.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue where I can't send any texts. I can receive them. Seems to have happened right after the 5.0.1 update, but I can't confirm that. I am not rooted.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just tried the sync to cloud thing, and now I have my entire 9000 plus library on my phone! I don't want all the photos on my mac on my phone. I just want to download a few pics from my phone to my computer.
Info:
iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1
I sideloaded 5.1M on my Tmobile Nexus 6 yesterday morning. Running Great, but this morning I got a ton of texts that never came through to me yesterday. Sounded like I got the slot machine jackpot.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem where I cannot text to 6 digit numbers (for card balances and whatnot) because there is a +1 in front of the number. There is no way to edit the number before sending the text. I have tried deleting the contact and manually typing the 6 digit number but it still adds +1 in front of it (which gives me an error when I send the text) . How to get hangouts to remove the +1?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a nexus 5 on t-mobile and am using chomp sms as my text app. I normally receive audible text alerts, but a few times a day seemingly at random a text will come and only vibrate. I don't believe this is a contact issue because I will receive several audible text alerts and then a silent alert from the same contact, and it can happen with any contact.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to make a vibration pattern for texts or calls?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've switched from an iPhone 4s to the Nexus 6 a month ago. I'm loving the android! I've noticed there are some challenges with setting ringtones for text messages from my contacts. I still can't figure how to do this. Am I missing something? Apple sure made it easy so I am wondering why android makes it so difficult for those that are new to the android world.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBefore the lollipop upgrade I was able to plug my lg3 into my windows8 computer using the USB power cord and easily transfer files (pictures). after upgrade, computer won't recognize the phone. is it possible to roll back to kitkat so I can transfer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my priority mode set as shown below, yet I still get texts from everyone. I use Google Messenger. I want only texts and calls from starred contacts.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have just done some Post Processing Pics via Lightroom 4. I tried to transfer back the pics back to the phone via UBS cable, the phone registered the transfer as successful but I am able to open / even locate when I using the phone. The folders under Pics, Saved Pics all showed up empty without the Post Processed Pics.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen my phone is asleep and I get incoming notifications whether they be texts, emails, notifications, etc my screen does not turn on briefly to alert me, only the notification light blinks. Is this normal or is there a setting on my phone that is not enabled correctly? I kinda don't like this, I'm use to my phone briefly turning it's screen on when incoming alerts hit my device (coming from an iPhone.)
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 has never been able to transfer files over USB to Win7 computers. The computers do not recognize the presence of the Nexus (no response and nothing in Device Manager). The Nexus shows it's charging, but that's it. I've tried different cables and computers. In addition, NFC and Beam also do not work but regular WiFi works fine for internet use. Bluetooth works but is too slow to be usable for data transfer.
