View 8 RepliesI currently do the majority of my texting from Google Hangouts on my computer. However on my phone, the only Android app that will actively sync these text messages (and receive new ones) is the hangouts android app. I'm trying to switch to another app while still being able to text from hangouts from my computer. Is this possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedGoogle hangouts not updating their conversations properly? Messages I send don't show up in the chat unless I exit the conversation and then go back in. What gives? Is this something with hangouts or the s6? Like maybe the ram management thing?
And while we're in it, is it me or did the Google keyboard get noticeably worse too? Auto correct isn't as accurate or reliable anymore. I also notice they've removed the aggressive auto correct feature.
So i have been using a Galaxy S5 for about a month now... I noticed i was getting fullscreen pop ups and i though it was some downloaded apps and i removed them. But I am still getting them and i noticed it was only when I backout completely out of hangouts messaging app. If i press home or switch to another app I dont see the add. It has a grey background and the letter "i" on bottom left corner where i can press and it displays "ads by google".
I have scanned with Lookout, App brain and some other popular ad detector tools and nothing pops up so my guess is some setting on the phone that i might be opting out of something. Or maybe i turned off bloatware that is causing me this. My wife has the same phone and uses hangouts and its not getting the pop ups.
Will Lollipop add a lockscreen preview for Hangouts messages? I thought it did for Nexus devices, but I wasn't sure if Samsung was going to add it in.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that if you are not using Samsung's default messaging application that you will not receive any "edge" notifications from your 5 favorite contacts. Need getting these to work if Hangouts is set as your default SMS application?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI started using Hangouts again for SMS on my Verizon S5 and quickly remembered why I had stopped in the first place. I cannot seem to turn off the Hangouts app vibrations for new texts. See, I use Light Flow for all my notifications, and I have it set up to vibrate twice when I get a new text message. Light Flow is working fine, but the problem is that there is always a third, longer vibration immediately before the Light Flow ones. I assume it's coming from the Hangouts app itself but I've poured through every setting, turned off vibrate everywhere I've seen it, and yet the single, long vibrate persists. I've even gone through all the main phone settings to no avail. I'm also relatively certain that Light Flow isn't the issue; when I disable that app, I still get the single, long vibration from Hangouts.
View 13 Replies View RelatedEarlier this week I updated my edge to 5.1.1. Ever since I randomly get the error message "unfortunately hangouts has stopped". I have never used hangouts and it has been disabled since the day I got my phone. I tried clearing the cache and it still happens. I use the stock texting app and have never even looked at hangouts. I tried to diagnose what was causing this, but it happens at random times.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince merging Hangouts & Google Voice, when I go to listen to my voicemails, they quit playing. I get the notification in Hangouts that I have a new voicemail, but when I click on the play button, and place the phone to my ear, the message stops playing. Didn't have this issue in the Voice app.

1. My WIFI is turned off
2. There are no network issues
3. I have been given a new sim card
Why am I receiving the same message twice? Is this because of my phone or the other person's phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedPhone: Samsung Galaxy S6 64GB
Provider: Sprint
Issue: For the last week, I have been missing almost all of my incoming calls. It rings from in/from the calling phone, but nothing comes through on my phone. This started at the same time that my outbound texts started hour-glassing (green/blue rotating circle) for 30-90 seconds before sending - some texts "fail to send" altogether. Also, sometimes when surfing the internet (Chrome and apps) on the network (full bars of 4G LTE), websites don't load - they time out. This has always happened (very occasionally) but seems to happen a lot more often since the texting/calling issues have surfaced.
Attempts to fix: I have updated my PRL. I have ensured that my 'network mode' was still in LTE/CDMA. I have reset settings back to pre-set using ##72786#. I have taken my phone to a Sprint store and was told that they only thing they could recommend was to factory-reboot my phone but that it probably wouldn't fix the issues.
Other notes: I have not downloaded any new apps around the time the issues came about. Also, turning my "network mode" to CDMA seems to fix the incoming call problem (but then I don't have 4G)
I have a Galaxy S6 64 GB from T-Mobile, running 5.1.1 with TouchWiz. For whatever reason, I'm not getting notifications from apps like Bleacher Report, Clash of Clans, Snapchat, ESPN, etc. I've checked my notification settings and none of them are blocked. I literally have not gotten a notification from any of these apps in several weeks.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I bought my S5 a few months ago, from T-Mobile. Recently, I unlocked the phone and switched over to AT&T. Now I've noticed that I'm not receiving all of my text messages. I can't figure out any real pattern, I just know that I'm not getting all of the texts people are sending me, but most of them are going through. Also, I've received several messages reading "122 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code. 0605040710000041637469766174653A64743D3135" ....
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy S6 is now on 5.0.2.The same version it was when I got the device. Whenever I try to search for an update, it says "latest version already installed".
I tried connecting to smart switch on PC..still the same..my buddy who also owns an s6 here, has already received the 5.1.1 update.
So when running Skype on my galaxy s6 (t-mobile variant but it's an app so I thought it might be all variants with this issue).
It will stay logged in and I will keep receiving messages for a short time. Even when I keep running skype in the background I will not receive notifications after a while like more than 30+ mins.
So, I have to launch the app or go through my recents and it acts as it's signing in and then I get my new messages.
It even says before you log out for the first time that you can stay logged on and keep receiving notifications without consuming the battery (which I think is bull, too).
Is it the app of the phone? Or the provider? This happens on data or wifi.
Text using laptop? I've been using an native mac app called "Verizon Messages+" to text my contacts through my computer however I'm looking for a bit of an upgrade. I ran by an app called "AirDroid" which looks pretty neat but kind of feature bloated at the same time.
I'd prefer to use a native app as opposed to going to a website and/or using a chrome plugin. This was probably one of my favorite features about iMessage, I was able to seamlessly message contacts through a clean and intuitive interface on my computer.
Want phone to vibrate when a text message is received.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had a Galaxy S6 for about a month now, and for the past two weeks I've been fighting tooth and nail with it to try to fix the issue in the title. I believe (based off what little I've learned from Googling this up) that it's an issue with apps that use push notifications (GCM?) alerts, and includes Facebook messenger, Google Hangouts, Steam chat, TheScore (sports app), and some others. If I'm on my home wi-fi, those alerts MIGHT show up, but 95% likely won't; as soon as I disconnect from my home wifi, I'll get a deluge of alerts that had been 'backed up' and waiting for the chance to be delivered.
This does not happen while on cellular data, and it does not happen on other wi-fi networks from the same ISP.
After Googling the heck out of this, things I have tried include:
* Making sure that the 'keep wi-fi on while asleep' setting is set to always.
* Adding the affected apps to the priority list.
* Having a Samsung employee at Best Buy reinstall the OS. (I think that's what she said she did.)
* Changing my router to a static DNS, pointed at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
* Downloading that DNSet app, though I quickly deleted it both because it didn't seem like it was working, and because I didn't savor the idea of an app sitting in the middle of my data like that.
The handful of other threads I've found with a similar issue have all seemed to devolve down to a single thought: Lollipop (perhaps even specifically Lollipop on Verizon Wireless devices) does not always play well with IPv6 data, though it's entirely possible I've settled on that as the culprit just because it makes me feel better having a specific target in mind.
My router (Netgear C6300) does not seem to have a setting to specifically turn off IPv6 data. Any way to specifically turn off IPv6 usage on a Galaxy S6 without rooting the device?
I am having troubles with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925W8 running Android 5.1.1. Ever since I upgraded to 5.1.1 I have sometimes been unable to receive text messages. This never used to happen with the older version of software I ran when I first got my device, and it is becoming rather annoying.
At random times I cannot receive text messages, and I have found the only way to 'spur' my device to receive messages would be to sending one. But this can be rather tedious, because if I haven't received a text in a while I'm not sure if it's my phone acting up again (so I must send a random text to try and download the waiting texts) or I just genuinely have not received a text.
I have an S6. And it has had the latest software update. Ever since yesterday, I am not receiving any notifications for ANYTHING, be it messages, whatsapp, facebook, snapchat etc, I only see I have a message if I click directly into the app and then it shows me i have new text/snap or whatevs. This is frustrating so much!!!!! Ive checked in my settings and I have all my notifications switched on, I even set them as a priority but still no joy! I have also restarted my device a couple of times in the hope that would work but nope ....
View 8 Replies View RelatedI sometimes don't get notified at all of a new email and I need to refresh the gmail and or it will show on the widget but no notification on the lock screen and or sound or vibrate. I have it set to alert me for every email and it doesn't. This also happens with yahoo but not as often. I do receive notifications right away with my iPad .. Some other apps as well I am notified right away. I have done a wipe cache partition and also cached data delete. I also tried to uninstall the updates and reinstalled and nothing. I'm guessing it has to do with the apps itself because I receive all notifications right away with my texts and fb messages. A little upsetting that I've never had this issue with my iPad, it was either this phone or the iPhone 6 and now I'm having regrets. I'm running 5.1.1 with T-Mobile.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using a standard Galaxy S6, just downloaded the update yesterday with Verizon. Ever since then whenever I get a text message I have been getting my standard text ringtone as well as my default notification sound. Not sure at all how to go about fixing this. Looked in settings but to no avail. Tried resetting phone but didn't do anything.I found out through some trial and error that the thing causing the text notification ringtone and the default notification to both ring is having vibration turned on for texts. Turned it off and the problem is resolved.
