BB Torch :: Don't Find Any App Icons That Have Asterik
Dec 7, 2011
I have a third party app posting a notification icon that I would like to understand and possibly clear.large white circle with what looks like a white arrow with its tail starting from the top right corner and the arrow head filling the inside of the circle. The arrow head is just a vertical and horizontal line that looks like an "L" if you removed the arrow tail.I don't see an app that starts with an "L" in my list. I don't find any app icons that have the asterik.
Through Control Panel, Settings,General,Personalization,Standby Mode,Mode Settings,Application Shortcuts, I have changed 3 of the 6 home screen shortcut icons to Google, BBC weather and EbayMobile. Unfortunately they all show on the home screen as an icon of the planet Earth, and it's only when I move the cursor over them that the wording appears to show which one is which !
Does anyone know if the home screen icons can be changed to other symbols/pictures so I can recognize them without having to hover over them ? I can't find any way on the phone itself that enables this to be done and I've also tried to find any mention of it on the internet, but no luck ! Has anyone else tried to do this and been successful ? - Would be pleased to hear from you if you are able to resolve this !
I just got my 9700 from Rogers, it came with OS v5.0.0.743 on it. However, I can't find the icons for BB Maps, Application Center, and AppWorld ! I checked in the "Applications" and it says they are installed.
I have updated my BB 9900 to the new OS 7.1 as per the website to have good features on my blackberry such as WIFI HOTSPOT and FM Radio. But I failed to find any icons in my BB setup and profile or setting. Can any one guide how to do it in step by step manner?
I don't find 'clearing text' and 'add contact' icon while at callI tried all settings but, no use.First Image is mine where u don't see add contact or clearing text on dail pad and second image is reference from net.Is there a kind of APP to overcome or any setting is enough
I'm a total novice; this is my first blackberry and my first smart phone. I'm feeling really overwhelmed. My first two questions: 1. What is the best source for basic how to information? Does it reveal me as hopeless than I'm wishing I had a book to help? Any suggestions for how I should get started? 2. Is there an easy way to get rid of the icons on my home page that are for stuff I don't want - like Fandago, Bloomberg, etc.?
Firstly I have 2 icons that flash intermittently in the top right of my homescreen - 'DA' and 'ENG'ould someone please advise what they mean, and why they are thereI have been using the phone for 2 months, and they have only appeared in the last week or 2Also, the phone is very slow to unlock, etc - there is a lag. My memory is ok, but I have many texts saved. Will this impact the delay in unlocking?
I have a number of icons/programs on my Torch that are not showing up for some reason. Now of course I've tried selecting "Show All" from the BlackBerry menu, yet none of the missing programs show up.It first started a few months ago, where my Twitter app stopped showing up (even though in BlackBerry App World it showed as installed, yet was no where to be found). I managed a work-around, by using UberSocial, so I didn't bother looking into it. Then I tried downloading Hoot Suite, with again the same problem; App World said it was installed, but the actual program was no where. Now I just had a third program do the same thing, but this one's more important. The actual app for BlackBerry App World is now not showing up; so not only can't I use its barcode reader, but I obviously can't download any programs, or update any.
My icons which appear at the bottom bar of the screen have disappeared, I have to touch the bar to open the tray, how do I get the icons back on the bottom bar.
I have made my text message icon a favourite and created two separate email accounts, each with their own icons, and also made them my favourites and have reordered all three of these icons on the Favourites screen. Every so often (no logical reason) they completely disappear from the Favourites screen and I have to copy them all over again.
My cousins managed to "hide" all the icons associated with my email accounts and now I can't seem to unhide them. When i highlight the "hidden" icon and press the button to open up the menu no menu comes up. But it works with other icons, I press the button to call up the menu and it works (i can even hide and unhide other icons at will)
I have a bb torch 9800 and some of my on screen icons have stopped responding . 1st my facebook icon , I tap it and it doesn't responds and my phone freezers , 2nd I go into media - pictures - my albums are there but when I tap on them they don't responde either and my phone freezes .
I replaced a Torch, 9800, with a replacement unit. All seems to work except the icons on the bottom of the bbm screen. They are normally "send", view contact info" etc. However, I just show a single star in the middle bottom where the icons should be.
When I got my new torch 9800 it displayed multiple icons under different headings. Now when I go to one of the headings the icons under it are display one large at a time and require endlessly scrolling down to find the one I want. How do I change it back to displaying multiple small icons?
Last week when he got the phone I added a Hotmail account and 3 of his business POP3 accounts on to the phone and they seemed to work fine. Each account appeared as icons on the home screen and when I sent test messages to each they were successfuly received with the little star signalling a new email on the respective icon. Then, when tapping each account's icon I'd be taken to the inbox for that account. Went to his place this evening and it's gone a bit weird! When clicking on any of the email account icons I get taken to the 'messages' folder which only contains text messages. There's no way of accessing the emails in any of his 4 email accounts. When a new email comes in now there is a notification at the top of the screen near the time and that's the only way to view an email. No way of accessing all existing emails.

from the app software i can't find any bb map available i hate this device it's so difficulte to solve any error bad technical support bad site also i can't install google maps
The shortcut bar on my home screen showing my icons is gone replaced by just an arrow pointing up that I have to click on to see any icons. How do I get my icons to reappear on my home screen?
My home screen is white. The icons on the panel are really tiny and scattered around. I keep getting error this and error that when i try to open an app or anything. I cant play my music. Basically my phone doesnt look normal and i already tried turning it back on and off.
I can still make phone calls and texts but it doesnt let me play music or anything else. There's a picture of how it looks. What can i do? And yes i've done all the resets i could do and i even did a hard reset and a full data wipe.
I have two unknown notification icons on my homescreen on BB Torch 9800. It's driving me insane not knowing what they're.Tried to get the picture in here, but don't have a clue how. The first icon resembles a tape casette player icon and displayed in white. The second one shows a smaller version of the tape casette player icon in black with three little dots on top of it.
I've had my BB Torch for 7 months now and I've always had this problem where it will automatically scroll through the icons or scroll down through the messages if I happen to have message open. I don't know how to stop it, I end up turning the phone off and on again and it stops it from happening, but it is only a temporary fix as it always starts up again. it also seems to cause my BB to freeze on me.
For no obvious reasons, a green icon pierced by a line (vaguely similar to the icon that appears against a draft text message) suddenly appears against certain old text messages, which (when opened) have been wiped out, leaving only the addressee. What is happening here and how can I stop it?
