BB Torch 9800 :: Understanding Torch Unlock Process
Aug 11, 2010I just saw the torch at at&t store and I have to get it. The question is I live outside US and I need to get it unlocked.Now, I saw that at at&t store, they are selling the torch for 499 dollars without contract. I am sure this is locked.If I can get this phone (I know I need to get someone with at&t to go with me to buy it), I can unlock it. This is for sure, right?
I see that some sites are selling it for 599 and 699 dollars but I dont want to pay the extra amount if I can get it unlocked.
BB Torch 9800 Smartphone :: Torch Will Unlock By Itself
Sep 8, 2010For some reason my Torch will unlock by itself when placed in my case. The case was for a 9700 Bold and I tried at the ATT store with a pouch 'designed' for the Torch with the same results. The lock/unlock key is so sensitive that even in my pants pocket it will unlock.
All of my old BB's would not unlock until I hit the 2 combo keys which was fine. At least the bold would stay locked in the pouch which was fine.

AT&T can't help me because it's technically not on their network anymore. I tried to call Blackberry but, I'm sorry, there are no humans and my problem doesn't make any sense to the automated system. So, how do I unlock my phone to get it to accept my T-Mobile SIM card?

This is at SFR, now i am in Italy, and the phone is restricted to only one network, so I can not get a new simcard to use in Italy...
What do I do? I can not contact SFR, because nobody speaks any English there, can not even get a contact number on their website, because the site is in French and can not be translated to English...

I got this phone because I needed a phone that would work in Germany, the United States, and South Korea; I am studying abroad this year and need a phone. My intention was to buy new SIM cards in each country, as this would be cheaper than roaming and more practical than buying disposable phones. AT&T agreed to give me instructions to unlock my phone and an unlock code.Today, I called AT&T, who plugged my IMEI number into their database. However, they could not acquire my unlock code and acknowledged that another person with a Blackberry Torch had the same problem a few hours ago. They reassured me that the Blackberry Torch is unlockable, but had no idea how to help me further. When I tried to call Blackberry, they asked me for a carrier code, which I didn't have and AT&T knew nothing about.

Sep 5, 2010I have had the torch for about 2 weeks and initially didn't like it at all, I had a Curve for 2 years but dropped it once too often :-(. Anyway I am a big guy 6'2" 225 and I am still getting used to typing (hope i will), but the biggest issue I have is the "Lock" button for the phone. I usually keep the phone in my pocket and if you breath on the lock button too hard the phone unlocks. Is there an option for holding the lock button down for "X" seconds before the phone unlocks, I loved that you had to hit 2 keys to unlock the Curve. I really don't want to deal with a password, is that my only option?
i really only want it for text,email and talking to people, would I be better off with the new Curve 3G?

It is taking multiple attemts to unlock my phone.I also observed that when I get to call, to cancel dragging the icon from right to left this is required multiple attempts.i.e many time dragging icon from right to left.
I don't know whether it is software problem or hardware. I have tried the repair operation also. my xperia neo is uptodate and running 2.3.4 os.I also tried to un install apps but I couldn't find any difference.Also once I unlock, those 5 screens, I can scroll inbetween and can touch home button. But when I long press on the screen to add widget/folder I am unable to do it as soon as I unlock phone. It is taking some time to respond.
As I purchased this phone in UK and using it in India, I am not sure how much service I can get in india from SE.I have bill for the mobile too.in other posts somebody told me to remove yahoo and i did the same but didn't find any difference.in short the touch scence is not responsive during unlock and for a while once get the home screen.
