May 22, 2011I had to restart my Torch 9800 after deleting an application. I pressed "Restart now", it went to the booting/start up screen with the BlackBerry logo and the loading bar at the bottom but then the loading bar froze at the very end.
I tried the ALT + right MAJ + DEL "soft reset" and the battery pull many times but the loading bar kept freezing at the same point everytime. I even removed the battery for a day but nothing changed.
The BlackBerry Desktop Software on my computer recognizes it as a Torch 9800 but is unable to connect to the terminal. I've seen on a forum that you can try to use AppLoader.exe to restore the OS. I'm not sure I did that right though but anyway AppLoader couldn't proceed the step of the connection to my terminal. It recognizes it, asks for the password but can't connect to it. It is kind of as soon as the loading bar freezes, AppLoader is unable to perform anything that could save my Torch.

I know it's not out yet but I was just wondering if you were able to give me any information on when you guys are expecting it, I've heard aug 15th but I just wanted to see from you guys if that was true. May 22, 2011I have a Blackberry Torch that is within the warranty period that I outright purchased from Sasktel. I would like to be able to use it with another service provider for the summer as I am back home in Manitoba. Sasktel does not work here for 4G devices only cdma. Sasktel has locked the device and refuses to provide the unlock code as per sasktel policy. This is what I was told when I contacted Sasktel for the "network MEP".Can they do this? Can Blackberry unlock my device for me? I do not understand how I can be forced to use only sasktel as a provider, that does not even work here so it is not an option, when I own this device. I currently own a $700 paperweight as sasktel will not allow me to unlock my phone so I can use it on the MTS network.

Aug 10, 2010I went to the store yesterday to play with the torch. I like it a lot and will probably upgrade from my 9000. however, I dont like the lock (rather, the unlock) and the sales guy said he didn't know of an answer for me.
in short, you lock it by hitting the button on the top left. no worries. however, to unlock, you either open the slider or hit the lock button again. this is not a very "positive" way of unlocking, if you ask me. its quick and easy, but not a very good way to keep the phone locked in your pocket or whatever. I can easily see me bumping the unlock button when the phone's in my pocket and dialing or browsing or any number of functions from touch enable home screen. I dont think the slide is likely to open in a cargo pocket, but the button could definetely get pushed. for those of yall that have had one for a while, am I missing something? is there a way to "override" this and make it so it only unlocks when you manually do something?
