May 14, 2012I have had a notification on my BB 9900 (UK Vodafone) that version 7.1.0 bundle 1149 is available to download.When I try and download it on my BB it tried for a min or two then says "update request failed.. try again later or update using blackberry desktop manager on your computer."I then downloaded the latest version of "Blackberry Desktop Software" and clicked on "update" - it then reported "There are no blackberry device software updartes available."

Apploader states that the update is not available from this server, the desktop software downloads it but hangs during the device backup. I have even tried to do a backup from the desktop software and the backup hangs too.

I recently installed new official release O.S 6 device update v6.0.0.668 meant for Bold 9780.But when i connected my phone through desktop manager and check for update the desktop manager is unable to find new installed device software on my windows pc. But when i check the supported resources in the desktop manager the new o.s version installed reflects as New installed BlackBerry Software.
I would like to know why current desktop software or manager for my Bold 9780 phone is unable to find new official released device o.s software..I have been able to update my device o.s version when installed on a earlier desktop sofware installed on my windows pc.

May 29, 2012I have a message asking me to Install the Version 7.1.0 Bundle 1133 software update. Priority: Critical. 95.4MB. It says it will take 2 hours with no phone use. That's fine, so I've clicked it to do it's thing, and nothing really happens, apart from it "Verifying update..." and occasionally the little clock face pops up on top of it. Then my phone just goes dark and restarts. On restartating it displays the following message "Uncaught exception: no application instance".My mobile is not plugged into my laptop during this process.I have deleted applications like facebook and whatsapp from my phone to give it more MBs of space. Sep 10, 2012I have a (relatively) new BB Bold 9790. I connected today via the Desktop manager and it asked me if I wanted to upgrade my software bundle (I am on OS 7). I clicked on "yes" and it went off and did the deed. I have to confess I did not do a manual backup as my previous experience has been that the DM does the backup for you and it's worked well.
So after the upgrade everything was back as it was (my icons in the same place, emails, pics etc) apart from all my SMS! They have all disappeared. I am receiving new ones fine but the old ones have all gone. I had quite a lot of useful information in the old SMS (yes I know I should have backed these up) ... is there any way these can be recovered? I cannot belive the DM did not back these up and restore them but if I go ito the DM and look for a backup there is no recent back ups so I can't find anything to restore from.

Oct 3, 2011I try to upgrade my device (9780) software from OS 6.0.0.285 bundle 863 to bundle 2115 (i guess) using blackberry desktop software and from web.. but it keep telling me the same notification "An error has occurred while downloading software for your device.
I already try to download the device software from the list of provider (in this case, I use indosat, cause im in indonesia) and the site is under maintenance huff...when i giving up on upgrading my os, i try to upgrade my bbm to bbm 6 version.. then, my device reboot.. and its gone.. there's no bbm icon.. in my application management, there's blackberry messenger still in version 5, but when i try once again) download the new one from the web, it said "Already installed"

Jun 8, 2011I recently updated my torch 9800. The Bb desktop successfully dowloaded all the modules. Bet when it automatically rebooted, it hangs halfway and received an error that the PC cannot communicate with the BB because of the obvious reason.
I had no choice but to disconnect the BB from the PC and remove the battery and back so it can boot properly.
It seems to be working properly with the previous software (not the 2475) I hope the download did not do anything to make it work improperly.
for sure blackberry tested this update before giving it to consumers but I am just wondering why this issue happened.

I recently updated to 6.0 bundle 2647 and since updating I have had several random freezes of the device while doing nothing. I keep the device locked with a short password, and then in a holster most of the time. I have had the situation happen about once a day, very random, where I would pull it out of the holster and try to access it by pressing unlock or sliding it open and nothing works. No response, just a display of the lock screen (no pwd input) and clock of the time when it froze. This is very frustrating and I'm getting ready to downgrade to the previous version.When it occurs, it's usually been idle, not running any apps.

May 8, 2011I just updated my DM to version 6.0 bundle 2949 and find that it doesn't offer me Yahoo anymore to sync in my organizer. All I'm offered is Windows Contacts, or icalendar for calendar and tasks.
The last update I installed lost the calendar sync option, but I have lived with that. But this is way more important to me. I saw forum advice to the effect that version 6.1 supports Yahoo.

Dec 15, 2011I upgraded my Torch (9800) a week ago, and have been noticiing battery drain issues. The problem is NOT persistent, but is happening most of the times though. I am currently on OS v6.0 bundle 3049 (v6.0.0.706, platforn 6.6.0.246). My Wifi and Bluetooth are always OFF. Only using the Bell network, for which I have all the 5 bars available.

I have investigated further, and I found that the Blackberry System Software was the one running with the highest CPU - usually in the high 70s, to even high 90s. And this was consistent over hours, until the battery was dead. I have since removed any apps I suspecpected - such as Nice Office and LinkedIn. But the problem still persists.
Battery pull has been done multiple times, as well as I have checked, and there are are no OS updates available.
Now, currently, only the basic apps are loaded (Alt-Back) : Home, Messages, BBM, Phone, Borwser. All other apps are closed or exited.
Investigating further into the modules within the BB System Software, I have found that the net_rim_io_impl, is the one consuming ALL of the CPU. I am not sure where/what this module does - so I am unclear on what service within the BB I can turn OFF to get rid of the issue.the CPU for the System drops a bit, as Options uses up some, else, it goes back to 90s, if left alone with either a fix to the module, or else, via some workaround, wherein some service can be stopped or some setting can be changed to avoid this battery drain.
