1. how do i place and icon(i.e. contacts) in favourites or other folders(i.e. frequent)?
2. how set the default switch on option to a particular icon/application?
Is there a way of that being my default method for unlocking my phone, as I currently have a Device lock kick in after 5 minutes idle, then I have to flick the switch and type in the 5 digit key. I'd much rather just do the swipe. How can I set this as the default option to greet me when I flick the switch to wake up?I have the device lock on as quite often the screen becomes active on it's own, and messes up my widgets etc.

I have tried going in the app and then clicking "close" in the menu, the end call key and nothing seems to work. Some applications have the word "exit" on their menus and that seems to do the trick for some and but not all.

For normal use i want to use 2G network and in special cases where i need speed I want to use 3G network. Is there any option in the phone where i can switch to any network ( 2G or 3G) as per my need ? or switch off complete mobile network when not needed ?
for example at present If i am accessing network using 2G network and speed is not good enough can i switch to 3G network ? and once my work is done can i switch back to 2 G or completely turn off mobile network ?
I have multiple emails. However, when I am in the email app, I cannot find an easy way to switch between accounts other than settings and changing the default account. Am I missing something, or was this phone really setup with only 1 email in mind?

To get rid of this you need to have only one keyboard ticked in settings, however there is no way to disable the LG keyboard that I can find, meaning the notification is always present.

So far so good, but then when you press the number you want to call you must also choose between "mark as default" or "just once" EVERY TIME.
For most of these contacts choosing a default number would be more trouble than it's worth because the number I want changes depending on time of day etc. I would just like to skip that step entirely.
Is there an application or way to lock an Iphone to edge and then switch to 3g as needed? On my Windows Mobile phones I can run an application called Bandswitch which lets me select whether I want a 2g or 3g connection. Since the Iphone doesn't have stellar battery life to begin with, such an application would really help me conserve my power usage.

I recently purchased the application known as ThreadedSMS because I like to see my text messages threaded as in conversation form. After I installed it, the original messaging application still pops up notifications in addition to ThreadedSMS. Also when I click on a contact and wish to send a text message, it uses the original messaging application instead of Threaded SMS.Is there a way to set the OS's default messaging application to be Threaded SMS so that I don't get double the notifications of incoming text messages, and so when I try to send a text message via contacts it doesnt pull up the original SMS application.Also, does anyone know a more finger friendly Contact Manager application (similar to iPhone )?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently been getting errors lately saying Application cannot be installed in the default install location when trying to update apps. I've had them before but have been able to download and update apps later but now it is not updating. I have tried downloading new apps and no luck either. I think i have an SD card installed.
And while updating Google Maps, I got another message saying "insufficient storage available" yet I have 9.92 GB of space available.
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage.
phone memory: 1.97Gb
Applications: 647mb
Free: 247mb
USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory...
2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?!
3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
There is no goto address option in my nokia 2700c's default browser.There was a opera mini but it is not working now.Ofcourse i can download other browsers like bolt etc, but such downloads always asks for permissions while downloading,for accessing network etc.So i'm unable to visit opera mini site or bolt site with my mobile.
