I have a Blackberry Torch 9800, in the past I have the Full service plan, that allowed everything, now I have downgraded to only e-mails. But now I can't even surf the web with the Wifi network or access to the APP World, is this for real all over the world or just my Carrier is blocking everything??

When my C6-01 is connected to my home wifi, Ovi Store allways connects to my operator's data network. If I set the phone to "Offline" mode, it's not possible to download anything from Ovi Store. Why is that? Wasn't Ovi Store supposed to work on offline mode, without a data connection, when wifi is available?

The only problem is that they've restricted the use of Whatsapp. (I'm reluctant to be without it for 9 hours a day since it's my main communication tool with my children). I heard there's a way of changing a setting for whatsapp on your phone that if it can't come through on wifi, then it will automatically switch to your data and messages will be transmitted this way.

I connected my desktop computer to the wireless network and browsed the internet without issue, my wife's phone (iPhone4) works without problem on the wifi network, and I checked with my internet service provider- they see no problems as well.On a hunch, I drove down to a local Starbucks to find a wifi hotspot. I found one, connected to it, and browsed the internet without any error messages. So now it appears that when I connect to a free wifi hotspot everything's fine but with my home network I get the error message above. The only thing I changed was the network.

It happens everyday and is getting worse Sometimes I lose it for 5 minutes, but 3 hours is ridiculous! I'm still connected to 3G. I can talk on the phone and I can use the browser for internet. But i can't get my work emails and my apps don't work. I tried resending my service books nothing I turned on and off all my services on the phone nothing. I run the connection diagnostics and it says Blackberry Registration: No. I updated to the latest leak .161 and that didn't help.I found a thread on Crack Berry where numerous others are encountering the same issue, so I don't think exchanging the device is going to help. Someone from Blackberry please fix this! This is a serious issue!

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Blackberry is from outside the States (from Panama, where I am from) and I use it solely on WiFi (with the Mobile Network Antenna turned off) when I am in college in the States.I have been doing this since January, when I first got my Blackberry Curve 8900 (Javelin?). I used it solely on WiFi until about May when I returned home for the Summer. During the Summer I used the device mostly with the mobile network (EDGE data).
Then I returned to college this past August and resumed using the Blackberry only with WiFi turned on with no problem. Reconnected to my school's WiFi network, and my home router here without much problems. Continued doing that until last week, when I went home for Fall Break. Used it on EDGE during my time there... then I returned to school, at it just doesn't work anymore...
I got it this past Sunday night, turned the device on, it connected to my home network, downloaded a couple of BBM messages and after a few seconds I guess the Blackberry decided it didn't want to work anymore, and since then I have not been able to get a single working connection from any WiFi network I've tried... rebooted the device, the router, removed the battery, deleted Wifi profiles, switched to Hotspot browsing, back to default, etc... nothing
Internet WORKS in the Blackberry Browser... I can browse the internet, look up stuff on google, etc.. but BBM, Facebook, Gmail, nothing else will work... Repeat: wherever I connect I can browse the internet, but the WiFi logo does not turn white and BBM and other will not work?
So I found an 8320 in my garage. It works & all [I think it was my aunts work phone], yet A LOT of the apps say restricted & most of the options in the option menu have a little lock on it so I can't change any options. The camera app is locked too. Any help on removing the "restriction" option?

I called Verizon and they said they can only block numbers or names but not restricted. Any app that actually will block restricted callers or hang up on them, i dont want these people to be able to leave voicemails.

However when I try to connect to WIFI I get " Failed to associate with the network". The router is seen and the profile saved. The router does not have MAC filtering enabled. The router sees the device and shows the correct MAC. The WiFi connection shows as on but has a white dash next to it and not a green tick. I have tried powering down the router and removing the device battery with no success. The device also shows the 3G or EDGE symbol, but does not connect to the APP store or the internet.

When I launch the application with 3g connection (over Orange) the application connects to the store without any issues at all. It now has an "Orange Selects" button, which I assume means the application has recognised my sim card as the phone is an operator free version.
The problem is that when I launch the application at home, it attempts to connect via Wi-Fi and is unable to connect to the OVI service. All other internet over wi-fi works fine.
I want to use my wifi for using blackberry services such as facebook, twitter, bbm, whatsapp ...etc (browser works) but it only works when my connection is EDGE but not edge and EDGE only appears when I'm on a data plan which costs money or only a minute when I reboot my device, so by that do I need to pay for using wifi ?(I got all service books)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use to keep the WiFi Scanning for location services on before Lollipop. Since Lollipop, if it is on, WiFi is ALWAYS scanning killing my battery within the hour. So I turned it off hoping that the Marshmallow update(s) would fix this. I'm on 6.0.1 and the issue is still here. It's kind of annoying turning on WiFi just for my GPS to lock on accurately. If so what fixed your phone.? I've done cache clearing, in the phone menu itself and through recovery to no avail.
