I lost my data on my storm when I upgraded last Friday.I have restored several times from several different backups and each time it fails to restore my contacts.Hence I have lost all my phone numbers.I have cold booted and taken out the battery etc.What can I do to get my phone numbers back?
View 8 RepliesI went to the Verizon place a couple of days ago to see if they could get my phone to stop freezing and running slow. Well they accidentally deleted over half my pictures and my phone is the only place I have those pictures. Well luckily, I thought, I have a backup file and my pictures will be on there. But whenever I try to run it I get the error "data not recognized by desktop!" Some of these pictures are really really important to me and I want them back. Is there anything I can do to make the backup file work? Will it even contain the pictures? I have a blackberry storm and the verizon place said I have the most updated software.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am a customer of Verizon Wireless in the USA and have recently had a brand new phone sent to me. I live in Canada so I have to manually activate my phone. I have no problems doing the manual activation to allow me to make and receive calls. However, I cannot register my phone to get my data usage set up. After hours of troubleshooting over the phone with Verizon, they've some up with the conclusion that I have to be in the US, and on the Verizon network to register the phone. I have always been on the global data plan. So, basically right now I'm with a smartphone that has zero smartphone capabilities. is another way to get this phone activated.

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Storm is unreliable as it periodically crashes to a white screen with something like "JVM Error 102r", I returned it to vodafone and it was sent away and returned with the latest software installed.However the samecrash keeps occuring, rather than sending it away for 1 - 2 weeks for a software reinstall I do it myself from the Blackberry Desktop Manager, this is a pain and an inconvinience but I have to live with it untill my contract ends and I can leave blackberry for ever.
My more immediate problem is that my home PC crashed and while I was setting up my new home PC my Blackberry also crashed. I downloaded and installed the latest Desktop Manager on to the new PC but I was unable to install and update my Blackberry to V5 software the reason being a connection error "cant connect you may need to enter a password"
I installed an older version of Desktop Manager which gives me access to v4.7 which installed successfuly however, and this is my pressing issue, I can not restore from my back up files (either the backup.ipd files or via the backup cab files) the reason it gives is "you do not have permission to open this file" so is it a windows 7 issue or a Blackberry issue? as I cant even copy the files(s) from my back up usb drive to the new computers HDD.
I've got a BB Storm 2 and I backup a lot.I also use google sync to sync my adress book and calender.Last night I synces it again and it failed. So I tried it a few times more. Signing out, signing back in and after a while it worked. But what I didn't notice 'till this morning that it totally screwed up my address book. Some contacts I had about 75 times. And I lost most of my contacts.So in my gmail I lost them to.But not a problem. I backed up two days ago. But now it won't restore. It does something to my BB, it changes stuff, but not want I want it to restore. So I tried a full restore, a partial restore, a different backup, turning the BB off. Everything! First I tried it with the old Desktop software and later with the new one. It doesn't work.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just bought an unlocked storm2 free and clear - no contract (upgraded from Curve with no data plan). I have continuous wi-fi as my internet company provides me with unlimited wi-fi access wherever I go in the US so my plan is to access my e-mail thru wi-fi.
Is pop3 e-mail set up possible without BES, BIS or data plan? Is there a 3rd party e-mail apllication available for blackberry, much like for pc where you can configure a 3rd party software (i.e., ms outlook, ms express, etc.) for your e-mail.
Right now the only way I can check my e-mail is by logging into the internet via wi-fi and going to my internet provider's web site. That is a hassle though as I have to go thru several steps before I can actually check my e-mails.
One second I'm texting my friend. Next second I get a white screen that says JVM Error. I restart the phone, and EVERY ******* THING IS GONE. CONTACTS, CALANDER APPOINTMENTS, MEMOS, GONE. Why? This phone...This phone is a piece of JUNK. I've had it for over a year now. This..over 100 contacts I have to get b ack. This is fantastic.

I found a fix to always get an EDGE and did it. it worked the first time and was fine for a few months but then it stopped working so I did it again. When I did my phone stopped having any data service. There are no entries in the host routing table..Ive reregistered my device a million times and its not working. Ive been on the phone with tmobile (they are no help) I read all the post about this but nothing has fixed it.

All 3rd party apps (google maps, gmail, Facebook 1.6, opera, etc...), text messages, phone calls, and browsing on BB's native browser work with no problems when using the data connection. About an hour or so later, all the 3rd party apps have data connection failures yet text messages, phone calls, and browsing on BB's native browser still work fine. If I pull the battery the 3rd party apps will still work fine using the data connection until about an hour or so later and it stops again (requiring another battery pull).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just updated my Unlocked Verizon Storm 9530 to new OS 5.0.0328 after 2 weeks trying. after great help from BBstorm4me, I was able to complete upgrade. I installed my backup to reinstall my contacts but I now have no browser and the instructions of register now from the Advance options does not work!!! It stays blank. My phone is working with calls and text but no Internet? It was working fine prior to OS update. How do I get my Internet back and my Browser?
I see all these great post for those on At&T and Verizon, but no one is listing any info to those users that are not paying 100.00 + bucks a month! Im in California and am using Cricket paying only 45.00 per month with unlimited text, calls, and internet. I paid $75.00 for the BB 9530 and $30.00 to flash. I surely dont want to pay another 30.00 to re-flash the phone just to get the internet back that was working fine prior to OS upgrade.
I was using a Motorola Atrix phone for a few years running Android 2.3.6. On this phone I was playing The Tribez for many months. I have moved up to an HTC ONE. Love the phone and very happy that I moved to it. The last thing I need is to find a way to move my Tribez app with the game data to my new HTC ONE. I have not had any success looking in the Play Store for a backup and restore utility that work on both devices and also move the app data with the app.

The point is this is a true GPS that shall work even if I am not on any carrier / have not inserted any SIM card. With such a GPS there are no data charges.Want to know if the GPS on 9530 fixes its location via GPS satellites or with data connection / network towers.

The phone was on Android 4.4.2 when I used the Backup & Restore application to backup my System apps data, and some of my Downloaded apps with data. I had to upgrade to 4.4.4. I think it was a mistake that I didn't make a backup on 4.4.4 as well. Now I've upgraded to 5.0, and all of my apps & settings were kept, but I wanted to start clean, so I did a factory reset.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI had to switch iPhones and tried to restore my Data to another iPhone. iTunes always tells me: „... cannot restore because iPhone is not compatible or backup is corrupt". My "old" iPhone with all the data on it is already in use with another config. So I went back and tried with my old one (btw. both iPhone 4s 5.1.1 iOS iTunes is 10.6.3 (25)), same message!
I restored my MobileSync folder by using TimeMachine and tried the last 8 backups to restore and failed every time with the same message. I can access the backup by using MobileSyncBrowser or iPhoneBackup Extractor. The Data is there and accessible. How can I restore the data to my iphone? Is there a way to check backups why they are corrupt an fix them? Are there different iOS5.1.1 builds? Is there a way to check the Backup for the exact iOS Build?

However it has done the opposite. I now have lost most of my contacts and all my photos!! How do I get these back?
When you get your iPhone 4, will you restore from a backup to transfer your settings and data, or start out fresh and slowly bring things in?Personally, I'll probably start fresh. It also gives me a chance to trim out some unused apps and things.
