HTC One M7 :: Backup And Restore App And Data From Old Phone To New
Jun 4, 2013
I was using a Motorola Atrix phone for a few years running Android 2.3.6. On this phone I was playing The Tribez for many months. I have moved up to an HTC ONE. Love the phone and very happy that I moved to it. The last thing I need is to find a way to move my Tribez app with the game data to my new HTC ONE. I have not had any success looking in the Play Store for a backup and restore utility that work on both devices and also move the app data with the app.
So I just been upgrading my Xperia Z2. The phone was on Android 4.4.2 when I used the Backup & Restore application to backup my System apps data, and some of my Downloaded apps with data. I had to upgrade to 4.4.4. I think it was a mistake that I didn't make a backup on 4.4.4 as well. Now I've upgraded to 5.0, and all of my apps & settings were kept, but I wanted to start clean, so I did a factory reset. Â Now when I'm trying to use the Backup & Restore app again to Restore the backup file I made on 4.4.2, a window pops up saying "Cannot restore, Selected backup records cannot be used due to incompatible software versions. Please select a more recent backup file."
When setting up my new iPhone 4s, should I restore from icloud or itunes backup? Or set up as a new iPhone? The phone number is staying the same from my iPhone 4.
I have change cell from E71 to E72, before i change i do a phone backup to my E71 to the memory card however i put the memory card to new E72, i go to Office-> file mgr -> memoey cardarea click option but there no restore icon but when i go see my file under folder backup it has a Backup.ARC in it i have lost alot of contacts in itis there anyway to restore it. or at least i get to see my contact list.
I lost my data on my storm when I upgraded last Friday.I have restored several times from several different backups and each time it fails to restore my contacts.Hence I have lost all my phone numbers.I have cold booted and taken out the battery etc. What can I do to get my phone numbers back?
I had to switch iPhones and tried to restore my Data to another iPhone. iTunes always tells me: „... cannot restore because iPhone is not compatible or backup is corrupt". My "old" iPhone with all the data on it is already in use with another config. So I went back and tried with my old one (btw. both iPhone 4s 5.1.1 iOS iTunes is 10.6.3 (25)), same message!
I restored my MobileSync folder by using TimeMachine and tried the last 8 backups to restore and failed every time with the same message. I can access the backup by using MobileSyncBrowser or iPhoneBackup Extractor. The Data is there and accessible. How can I restore the data to my iphone? Is there a way to check backups why they are corrupt an fix them? Are there different iOS5.1.1 builds? Is there a way to check the Backup for the exact iOS Build?
When you get your iPhone 4, will you restore from a backup to transfer your settings and data, or start out fresh and slowly bring things in?Personally, I'll probably start fresh. It also gives me a chance to trim out some unused apps and things.
I just got a replacement iPhone 4 and I was not wanting to do a restore however when I sync my apps back, is doing a restore the only way to recover game save data?
I have created the Restore from backup... with Sony Bridge for Mac. All seems ok.
When i wanted to do Restore from backup... i was able to see my restore point.. i can select it.. restore process goes well .. all DONE. Â BUT NOTHING RESTORED... not a single photo.. contact... app... anything...
I accidentally updated the iphone to version 5.1.1 without a recent backup!! Now it seems that I have lost most of my data except for my contacts!! Is it possible to retrieve my previous data?
My new iPhone (5s) was set as a new phone due to a fear that my back up may be corrupt.( Tech advice) it’s been 3 weeks since then and it was confirmed that my previous phone was a defect. Now I want to restore my back up without losing any current data.
I went to the Verizon place a couple of days ago to see if they could get my phone to stop freezing and running slow. Well they accidentally deleted over half my pictures and my phone is the only place I have those pictures. Well luckily, I thought, I have a backup file and my pictures will be on there. But whenever I try to run it I get the error "data not recognized by desktop!" Some of these pictures are really really important to me and I want them back. Is there anything I can do to make the backup file work? Will it even contain the pictures? I have a blackberry storm and the verizon place said I have the most updated software.
Backed up old 8520 before it was returned to manufacturer due to speaker fault. I received a new 8520 but now can't restore the data to the new phone. The screen just appears to hang whilst fetching the backup file.
I have my Samsung Galaxy S6 but I'm very dissapointed to find out that the S6 is not supported at all by Kies 3. I had an S3 before, and I backed up all the data onto my PC with Kies 3, then factory reset the device and sent to a family member in another country who wanted it. You can imagine my frustration upon trying to restore that data to my S6 with Kies 3 only to find it telling me to use Smart Switch. However, Smart Switch only will allow you to restore backups from Apple, Nokia, or Blackberry devices. A Samsung rep has told me that there is no way to restore data backups on PC from a Samsung device to the Galaxy S6. This seems like a massive oversight to me, as Kies 3 was an amazing support program to me, and the only way to remedy my problem is to purchase an older Samsung device compatible with Kies 3, restore the data to that device, then Smart Switch from the older device to the S6.
How to get some pictures back. A long time ago my HTC One got smashed and I could not unlock the screen to get all the content off of it when I plugged into the computer. Well I moved and lost the phone, however, I still have the back up files in my dropbox. I used the HTC One Backup app to back it up and stored the backups in dropbox.
Those files are in there but it doesn't seem possible to restore them to my mac. I'm trying to avoid buying a used HTC One just to restore the backup and get the pictures.
Any way to restore that backup to a PC or Mac? Or any other way to get the pics out of those backup files?
When I want to backup my iphone to itunes using a PC it asks me if I want to set up as new phone or restore from the backup. I don't want to do either. How do I get around this? I used to be able to find the answer to this just googling the question but the answer no longer appears anywhere. I also can't find it on the apple site.
When you guys are getting your new iPhone 4s (mine is sitting in Memphis, TN and will be here tomorrow) are you "restoring from backup" to put everything you had on your old iPhone/3G/3GS onto your new iPhone 4? And if so are you running into any issues?
I'm trying to figure out if it would simply be better to activate my phone as new to avoid any headaches and worry about transferring everything later, but I can't seem to get some good information from those that have done either or. I'm afraid I might brick a new iPhone 4 if I try to restore it from an iPhone 3G 3.1.3 backup, or does it not work that way? I.e., will it just tranfer the files/music/pics/video/contacts/texts/apps/etc. to the iPhone 4 but not touch iOS4, or will it screw my new phone's OS up?
Also, I have been using an old Sony Vaio Windows XP laptop that was my primary iPhone 3G sync buddy, but will be switching computers next week when I receive a new i7 27" iMac. How do you move iTunes libraries to a new computer and re-associate your iPhone(s) with the new one?My iPhone 4 will be deactivating my old 3G and re-associating that account and phone number to the new phone. (rendering my 3G basically just a 16 GB iPod Touch) So what is the proper procedure when getting the new phone?
As you know, the HTC has a built in backup system that stores to dropbox.
Before an RMA I used this to backup my phone and files. When it returned I was about to hit restore, and accidentally hit the create a new backup button.
The problem I'm having now is that the software seems to remember the last backup, so I cannot access the one I need to restore.
I've tried deleting the newer backup on dropbox, but then the restore software simply says there is no backup to restore from.
I'm starting to think HTC may well have the worst software dev team in existence if this is an intentional 'feature' to prevent you using an older backup.
I have recently had a replacement handset of a Xperia X10 which replaces my Vivaz. Before the handset was given back, I backed up my phone with all contact, calendar entries etc via the sony ericsson PC suite, now I want to restore this backup to the X10, the PC Suite doesn't recognise the phone. I have to now use the PC companion which doesn't help me much in restoring this backup.
I recently bought a factory-unlocked 32gb S6 (g920i) and spent the past few weeks setting up my applications, launcher, etc. For reasons that are not pertinent to my question, I've decided to return the S6 and replace it with a 32gb S6Edge (g925i).
Is there a way I can COMPLETELY clone all the apps, data, and settings between the two phones? I understand that the phones are close to identical but I suspect it is not safe to restore an S6 backup onto an S6Edge. Am I right about that? Assuming this is the case how can I preserve all my settings?
When I bought the S6 I migrated from a Moto X and it did a good job of installing my apps but none of the app-specific data or settings got transferred. Will SmartSwitch do this or do I need something like Helium?
After my wife dropped my iPhone in the Indian ocean, I am awaiting a new handset from my insurers. The only backup I have on iCloud is one backed up from my iPad. This has all my contacts, settings ect.I do not have any iTunes backups as I changed machines and did fresh installs. Now, can I use the iCloud IPAD backup to restore my new iPhone?Ie - will my new iPhone detect the iPad backup and restore from this.
My old Xperia TX is encrypted. So "Xperia Transfer Mobile" app and "PC Companion" are not working here.
Internal "Backup & restore" app exist on both phones - my new Z5 and TX and serves the same way - it can back up all text messages (and other data which I don't need to transfer) and it does work with encrypted phone! First it asks for password for decrypting and then works fine. I'm saving my backup to SD card. I'm inserting SD card to Z5 and trying to restore with same data but... BnR app can't see saved data on SD card!
I made some researches on content of backups and I see they using different formats for backups. Different files structure, different files contents and different metadata format.
I'm trying to restore a 1520 from a backup that was created on a 1020. It's not working and I can't explain why. When I restored a back up from a 920 to the 1020 it worked flawless. So here is more information ....
Lumia 920 with firmware Black and WP8.1 to Lumia 1020 with Black and WP8.1 works.
Lumia 1020 with Black and WP 8.1 UP 1 to Lumia 1520 with Cyan and WP8.1 does not work, backup doesn't show up, but the old backup from the 920 shows up.
Which app do I use to backup data on my phone? And does anyone know if it's possible to restore to a Galaxy SII?I have the Samsung Galaxy Vibrant SGH-T959. url...
