IPhone :: Updated To IOS 5.1.1 Without Backup - How To Restore Previous Data
Jul 3, 2012
I accidentally updated the iphone to version 5.1.1 without a recent backup!! Now it seems that I have lost most of my data except for my contacts!! Is it possible to retrieve my previous data?
I accidentally deleted all my contacts from my cloud settings, prior to backing it up on the computer. I hadn't realized it until I checked my phone again. Now the current backup has no contacts. Is there any way to restore my phone from a previous back up?
I just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my 3GS phone, previously using 5.0, while plugged into the computer and iTunes 10.6.3. I had the phone set to backup to iCloud, and ran a sync operation before updating.Does that not also create a backup? When the restore process began, it asked if I wanted to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. However the list of available backups did not have anything from today. The last one listed was from October 2011.So I cancelled that operation, went through the new phone setup and then it asked if I wanted to restore from iCloud. So I chose the most recent iCloud backup which was from around 6 AM this morning. Now it is in the process of downloading all my apps, pics, and perhaps music as well. I don't know but it's going to take HOURS to finish this.
Anyway I opened some apps that have already downloaded, and some app data appears to be intact. But other apps have nothing after October 2011. And I'm talking apps that have tracked my fitness and workout progress over the past 6 months, bike rides in the past few months, car fuel fillup and maintenance history since October, I'm talking LOTS of data that appears to be gone. What did I do wrong here? Did I not do what I should have done regarding backups? What is the point of backing up to iCloud if it's not going to back up all my app data?
I had everything working fine on 5.0.592 for a week or more. I tried to restore some contacts from a prev backup and now all the sudden my email functionality is messed up. I have it linked to my GMAIL acct. Things I noticed since that contact backup is now when i go to delete a message, it will not prompt to delete from device only or device and inbox Also I can hit reply on some, but when I go to send, there is no send option. And lastly when I delete from my phone, it does not mark as read or delete from my inbox. i checked all the settings I can find. But nothing changed.
I had to switch iPhones and tried to restore my Data to another iPhone. iTunes always tells me: „... cannot restore because iPhone is not compatible or backup is corrupt". My "old" iPhone with all the data on it is already in use with another config. So I went back and tried with my old one (btw. both iPhone 4s 5.1.1 iOS iTunes is 10.6.3 (25)), same message!
I restored my MobileSync folder by using TimeMachine and tried the last 8 backups to restore and failed every time with the same message. I can access the backup by using MobileSyncBrowser or iPhoneBackup Extractor. The Data is there and accessible. How can I restore the data to my iphone? Is there a way to check backups why they are corrupt an fix them? Are there different iOS5.1.1 builds? Is there a way to check the Backup for the exact iOS Build?
When you get your iPhone 4, will you restore from a backup to transfer your settings and data, or start out fresh and slowly bring things in?Personally, I'll probably start fresh. It also gives me a chance to trim out some unused apps and things.
I just got a replacement iPhone 4 and I was not wanting to do a restore however when I sync my apps back, is doing a restore the only way to recover game save data?
My new iPhone (5s) was set as a new phone due to a fear that my back up may be corrupt.( Tech advice) it’s been 3 weeks since then and it was confirmed that my previous phone was a defect. Now I want to restore my back up without losing any current data.
I was using a Motorola Atrix phone for a few years running Android 2.3.6. On this phone I was playing The Tribez for many months. I have moved up to an HTC ONE. Love the phone and very happy that I moved to it. The last thing I need is to find a way to move my Tribez app with the game data to my new HTC ONE. I have not had any success looking in the Play Store for a backup and restore utility that work on both devices and also move the app data with the app.
I have change cell from E71 to E72, before i change i do a phone backup to my E71 to the memory card however i put the memory card to new E72, i go to Office-> file mgr -> memoey cardarea click option but there no restore icon but when i go see my file under folder backup it has a Backup.ARC in it i have lost alot of contacts in itis there anyway to restore it. or at least i get to see my contact list.
I lost my data on my storm when I upgraded last Friday.I have restored several times from several different backups and each time it fails to restore my contacts.Hence I have lost all my phone numbers.I have cold booted and taken out the battery etc. What can I do to get my phone numbers back?
So I just been upgrading my Xperia Z2. The phone was on Android 4.4.2 when I used the Backup & Restore application to backup my System apps data, and some of my Downloaded apps with data. I had to upgrade to 4.4.4. I think it was a mistake that I didn't make a backup on 4.4.4 as well. Now I've upgraded to 5.0, and all of my apps & settings were kept, but I wanted to start clean, so I did a factory reset. Â Now when I'm trying to use the Backup & Restore app again to Restore the backup file I made on 4.4.2, a window pops up saying "Cannot restore, Selected backup records cannot be used due to incompatible software versions. Please select a more recent backup file."
I have created the Restore from backup... with Sony Bridge for Mac. All seems ok.
When i wanted to do Restore from backup... i was able to see my restore point.. i can select it.. restore process goes well .. all DONE. Â BUT NOTHING RESTORED... not a single photo.. contact... app... anything...
I've asked this before, and I've searched a lot and nothing seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe I just don't know how to interpret the results.Anyway, I recently restore my iPhone to eliminate all of the clutter and cydia problems I was having. I decided to JB with Redsn0w this time (instaed of blackra1n) because I've been told it's a lot smoother. I was also told to ensure the same problems don't restore, It's vital that I set up my phone as a new phone. Before I do that though, I want to save my text messages so I can put them back on my phone after I set it up as new. It is the only thing I'd really care to save. (Apart from my phones usage information, if anyone knows how to do that aswell, let me know!).So if anyone can let me know a quick and easy, (or long and complicated... whatever it takes) FREE way to save my messages so I can put them on my phone again after I set up as new, and JB with Redsn0w.
Right away I say that I did not check the forum for answers to my question, so I apologize in advance. The point is that last updated the iPhone 3G to 5.1, but I quickly began towaste the battery .. I think the problem arose because of the update, how to restore the iPhone to the previous version?
I went to the Verizon place a couple of days ago to see if they could get my phone to stop freezing and running slow. Well they accidentally deleted over half my pictures and my phone is the only place I have those pictures. Well luckily, I thought, I have a backup file and my pictures will be on there. But whenever I try to run it I get the error "data not recognized by desktop!" Some of these pictures are really really important to me and I want them back. Is there anything I can do to make the backup file work? Will it even contain the pictures? I have a blackberry storm and the verizon place said I have the most updated software.
I recently upgraded my I phone 3gs to a 4s and gave the old phone to my father but forgot to turn off i cloud and now all my contacts have been deleted and replaced with his contacts is there a way to restore my contacts
I have iOS 7.1.2. I have an iPhone 5 64 GB with Verizon. I wished to restore my phone to a previous time. I have a backup file from December 6th 2014, November 27 2014, and January 1 2014. The backup files are anywhere from 30-35 GB. When I attempt to restore my phone, it takes a long time, typically 4ish hours. I have tried multiple backups and am getting the same error Â
It will run fine the ENTIRE time, then when it gets to 0 minutes left and completes, I get an error. It tells me that the backup is corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that I am using. All of these backup files were created within Itunes. All of these backup files were created with the same phone I am trying to restore to. I have no other iphones, iPad, or apple devices. I am restoring from a PC with an Intel i7 processor. I am running no other programs while iTunes is restoring and I have updated to the most current version of iTunes.Â
Why are my backups considered corrupt or incompatible and how do I fix this?Would updating my phone to iOS 8 hinder this?Is there a program or way that I can get the data/photos from the backup files.
I have updated my iPhone 4 to 5.1.1 and I can't restore my backup files because when I try to restore my backup iTunes shows that the backup is corrupted or not compatible with the iPhone
When setting up my new iPhone 4s, should I restore from icloud or itunes backup? Or set up as a new iPhone? The phone number is staying the same from my iPhone 4.
