IPhone :: When Try To Restore Backup ITunes Shows That The Backup Is Corrupted Or Not Compatible With 4?
Jun 3, 2012
I have updated my iPhone 4 to 5.1.1 and I can't restore my backup files because when I try to restore my backup iTunes shows that the backup is corrupted or not compatible with the iPhone
When setting up my new iPhone 4s, should I restore from icloud or itunes backup? Or set up as a new iPhone? The phone number is staying the same from my iPhone 4.
Apple really screwed me up! Did an update to iOS 8.1.2, got stuck in the white restart screen. Recovered the phone via DFU for like 6 times to get the phone start up correctly in factory settings only to find I am unable to restore my backup due to "corrupt backup or incompatible device"!
How can I recover my backup to my iPhone 6?? I really need the photos and messages...
I have Windows 7 installed and have seriously tried everything to fix this, deleting old back ups, cheacking my firewall, unintalling and reinstalling itunes, deleting pictures that may be corrupt. I just plugged my phone into a USB connected to my sisters MacBook and it backed up perfectly! Is this something wrong with my computer?
It says my iphone backup file was corrupted and I was asked to delete my backup file.where could I find the backup file to delete? I've searched everywhere and I couldnt find it.
if I restore factory setting to my iPhone, is it still possible to restore the backup from itune/ icloud to get the purchased apps and other informations?
"itunes cou;ld not back up the iphone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone.Delete the back up for this iphone, then try again" when i try and delete the backup using edit>preferences>devices there is no backup.

I attempted to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1.I selected 'back up' from the phone in the device menu and iTunes confirmed that the phone had been backed up. I then installed iOS 5.1.1 which wiped everything on the phone & now I am getting the error iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored"I have tried restoring factory settings but iTunes simply will not restore from back up & I'm not sure what else to do
My phone Iphone 5s is broken so istead of it, I received an Iphone 4. I tryed to restore the back-up on it but iTunes asked a password that i can`t remember, in order to unlock the back-up of my iPhone. What can I do because I can`t remember the password. I have also backed-up on icloud, but only contacts. Photos and many other apps were backed-up on itunes.
I just deleted an iMessage thread on accident. I went to plug my phone in to restore from a backup I did last night, but of course it automatically synced as soon as I plugged it in, and now it wants to restore from the backup it just made (in which the messages have already been deleted). Is there a way to select a backup point inm the past that is not the most recent one? I am not using iCloud (yet).
I discovered that i deleted videos and pictures that i did not want to delete and need them back. I have since backed my iphone up a few times on itunes and need to recovers my pictures from further back. I tried the iphone extracter but it would only let me recover from my most recent back up
I am trying to restore a backup from iTunes for my iphone. It tells me I have not enough free space. I already deleted lots of photos and apps. Still no luck. Could I reset my phone to factory settings and do it that way? The reason I have to go through all this is, I lost a whole thread of text message from one person and need them back.Â
My new iPhone 6 won't restore an older back up from my iPhone 5 that is saved via my iTunes on my mac as it says the backup is corrupt. I gather this is something to do with different software versions on the two devices but is there a way to resolve this?
I tried to update my iPhone 4S with the most recent OS but an error occurred and it's gone into recovery mode. I want to restore the phone from a backup (which was created just before I tried to update) but the option is greyed out in iTunes... Â
Do I need to restore the phone to factory settings first?
I have lost ~20 pictures I took during my family's 4th of July event this weekend. It was the first time they have met my 17 month old daughter. Normally I wouldn't sweat loosing pictures, but these are very important to me.It restored every picture up until the backup I did before I left Sunday morning. I have tried A few different backups, one I made before I erased and synced my phone(new computer, old one was my work computer, no access to it).
I just got a new iphone changing carriers. I did a backup of my old one to itunes, how can i restore that backup onto the new phone to include all my stuff (i.e. - apps, photos, email setup, etc)
The above message is what I get when i try to back up my iPhone 4s to my PC. I tried deleting the backup through Edit > Preferences and so on, but I still get the same message! How can I get rid of this message and backup my iPhone?
I have downloaded a new version of iOS. And now trying to restore all of the information from the backup from itunes and it wants an encrypted password. I have never created a password for back up and I don't know what to do!!! my phone is dead now!
I've just updated my iPhone and trying to restore from iTunes back up. iTunes is asking me for a password...I can't remember what it is? Any way I can find out?
I was at a Genius Bar earlier today and they gave me a replacement iPhone 4. I had my laptop with me to transfer everything over and the guy working commented that I shouldn't use data encryption on the backup, so I said fine and he deactivated the option. I believe it was at this point that I was asked to enter the password, which I did. After a long time processing, there was an error message at the end. I wish I could remember what it said, but the guy said it should be fine. He wiped my phone I was returning, and then we set about to restore my new phone from the backup. Only problem is now iTunes doesn't recognize the password from my encrypted backup (this is the only one available). I don't know if something was corrupted during the attempt to deactivate encryption, or if this could be something else? I am positive I know the password—I entered it earlier in the process, and besides, it's the same as my passcode.
I was basically ushered out of the store because the guy said he didn't know what else to do. He just muttered some stuff about third party programs which Apple doesn't support which could retrieve data from a backup. I asked how those could possibly work on an encrypted backup and he didn't seem to have an answer.
