May 27, 2011Does anyone know if you can restore your contacts from the idp file? I was switching enterprise servers and my contacts will not restore.

Oct 28, 2010I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]
BB Storm :: It Won't Restore The Backup
Sep 10, 2010I've got a BB Storm 2 and I backup a lot.I also use google sync to sync my adress book and calender.Last night I synces it again and it failed. So I tried it a few times more. Signing out, signing back in and after a while it worked. But what I didn't notice 'till this morning that it totally screwed up my address book. Some contacts I had about 75 times. And I lost most of my contacts.So in my gmail I lost them to.But not a problem. I backed up two days ago. But now it won't restore. It does something to my BB, it changes stuff, but not want I want it to restore. So I tried a full restore, a partial restore, a different backup, turning the BB off. Everything! First I tried it with the old Desktop software and later with the new one. It doesn't work.

May 1, 2010I went to the Verizon place a couple of days ago to see if they could get my phone to stop freezing and running slow. Well they accidentally deleted over half my pictures and my phone is the only place I have those pictures. Well luckily, I thought, I have a backup file and my pictures will be on there. But whenever I try to run it I get the error "data not recognized by desktop!" Some of these pictures are really really important to me and I want them back. Is there anything I can do to make the backup file work? Will it even contain the pictures? I have a blackberry storm and the verizon place said I have the most updated software.

May 3, 2012I have to send my iPhone 4 back due to a fault...for the second time...and as my wife and I share the same itunes account when I backed up my phone the last time it did not transfer all of my own contacts to the new handset when I carried out a 'restore from backup'. I really need these photos and contacts back, so I did some research about recovering deleted files on my phone and turns out applications like these exist. I just don't know which ones to get. Most of them range from $50 to $100 so i really don't want to have to buy two of them. Some of them are called PhoneRescue, MobiSaver, Wondershare Dr. Fone...etc and i tried all of their 'free trials' and none of them worked.

Nov 22, 2010Today I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer.Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup.After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process.I left it restoring for a while. When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap.But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & Facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere.

I had assumed i would be able to save/backup/restore the most important info on my cell like my text messages, phone contacts and ALL my photos in my photostream thru iTunes and NOT have to shell out $3.99US + taxes to be able to do so! The App Store has only 1 free app (out of a whopping 5) which, of course, i cannot use on my 6.1.6 iOS..
How can i backup my messages and contacts? How do I add more options from where I backup email contacts etc etc OTHER than just Microsoft programs? i.e. From Chrome or FireFox.
How do I save and access ALL my 600 pics from my phone when only 56 are listed to be able to be saved on iTunes? Would I be completely delusional to hope there is an app or software that could do a cross-platform transfer of my stuff to an Android phone....??Â

May 3, 2012I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.
