I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]
My 'backup and restore' app won't back up my text messages... it backs up the other things on the list for example the contacts, call logs, brower history etc. I would like to save the messages before I update my phone.Or unless there is another way of saving my messages, i.e. saving them onto a pc or something.I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro.
I want to restore factory settings as my Xeperia Mini is really slow, etc, at the moment, but don't want to do this if the Backup I've made won't get restored after the factory reset.
Can I restore the backup after I've done a factory reset it will it have been deleted in the factory reset process?
Recently I changed phone from sony x8 to Samsung Galaxy min, but before I changed phone, I did backup for all contacts, apps, etc.The backup file from Sony X8 is .sbf file and cannot restore into Samsung Galaxy mini even though both phone are Android.or can I download software that runs .sbf file on my computer to get all contacts?
i purchased my X10 from greece and the version i bought was the X10i because that was the only offered but thats the one i need being that i now live in the USA and i use Tmobile (Tmobile 3G compatibility).about 15 days ago my xperia could not start (for the second time) so i sent it to the SE support center in the US (for the second time) and they told me that the motherboard is fried and they need to replace it which they did but the problem is that only the X10a is offered int he US so they changed it to that. im ok with that change due to the fact that i barely use it nowadays since i am near wifi most of the time. Now, my Problem is that before i sent it to get fixed (the second time) having an X10i i upgraded the OS to 2.X and i also backed up all my contacts/bookmarks/txts etc to my memory card (mini sd card) with backup and restore and i had it set to back it all up every night(which it did). unfortunately X10a does not have the 2.X upgrade yet but still i went to the m.sonyericsson.com/backup site to download the latest backup and restore software and when i tried to restore my contactsit tells me "could not restore data"is that because i dont have the new OS ( 2.X ) or is it because i dont have the X10i motherboard anymore? or is it because of some other reason i cant think of...?also, is there anyway i can restore my contacts/call logs/txts etc?
Today I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer.Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup. After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process.I left it restoring for a while. When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap. But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & Facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere.
I already made a backup of my contacts within the phone, but I want to export the complete list to my PC.- I used the "send all contacts" option, and could send the "sendAll.vcf" file to my mail, but when I tried opening it with Outlook, I could only see one contact which is the first on the list.I also tried syncronizing the contacts with my Gmail account but I cant find them there. Finally I copied the backup folder from the phone to my PC, but I dont know if I can restore it from there.
Due to glitches with the 5.1.1, I performed a back up, repair and restore as recommended in these forums. However my contacts seem to have been wiped out and it doesn't give me the option to import contacts stored on my Google account. All in all the 5.1.1 has been the upgrade fro **bleep**.
Phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro (SK17i), Android 4.0.4 Build 4.1.B.0.431 PC-System: Android SDK Platform-tools Rev. 11 Google USB Driver Rev. 4 on Windows 7 (64 bit)
The native backup solution of Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich, ICS) is not working on my setup.
On my windows command line: adb backup -apk -shared -all gives me the following in ddms (Dalvik Debug Monitor): 06-10 20:52:56.445: D/bu(3154): Beginning: 21 06-10 20:52:56.445: D/bu(3154): Finished.

Normally a phone with ICS should ask me to allow the backup process. But on my phone just nothing happens. Is this behavior "Unable to launch full backup confirmation" desired by Sony? What is the Sony way of doing a full backup of my phone?
When I save contacts to the memory card I get a file named 00001.vcf. When I open this file in outlook it seems to contain only the first of all my contacts. Can I open this file in another way to get all my contacts? Is it possible to import all my contacts to Pc Companion? When I syncronize the phone with this program I only get the bookmarks exported from the phone to the program. No contact is exported. I have already lost my contacts once and will be sure that I have saved them correctly.
I took a backup of my contacts before upgrading from1.6 and I was able to restore it to 2.1 but there was a recent update which I did. Now I am not able to restore the the Contacts. Others like call log & Messages are getting restored. I have 187 contacts which the backup shows. Can you assist on how to restore it.
My Z5 compact does not backup any more. I want to automatick backup daily to online account, but in "where to store files" it says "Online account Not logged in". And then I push it, nothing changes. I have tried to restart phone. What to do?
A few days ago my message had lost and I wanted to restore back.My friend suggested me to use the restore function but after it complete, my files such as photo and contact and even new message had all lost. How can I recover back all of my files or undo the restore and make it back to the phone just like before I did my restoration.
Normally, when I text there's always a tick next to all my text messages. I decided to send a text to everyone in my contact list in order to check whether their numbers were still working. I did get notifications that the text wasn't sent to some contacts which indicated that their numbers were no longer valid, but some of my other contacts did not have a tick next to their message and I didn't even receive an undelivered notification of those contacts. Does this mean that their numbers are no longer in use? here were ticks next to the contacts who I know had a valid working number.
I restored a backup using Nokia PC Suite which successfully backed up all data from my Nokia N96 phone. Everything restored EXCEPT my contacts. I can't find them anywhere and they were definitely backed up! Any idea how I can get them back? Have I lost all my numbers forever?
Problem. I need to restore telephone contacts to an N73 from a PC backup file: C:Documents and SettingsvinklaApplication DataPC Suite 35973xxxxxxxx PCCSContact Background. My N73 was behaving strangely with full phone memory problems. PC Suite backup terminated with a "not enough phone memory" error.I upgraded the phone software and was then able to perform a backup. After the upgrade, all my contacts had "disappeared" from my telephone, but I am able to see them in the backup PCCSContact file.
I have to send my iPhone 4 back due to a fault...for the second time...and as my wife and I share the same itunes account when I backed up my phone the last time it did not transfer all of my own contacts to the new handset when I carried out a 'restore from backup'. Does she need to have her own Apple Id to stop this happening? And if so, does that mean that we cannot share bought apps and songs in future?
I touched restore all factory settings and now I don't have any contact. I need them. I have installed Ovi Suite and I went to the restore tab menu but there it said you don't have .nbu backup.
Why can I not restore my contacts and photos from my PC's backup? I backed up my iphone 3Gs to my desk top PC. When I try to restore from Backup on to my iphone 4s I can not get my contacts and photos back. Itunes keeps telling me my backup password is incorrect.
Info: iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1, I can only recover my apps.
I mistakenly selected restore backup on my computer with my iphone 5S plugged in and little did i know it was going to delete all of my photos and contacts that I had from the past year and send me back to my last backup which was when ios 7 came out (LAST YEAR!!) I really need these photos and contacts back, so I did some research about recovering deleted files on my phone and turns out applications like these exist. I just don't know which ones to get. Most of them range from $50 to $100 so i really don't want to have to buy two of them. Some of them are called PhoneRescue, MobiSaver, Wondershare Dr. Fone...etc and i tried all of their 'free trials' and none of them worked.
In DM (V4.6) when I go to Backup/Restore > Advanced my contacts are not found at all. My Calendar is there, SMS messages, etc, but my contacts simply don't appear at all. Any thoughts on why they are not showing up and how I can get them to be visible there?I would like to be able to choose them, among other individual db's for backup.
