BB Software :: Updating 8700 To OS 4.5.0?
Oct 12, 2012I downloaded the latest OS file for my 8700, installed it on my windows 7 laptop as I cant install it on my mac. It prompted to restart after installation. After restart, I'm trying to find out from where I can launch the loader and update my 8700.
My 8700 is currently on OS 4.1 and when I connect to DM and try to update, it shows "No updates available"

Jan 12, 2010i just got an LG 8700 off ebay( in quebec) to replaced my current 8700 which is breaking.Problem is a number is still associated to the new phone. Is there anyway to get this number un associated with the phone? so i can put my plan and number to the phone.

Mar 15, 2010This began happening today on my unlocked (ex-Rogers) 8700 used on Fido.I power on the device and startup appears to proceed normally, until the BB tries to register to Fido. It does the diagonal arrows thing in the upper right of the screen and displays "GSM" and then "edge" a few seconds later in the space between the battery and signal strength meters, and then displays nothing in that area.I can't make or receive calls. My account is in good standing with Fido.Swapping the SIM into another phone works - I can make/receive calls on the other phone.
##21# give me "Supplementary service error: Unknown error."
Any ideas about what might be wrong with my trusty 8700 and how to fix it?
LG :: 8700 No Sound For Ringtones
Jun 30, 2010I have an LG8700 shine phone and now it doesn't seem to be making any ringtone noises. I did recently clear out all the sounds/mp3s on my phone but shouldn't there be sounds/ringtones built in to the phone? When I press buttons though sounds come through the speaker so I don't believe it's a speaker problem.Also Is there a way to master reset the phone to factory settings? I'm with Telus in Canada..

Jul 16, 2012I have a user (Older Company VIP) that will only use Blackberry 8700's A few weeks ago we gave him another 8700 because the roller on his old one had broken and now he can not open attachments. When you select the file it sends you to another screen that shows the file name Table of contents and Full contents, but when you select that you still are not allowed to open the attachment. May 18, 2010I have an 8700g Blackberry phone and I mistakenly downloaded an application that is only supported by software version 4.0 or greater. ( my phone had software version 2.2? ) . I had to replace the battery today and when I put in the new battery, it tried to start up but the red light comes on and the hourglass flashes on and off but after two hours it will still not start up. Feb 12, 2010When I tried to download the device software (v4.5) to my already downloaded DTM (v4.6), it gave me an error message I did not know what to do with.I want to synch my organizer data (calendar, contacts) from older desktop (Outlook 2002) to my new laptop (Outlook 2007, Windows 7). I am having trouble downloading the supporting device software. I keep getting an error message that reads "Error with the Application Loader. Cannot update software using this system as device is currently activated on a blackberry Enterprise Server or professional software. Contact administrator or check with service provider." I do not use Enterprise. I don't have an internet service plan for my phone as I use it only for calendar and contacts. AT&T gives the software option for AT&T 8700 in English device software as v4.1.0.175 as the only option that is supported by my current platform (2.0.0.90).All I really want to update my phone with the latest software that supports Outlook 2007 on my new laptop.

Mar 21, 2010I bought E72 two weeks ago. Glad at first days. Start to get mad few days later when Ovi maps crash/restart (what the hell happened, it was ok previously??) I check the firmware and its still ver 021. So I download the Ovi Suite and Softaware Updater (for E72). My PC OS is Windows XP SP2. The Ovi Suite is crash every time I open it (windows error). So I unstall it and download PC Suite (for E72) and PC Suite works fine .. I try some menus like backup, copy photos, etc. and its oke. Then I try to run Software Updated from PC Suite. But It can not recognize my phone! I follow every single step that mentioned in the SU dialog or in SU help including removing the battery, disconnecting usb cable .. even reinstalling and redownloading the SU and PC Suite. And it still doesn't work .. SU can not recognize my phone while PC Suite can. I have reinstall and redownload SU & PCS twice! Why is it so hard to just update a firmware?

Next, i wanted to update my Maps platform, because this firmware still has the classic Nokia Maps 2.0, and the Ovi Map Loader says i need to update to Ovi Maps 3.0 in order to download the maps. So, I installed the Nokia Maps Updater 1.0.12 (the latest, i suppose. i've just downloaded from the nokia website), I exited the Ovi Suite, started the Maps Updater, and i get this error: "Cannot get enough information about the phone [3].Unspecified error [1]." Tried it on a friend's E51 and same error.

Mar 9, 2010being on the business trip, I updated firmware on my E66 last night. After that I realized, that the map software distributed with the new firmware is old (2.0 or older), and doesn't even work, I got only notice I am supposed to download the new version. Before the update, I was using Ovi Maps 3.0 with paid navigation. Now the Maps Updater seems to have problem to download the Ovi Maps, I tried this on several internet connections already. Jan 14, 2010Nokia have finally updated 5800 FW but i am unable to download it because the NSU isn't working correctly. Everytime I open the program I get the message;
"Nokia Software Updater has attempted to connect to the internet but has failed three times. This could be because of a poor-quality, slow or intermittent internet connection, or restrictions due to a firewall.
If requested by your firewall, Nokia Software Updater needs the following applications to gain access to the internet:
nsl_host_process.exe
nsu_u_clienti.exe" The program will then close down.
I have a good, steady internet connection (10mb) and all firewalls are off. I have done some searches on this issue but I was wondering if a solution was found for the problem?

Oct 10, 2011I decided it might be a good idea to update the software on my blackberry since I haven't checked in probably almost a year. So I plug it in, Desktop tells there's an update for BB Desktop so I decide to update that first, downloaded, installed, done. Next I see an update for the Blackberry (Tour 9630) device, so I click update. Then it tells me I need the latest version of Desktop again (wtf?). So I click update Desktop (again) and then it starts installing packages.

Apr 5, 2010After having my E71 for over year and a half I decided to update the software for the first time. I backed all the stuff and downloaded nokia software updater. When I started software it found my device and the update. Then it downloaded the software and started to updating. My screen turned black and etc. In the middle of the update, about 5 min in to it, I got an error message saying that connection with my device got lost and it suggested that I turn on the device and start it again. FIY, when I connect my device with USB I get the following modes: PC Suite, Mass Storage, Media transfer, Connect PC to web.I choose PC Suite.

Apr 25, 2010Right so Ovi Suite 2.1 doesn't appear to do anything with maps Maps Updater complains about another instance being active (have to kill NokiaMServer.exe process) and then can't find my phone via BT (Ovi can) Moreover, what does Maps Updater do? Does it update the maps, update the map sw? I can Never remember And what about Map Loader? Does that install new maps to the device, or update the Map sw? Wouldn't you expect that whichever sw is used to download new maps would also be able to check if there are newer versions available? And the amazing Ovi Suite (sarcasm) doesn't this do anything with Maps? Who knows... And free navigation for the N79??? Status? Will this ever be supported? The applications may as well be written in Finnish, because I sure as heck can't figure it out (BTW Helsinki is a lovely city though and the ppl are friendly, but a guy I met there with a N97 said he hated the darned thing and would be upgrading to an iPhone asap)
