I downloaded the latest OS file for my 8700, installed it on my windows 7 laptop as I cant install it on my mac. It prompted to restart after installation. After restart, I'm trying to find out from where I can launch the loader and update my 8700.
My 8700 is currently on OS 4.1 and when I connect to DM and try to update, it shows "No updates available"
i just got an LG 8700 off ebay( in quebec) to replaced my current 8700 which is breaking.Problem is a number is still associated to the new phone. Is there anyway to get this number un associated with the phone? so i can put my plan and number to the phone.
This began happening today on my unlocked (ex-Rogers) 8700 used on Fido.I power on the device and startup appears to proceed normally, until the BB tries to register to Fido. It does the diagonal arrows thing in the upper right of the screen and displays "GSM" and then "edge" a few seconds later in the space between the battery and signal strength meters, and then displays nothing in that area.I can't make or receive calls. My account is in good standing with Fido.Swapping the SIM into another phone works - I can make/receive calls on the other phone.
##21# give me "Supplementary service error: Unknown error."
Any ideas about what might be wrong with my trusty 8700 and how to fix it?
I have an LG8700 shine phone and now it doesn't seem to be making any ringtone noises. I did recently clear out all the sounds/mp3s on my phone but shouldn't there be sounds/ringtones built in to the phone? When I press buttons though sounds come through the speaker so I don't believe it's a speaker problem. Also Is there a way to master reset the phone to factory settings? I'm with Telus in Canada..
I have a user (Older Company VIP) that will only use Blackberry 8700's A few weeks ago we gave him another 8700 because the roller on his old one had broken and now he can not open attachments. When you select the file it sends you to another screen that shows the file name Table of contents and Full contents, but when you select that you still are not allowed to open the attachment. We are using BES Version: 5.0.3.31

I have an 8700g Blackberry phone and I mistakenly downloaded an application that is only supported by software version 4.0 or greater. ( my phone had software version 2.2? ) . I had to replace the battery today and when I put in the new battery, it tried to start up but the red light comes on and the hourglass flashes on and off but after two hours it will still not start up. What should I do?
Even though I have downloaded latest software 4.5 and have turned off wireless synch, I cannot get my windows 7 contacts from Windows Live to upload to my device..I have gone through all of the help topics on the desktop software to no avail?
If I purchase a Blkberry Bold 9700 from Best Buy, does anyone know if I can carry it to an AT&T store to transfer my service on my 8700 to the new version.
When I tried to download the device software (v4.5) to my already downloaded DTM (v4.6), it gave me an error message I did not know what to do with.I want to synch my organizer data (calendar, contacts) from older desktop (Outlook 2002) to my new laptop (Outlook 2007, Windows 7). I am having trouble downloading the supporting device software. I keep getting an error message that reads "Error with the Application Loader. Cannot update software using this system as device is currently activated on a blackberry Enterprise Server or professional software. Contact administrator or check with service provider." I do not use Enterprise. I don't have an internet service plan for my phone as I use it only for calendar and contacts. AT&T gives the software option for AT&T 8700 in English device software as v4.1.0.175 as the only option that is supported by my current platform (2.0.0.90).All I really want to update my phone with the latest software that supports Outlook 2007 on my new laptop.

I replaced my iPhone 4 yesterday at the Apple store and they gave me a new one with version 4.0. Well, I want to update my phone only to 4.0.1..not 4.0.2. Is there a way this can be done without going to 4.0.2 through itunes or anywhere else?
just wondering if anyone has upgraded their Rogers 9700 wirelessly? The newest OS is .743. Also, what is involved in upgrading wirelessly? Should I back up my data first?
I have went to an apple store for iOS upgrade in my iPhone 3GS. They told me that I have to pay Service Charges for upgradation..!!Do i have to pay for upgradation of iOS as the device is still under warranty?
I'm trying to update my iPhone from 4.0 to 5.01. When I go through the process of backing up and then downloading the new version, I get the following response: "The iPhone could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible".
The reason that I am doing this in the first place is that I recently got a "personal hot spot" for my new iPad. I'm told that I can't access my "personal hot spot" with the older version thus the attempt to update.
I have a BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G and it's on platform 6.6.0.124 on App Version 6.0.0.448. I'm from the Philippines so mentioning my carrier might be useless 'cause you may not be familiar with it, but nevertheless, it's Sun Mobile. I currently don't have a data plan but I know you don't need a data plan to update your OS so there. I want to upgrade my OS to 6.0.0.546 (the latest for now). Here are the ways I've tried in order to do that:
Way 1:I've googled that you can update via the mobile itself, I've tried looking for the Wireless Update Icon but didn't find it on the menu even if I choose the Show All option. I've tried going to Options>Device>Advanced System Settings>Host Routing Table>Register Now but nothing happened.
Way 2:I've downloaded Desktop Manager version 6.1, connected my phone on the computer. I've clicked the Update Now Button, then it showed me that updates are available (which is 6.0.0.546). I've clicked Get Update, then got an error saying that I must first get the latest Device Software first in order to begin the updating process of the phone. So I clicked install, then the computer started downloading the update, after the download, I clicked on install and ran the program, it said to remove the phone from the computer and so I did, after clicking some "Nexts" buttons it showed a new window "BlackBerry Device Software Updater" and saying a message "Please wait while Windows configures BlackBerry Device Software Updater". It's been going for more than 4 hours now and nothing happens, there's not even a progress bar on it, just that window saying that message, I checked on the task manager but it says running and it doesn't say Not Respongding so it must be working, it just goes on forever. After waiting for 6 hours, I cancelled it, remove and reinstalled Desktop Manager, did the same process and got the same result. Btw, I have a Quad Core Win7 computer.
Way 3:This way I haven't tried yet and I guess I won't be willing to try 'cause I'm afraid I'd mess up my phone, but I'll tell you anyhow just to show I'm already aware of this way of updating. I've read that I need to download the OS itself, install it, enter the folder apploader from prog filescommon files im etc, delete vendor.xml, click loader and install the program. Some even say that I must pull the battery fast and such. Well, I guess I won't try this option cause this may mess up my phone, like I don't even know if what trusted site should I download the OS itself since the blackberry official site doesn't recommend that way.
I saw recently that update is available for my phone.I purchased it 1 month back.My PC COMPANION is showing that there is an update for my phone. After my phone is being prepared for update in STEP 2.It is suddenly displaying ERROR UPDATING.Also,PC companion is showing exclamation mark on my SD card symbol on home screen of PC Companion.
I've noticed in a couple of topics that people mention that updates to firmware need to come through the phone provider. However, I bought my E72 (euro version, if that makes a difference) through an independant seller, and it's not locked to any provider. So, how do I go about finding and installing any updates I might need?
