Hiya i'm a newbie and im interested in buying either the 9000 or the 9700. i'm in the process of reading up about these phones but i would like to know where can i find info on the latest software (or firmware) for these phones and how to install them on my phone?
* heard stories of software version 5.0.0 or 6.0 but i dunno if these are true.
Is the newest, latest EastAsia OS for the 9700 still 5.0.0.442?

View 1 Replies View RelatedDesktop mgr 5.0.1.37.When I connect (via USB) the connection appears to be recognised - clock appears on BB and PC beeps. After a few minutes PC & BB icons appear on BB screen but no interconnecting arrows. When I try to sync there is no device and PIN number showing on Device Mgr so it doesn't sync. Then the Desktop Mgr greys out and appears to freeze - I then have to disconnect the BB to unfreeze.
Device manager shows two RIM virtual serial ports v2 Com 3 & Com 4. If I try to update the drivers it says most up to date are loaded although the drivers are dated 24 Nov 2008 and are version 2.2.0.3 and appear to be called RimSerial_AMD64.sys (I'm using Intel i7 processor).
Devices & Printers screen shows a RIM Composite Device icon.
Windows in Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700 with OS Version 5.0.0.321 Platform 5.1.0.90.I want to Install Opera Mini , in Opera Website there is no option for Bold 9700 also no option for OS Version 5.0 , it means I could not Install Opera Mini on my latest BlackBerry product ?

I can find the software to upgrade via desktop manager but i want to deploy this through our BES 5.0.1.also I have BES 4.16 which i am migrating the users onto the new BES via the transporter tool, but i've found our IT Policy creates issues with device version 4.3 and needs to be reactivated when migration is complete.So i would also like to upgrade the devices on the old BES before migrated them across.So is there a way of upgrading a device version from BES 4.1.6 if so could you also provide instructions? Is there any issues when upgrading device versions? would i need to resend the service book? it policy? re-activation?

Opera's website doesn't show a version for the 9700 so I was going to download the version for the 9000. The only problem is the 9000 version doesn't have the 5.0 firmware option available. What version are you guys using on your 9700's?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot find the BB App World icon. I think it disappeared after I downloaded the latest version. I have deleted and re-downloaded. I have looked in every folder. I have downloaded and replaced the existing version. I have re-booted by taking the battery out, etc. The software is in my applications. I have gone through every folder clicking on show all also.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia N97, happily using Ovi Maps and recieved a text stating newer, better more efficient version now available, so I updated through the software updater, and now it WILL NOT NAVIGATE. I use mine in offline mode, so it uses GPS only, and it finds me, and my current lcoation very quickly, but then when you add a route it just locks onto "Waiting for GPS" with a map image of my destination address, and no matter where I am location wise the GPS navigation NEVER starts. A family member has an N97 also, from another network provider, and exactly the fault has appeared on there N97 since upgrading to the newer maps program. Also on both phones the satnav GPS signal strength indicator has been removed from the screen on newer ovimaps so you cannot even see what is happening.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just bought an 8GB MOTOACTV yesterday in Hong Kong and the existing version of software is 1.7.3 A8. I tried to install MOTOCAST on 2 PCs (system: WinXP & Windows Vista) and both are upgraded to 2.0.31, but when I check the software update for MOTOACTV itself, the MOTOCAST told me no update for me for the timebeing.
The fact is there is 1.7.11 A8 out there and maybe 1.7.12 A8 as the guy introduced me to buy have the exact same device (only this version in same store) with Golf function on. Meanwhile, when the device connect to WiFi yesterday evening, I saw once the words of "Software Update Availabe, please connect the computer to update" shown on the device.

Updating to the latest Device Software and Its hanging on the Restore Progress. Content Store 163 of 541 items but the bar is one square away from the end, and its a not moving. No movement on Phone either, just frozen with PC to Phone connect image.

There was an error updating your software. Application Loader was unable to connect with your device. Restart the loading process, reconnect your device and try again.
Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001]The phone reboots with the old software and all works fine. I presume its best to wait for a program temporary fix or just not load the software at all.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am a noob so please forgive me ..i had a booting error yesterday where the red light stuck on with a black screen and i had to pull the battery (luckily for me it revived) sadly after it loaded i realized i lost all my contacts however this happened when my brother soft reset it when it was connected via usb to the pc so i guess some current interference buged the loading process.
Then today i soft reset my bold i got a white screen with app loader i believe 523 error reset or something, i cant quite remember but i think thats it however i hit either the end key or the enter key (sorry to so vague guys i got scared) ....after i pressed those buttons it began the reboot cycle ...loaded up and has been fine ever since..just wondering if you think i should upgrade my Os or just leave it i am on 4.6.0.162...
i'm having a problem with my bold 9000. I bought it 2 days ago with old OS and i had just upgraded the OS to the 5.0.0.610.My problem is i couldn't add the blackberry map into my bold 9000! At first i thought it was just because i had the old OS, but unfortunately after i upgraded the OS, and i even tried downloading the map from the blackberry website but there's still no changes.FYI,i downloaded the map software via computer, so it's not directly from the device. And after the download had finished, on the website it even wrote 'Complete-Blackberry Maps has been loaded to your device' but yeah i still couldn't find the icon anywhere in my device. Is there something wrong with my Bold?

I tried options>language and text input> and the only option I get is 'English(US)'
