I was about to download Opera Mini 4.2 for my Bold 9700 w/ 5.0 firmware. Opera's website doesn't show a version for the 9700 so I was going to download the version for the 9000. The only problem is the 9000 version doesn't have the 5.0 firmware option available. What version are you guys using on your 9700's?

The installed software version is 5.0.0.351 with platform 5.1.0.98 and branding version 1.0.160.529q.I have read in this forum that there is a later version of the os available yet when I utilized the BB desktop software updater, it say that the latest version is installed. Is this correct?
I also have other issues with applications. I am unable to download and install the "BlackBerry APP World"; I get a message, " Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BlackBerry App World"
"Google talk" give an error messag: " Service not enabled for this hand held" "Blackberry maps" are not loaded on the handset.Setup wizard does not give me the option to set up my personal e-mail only enterprise e-mail.I am able to browse and send and receive MMS & SMS messages.
Kindly advise as to ho to resolve these issues and whether there is a more current software version for the handset, and if so: how do I update it.
I am trying to download version 7 for opera mini to download but each time i try to download it off my phone using wifi halfway through the download it says error and stops any idea why ? and when i transfer the files to my phone from pc to install it

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been having issues with my Bold lately and I am hoping it's software related (Email behaving strangely, not auto finding contacts, not letting me send an e-mail), phone running out of memory 3 times per day, etc. I am running 5.0.0.592 currently, and to begin with it was great! But I really want to clean it up and try a fresh OS. I've heard good things about 681 and 822, but both seem to have their issues. Can some of you who have tried 592, 681, and 822 give me a recommendation on whether to stick with 592 or upgrade to one of the other 2? What about 610? I seem to have seen it mentioned in an older thread as a good one too.

I didn't have any real complaints about VZW but wanted to upgrade to the Bold and since AT&T has similar coverage in the areas where I live and work, I went for it. Today, after deciding that I needed yet another change, specifically to a newer blackberry that actually still get's OS updates, along with trackpad and more memory, I made the switch back to good old Verizon and ordered a Bold 9650.
I should receive it on Wednesday and I'm so excited. I will miss my current Bold, we've had a great year together, but I'm really looking forward to my new Bold. Did I make the right decision? This was a bit of an impulse buy for me. Is there anyone else here that switched from the 9000 to the 9650?
I've been reading some posts here and am curious, some people are mentioning functions my BB doesn't have and I'm wondering why...I connected my BB to the desktop manager and clicked update, according to the DM the latest version is 4.6.0.303 which I have installed.Can anyone confirm this is in fact the most up to date version?

I have been using zillatube to convert videos to ringtones. The problem is this: how do I do I transfer mp3 files to my BB? I notice that all songs are gleaned from the Windows media player on my computer-so I tried to add them to a playlist but with no success. I transferred the files directly to my phone and they end up in files, I am then unable to select them as a ringtone.I don't know how to use the BB desktop to transfer them-it seems to only sync with the playlists of the cds I have ripped.

Issue: After upgrading to version 4.6.0.282 the ring tone volume is very low, even when the profile setting has the tone set to High I often miss the call, I have tried turning on "Audio Boost" with no change, tried a hard re-boot, no change. Volume of calls are fine, it's the ring tones, I have the same ring tone in use as before the O/S upgrade so this hasn't changed, no other (new) apps have been installed, just the O/S upgraded. I can't find any sort of master volume control setting in any of the forums is there such a setting, how do I get the volumes back to normal?

I don't want to update to 3.1.3 because I want to be able to keep my unlock. The only reason I would like to update is because there are a few apps that require 3.1.2 to work.
