I cant seem to be able to update my current version to the newest os6 on my Orange BB9700. When it completes my phone restarts and my screen just is white/grey with all lines going across it.I have to then downgrade to the later OS5 version.
View 1 RepliesI have just received a "Blackberry Bold 9700 Unlocked International Version" which i purchased from Amazon.Com. "This is supposed to be a new unbranded unit".
The installed software version is 5.0.0.351 with platform 5.1.0.98 and branding version 1.0.160.529q.I have read in this forum that there is a later version of the os available yet when I utilized the BB desktop software updater, it say that the latest version is installed. Is this correct?
I also have other issues with applications. I am unable to download and install the "BlackBerry APP World"; I get a message, " Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BlackBerry App World"
"Google talk" give an error messag: " Service not enabled for this hand held" "Blackberry maps" are not loaded on the handset.Setup wizard does not give me the option to set up my personal e-mail only enterprise e-mail.I am able to browse and send and receive MMS & SMS messages.
Kindly advise as to ho to resolve these issues and whether there is a more current software version for the handset, and if so: how do I update it.

Phone is plugged in, computer asks if i want to update, I click yes, computer downloads the new software (25-35 min) but when it starts to transfer to phone an error message pops up saying that the network has timed out. This has happened on two different computers.

For months now I've had the desktop software version 6 and have recently installed an update for it of 6.1; yet it always says there is no update available for software on my phone. However, when I took my phone in for repair they updated it to 0S6, so did they use a leaked version then? The reason I ask is because that phone eventually got replaced with the same make and model but came with the older software, and I miss OS6 but am wary of downloading a leaked version.
So was just looking for some advice really - will Orange be releasing 0S6 for Bold 9700 or will I have to get a leaked version and if so how do I do this, hopefully without causing any problems to my phone?
I'm looking to buy the Bold 9700 on Orange basically due to the UMA feature. However, I have a couple of questions which I hope someone can help with
-regarding the branding/software - have Orange added loads of their own software i.e orange world icons etc? And do they cause phone to be compromised in any way compared to O2, Vodafone etc?
- how is Orange overall as a network for 3G coverage?
today i got my brand new bold 9700!I have found out how to remove the bottom part which is branded ORANGE beneath the keyboard.However i am just wondering as when i turn the phone off an annoying ORANGE
logo is shown and shows when you also turn it on...

I got my 9700 abt 6wks ago, everything was working fine, Then abt 2 weeks ago I started getting "Call Failed" when trying to make calls. Now I get it 90% of the time, and after investigating I can not receive incoming calls either.I have contacted Orange who say it might be a network / location issue, but not sure and have not had any other complaints? However I have not moved and I get this all the time in my house, where as 6weeks ago it was fine. And also when connected in the car driving around in different areas to my home town it still happens.It seems to be a bug on the handset as my signal strength is full 5bars, 3G displayed, etc. Setting under NETWORK MODE - 3G & 2G, if I set this to just 2G then this fixes it!I am running v5.0.0.351 (plat 5.1.0.98).I have tried hard resets, wipes etc, and I finally got Orange to sent me a new handset.Still not working! I have also down loaded and installed what I think is the latest firmware update available for the 9700 from Jordan v5.0.0.442., still no fix so reverted back to v5.0.0.351.I think it might be that I have a weak 3G signal where I live, but switching over to UMA and connecting in my house through this still does not fix it? Is there a known bug that the 9700 gets confused/freezes when trying to switch in and out of 3G/2G/UMA coverage? From Googling Call Failed BB 9700 etc it seems that there are a few others out there with the same issue??? Any help how to fix/what firmware works etc It is driving me crazy because I do not recieve calls, sms etc either!

Opera's website doesn't show a version for the 9700 so I was going to download the version for the 9000. The only problem is the 9000 version doesn't have the 5.0 firmware option available. I alternatively tried to use my web browser with star downloader and after downloading everything it tries to catch file info from Nokia but then the connection is dropped. I had the same problem with PC Suite, so problem is probably how my computer and Nokia support site discuss together. But is the solution (as Nokia support QA suggest) to drop your virus software and firewall down. For me that sounds quite strange. Any help?

After a reboot the white apple logo appears and then it just goes away.I figured out how to get the phone to into recovery mode so that iTunes can do a restore, but I am getting the message that says "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone to its factory settings" All of your media and other data will be erased and the newest version of the iPhone software will be installed.

So, the mobileme deadliner is approaching and I need to upgrade my 3GS to iOS 5 and my imac to LION. I've sorted out the iweb histing via another server (phew) and have tried to upgrade to iOS 5 via itunes (10.6.1) but the message I get is that my iphone software is 4.2.1 and is the current version.
Q 1 - how do I get iOS5 on the 3GS?

I have ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk7_b11_s60_5.0_nocs_beta and it is incredibly slow locating a position on the GPS. I don't use a data plan so I need to know where I can download the current version to my PC.The GPS on both my son's and wife's 5230 seems to snap to position in seconds. They both have one of the 3.03 versions. My 3.06 version takes several minutes in the same location. I had a lot of trouble in the Dominican Republic and in Colombia with 3.06. I notice that all songs are gleaned from the Windows media player on my computer-so I tried to add them to a playlist but with no success. I transferred the files directly to my phone and they end up in files, I am then unable to select them as a ringtone.I don't know how to use the BB desktop to transfer them-it seems to only sync with the playlists of the cds I have ripped.

Turning brightness low, turning everything off. The battery still drained.I came into the store today; low and behold I got my phone restored, didn't help. Do you think there's ANY possible way I can replace my phone to one that doesn't have the newest update?
