I left Verizon and my Curve 8330 for AT&T and the Bold 9000. I didn't have any real complaints about VZW but wanted to upgrade to the Bold and since AT&T has similar coverage in the areas where I live and work, I went for it. Today, after deciding that I needed yet another change, specifically to a newer blackberry that actually still get's OS updates, along with trackpad and more memory, I made the switch back to good old Verizon and ordered a Bold 9650.
I should receive it on Wednesday and I'm so excited. I will miss my current Bold, we've had a great year together, but I'm really looking forward to my new Bold. Did I make the right decision? This was a bit of an impulse buy for me. Is there anyone else here that switched from the 9000 to the 9650?
I was about to download Opera Mini 4.2 for my Bold 9700 w/ 5.0 firmware. Opera's website doesn't show a version for the 9700 so I was going to download the version for the 9000. The only problem is the 9000 version doesn't have the 5.0 firmware option available. What version are you guys using on your 9700's?
I received a replacement BB Bold 9650 and am having difficulty transferring subscription music from VCast Rhapsody. It transferred the first few songs but will not transfer anymore. There is no error message. I did not have this issue with my original phone. I have seen some posts about ensuring MTP is enabled but I do not see an option for Memory to do so. Ho do I ensure MTP is enabled.
I have been having issues with my Bold lately and I am hoping it's software related (Email behaving strangely, not auto finding contacts, not letting me send an e-mail), phone running out of memory 3 times per day, etc. I am running 5.0.0.592 currently, and to begin with it was great! But I really want to clean it up and try a fresh OS. I've heard good things about 681 and 822, but both seem to have their issues. Can some of you who have tried 592, 681, and 822 give me a recommendation on whether to stick with 592 or upgrade to one of the other 2? What about 610? I seem to have seen it mentioned in an older thread as a good one too.
I've been reading some posts here and am curious, some people are mentioning functions my BB doesn't have and I'm wondering why...I connected my BB to the desktop manager and clicked update, according to the DM the latest version is 4.6.0.303 which I have installed.Can anyone confirm this is in fact the most up to date version?
Just upgraded to V5 software on my Bold 9000, I hate the instant messaging type window for sms/mms, is there any way of changing this or have I got to re-install my previous software version?
Wondering if any of u have gotten ur verizon 9650? If so have u noticed ur trackpad left side being higher than right? I ask becuz as we all may know the sprint 9650 has that. Doesn't bother me...nor do I think its defect.

Issue: After upgrading to version 4.6.0.282 the ring tone volume is very low, even when the profile setting has the tone set to High I often miss the call, I have tried turning on "Audio Boost" with no change, tried a hard re-boot, no change. Volume of calls are fine, it's the ring tones, I have the same ring tone in use as before the O/S upgrade so this hasn't changed, no other (new) apps have been installed, just the O/S upgraded. I can't find any sort of master volume control setting in any of the forums is there such a setting, how do I get the volumes back to normal?
Im super siked the the 9650 has arrived and im ready to get rid of the 8330, but with every smartphone of mine i've always had a black silicone smooth skin and a screen protector so if i buy a tour 9630 skin and screen protector will they fit on the bold 9650 right?
I have just received a "Blackberry Bold 9700 Unlocked International Version" which i purchased from Amazon.Com. "This is supposed to be a new unbranded unit".
The installed software version is 5.0.0.351 with platform 5.1.0.98 and branding version 1.0.160.529q.I have read in this forum that there is a later version of the os available yet when I utilized the BB desktop software updater, it say that the latest version is installed. Is this correct?
I also have other issues with applications. I am unable to download and install the "BlackBerry APP World"; I get a message, " Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BlackBerry App World"
"Google talk" give an error messag: " Service not enabled for this hand held" "Blackberry maps" are not loaded on the handset.Setup wizard does not give me the option to set up my personal e-mail only enterprise e-mail.I am able to browse and send and receive MMS & SMS messages.
Kindly advise as to ho to resolve these issues and whether there is a more current software version for the handset, and if so: how do I update it.
My phone is 3 days old and did not have issues until last night. The browser allows me to initally connect ot a webpage, but will not allow me to click on any links. The cursor switches appropriately when just navigating vs. hovering over a link, but the track pad will not regist any "clicks".Has anyone encountered this or know of the fix?
no matter what settings I use on the 9650 "Memory" settings. I cann't get any computer (Windows 7 or XP Pro) to recognize the device as "mass storage device" so I can access the memory card. There is plenty of items on the card, and I can access them fro mthe decive, but the computer won't "find" it. This is with DM 5.0 and 4.7, on windows XP Pro and Windows 7.
I purchased the 9650 bold a few weeks ago. I do not do a lot of texting, but when I do, the texts are pretty long. On my old BB I hit the back arrow key and it saved to draft, (i would often have 4-5 texts in draft before I sent all out) If im not mistaken you cant do this on the new 9650?? Do I need to get an application to assist with this? ANy suggestions? Sorry if this is a rookie question but...Im a rookie when it comes to these phones.
When I upgraded my 9630 to my new bold 9650 I had a 16gb micro sd card in the 9630. I copied all of the files from my card to my computer, put the 16gb card in my 9650 and formatted the card. I then copied all of the files from my computer back to the sd card and put the card back in the 9650. All seems to be ok, I have my pictures etc. When I go to connect my BB 9650 to my computer I get a message on the BB that says: "Content rights do not match this device. Please insert the media card back to the right device." this only happens if I have the memory option set to "Auto enable mass storage mode storage set to NO" Any ideas? Thank You
Is anyone else having trouble using the "Vibrate in Holster" setting? My 8330 would automatically switch to vibrate when I put it in my holster that has the magnetic closure. My 9650 fits in the same holster but doesn't seem to switch to vibrate even though I have that setting chosen under my sounds profiles.
Just wondering if I get a Bold 9650 next week and I back it up with all my apps and settings from my backed up Storm2 9550 file will that happen successfully or should I just reload all apps from scratch?
BTW: I have SocialScope on my Storm2 will it be an easy transfer to my Bold 9650?
Anyone else have this problem? I usually sleep with my Bold in bed with me (who doesn't) lol, and have been waken up many times to a sizzling hot phone. like burning up hot. I put it on the nightstand and seems to cool down. but I always slept with my tour laying next to me in bed, and it never got that hot. Please let me know, or test this theory tonight Just want to make sure it is not a bad phone or battery. thanks for your time.
Not being weird its my alarm clock and i don't have a nightstand on my side of the bed and I sure as heck am not leaving it on the nightstand with my wife's bold. mine needs comfort lol. Also i realize this may have been posted before, but i am more looking for 9650 specific threads. and more charging specific threads as well.
Is the keyboard on the 9650 exactly the same as the 9630? Or is it the same as the keyboard on the 9700? The keyboard on the 9700 is much nicer in my opinion to that of the 9630 as its a little wider it seems and keys seem a touch bigger.
Since my contract is up on Sunday (for me and my mom anyways, my dads isn't until october, so they are making us pay the early termination fee or go without a phone for 3 months, oh and this is Verizon i'm talking about, but you probably could've guessed that) and I am thinking about either getting a bold 9650 or curve 8530 for Sprint, since Verizon makes you add $30 onto each blackberry(crooks). But I was looking at the features and I would like the Bold but for some reason the cheapest I can find it is $99, while the Bold for Verizon I can find for free. My question is, is the Bold a lot better, enough to spend 100 dollars instead of 50? and why is it that I can find the Verizon bold for free but not for Sprint?
I am going to switch to Sprint, coming from AT&T (iPhone 3G) and I'm currently looking to buy a BlackBerry. I will mostly use it for BBM and not necesarily for web browsing. Which is best for me, the Curve 8530 which is free or the Bold which costs $150?
I searched but could not find an answer so I apologize if this has been brought up before.I was one of the fortunate group that was able to exchange a defective tour for a brand new in box bold. I was going through the device switch wizard today when I happened to be holding both devices side by side. I noticed that the screen on the bold is significantly more yellow than that of the tour. I have not noticed this issue discussed previously.Do I have a defective unit or is this the standard bold screen? Thanks for any input/info you can give. Why can't RIM develop a Bold 9xxx with the body of the Bold 9000 with larger memory, Trackpad, better camera? They've done it with the Tour and Curve. Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.
Quick question. I am starting a new Job and they are getting me a superbasic Perl. I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...
I dropped my BlackBerry Bold 9000 on the weekend and damaged the LCD screen. The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.
