BB Desktop Software :: Software Update Stalled Due To Device Encryption Lock
Sep 6, 2010
I'm in the middle of the latest software update using my PC based laptop. I'm at the restore stage and now it's stalled with a message saying "Device Encryption is Turned On. Your Blackberry Device is currently locked. To continue unlock your device". I've turned off encryption on the device, but the latop is frozen on the error message and I can't seem to move to any other screen in the update mode. Anyway able to offer a solution?
Motorola XPRT has stalled in the download of the update to Gingerbread. I set it to download in the first evening it was available, it got to 6% or so and seemed to stall out. When I go to the update firmware function it tells me that the update is currently downloading. How to Stop it downloading ?
Actually I have a limited internet package in my blackberry device which not give me a chance to update my bb Msgr directly through web..and I am asking if I could do it through desktop manager?
I just got this Blackberry on Dec 31, '09.I installed the DM software from the CD and now I was going to attempt to synchronize my phone with the desktop for the first time. When I plugged the phone in to the PC, it immediately said there were updates available and I just kept hitting Next until it apparently started the 12-step update process. Now my PC has been sitting at the download step (Step 3 of 12) downloading the same module for over 30 minutes now.
After recently updating the Desktop Manager to 5.0.1, the Redirector no longer operates. When opening it, i get the error message."Desktop Redirector has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry..." I've unistalled Destop Manager, reverted back to 5.0.0 and I still have the same issue. This was and is currently setup with my Outlook 2003 (SP3) exchange server to forward my work emails, and it worked up until I updated to 5.0.1 last week.
I have recently updated my Z3 (D6603) to Android 5.1.1 by OTA update. After the update I appear to have a weird encryption issue. My phone was encrypted before I updated.
I have a device policy that needs my phone to be encrypted. I am getting en error via the status bar saying 'Device encryption required'. When I click this it takes me to the device policy app where I am unable to do anything re encryption.
So I had a look in the security settings and it shows my phone as encrypted. So I thought it would be best to decrypt the phone and then re-encrypt it. However when I click the 'Encrypt phone' setting nothing happens, the menu just stays where it is.
I have restarted my phone and cleared the cache just in case, but the problems persists.
I cannot seem to find where and how to turn on the device memory encryption on E7-00? Does this even have the feature? Former E series devices used to have 128 bit AES encryption with ability to export the key. Security code and/or remote locking is not enough, I NEED the proper encryption like in my previous E75.
I just got my Blackberry 9700 replacing my previous Palm 755. When I first used the Device Switch Wizard form the Blackberry Desktop Manager I was able to transfer all the data from my Palm Desktop to my Blackberry. I performed this for about four times as I modified my contact list. Now it aborts the transfer and receive a message saying:
"Desktop organizer data was not imported successfully. Errors occurred during the process"
I have since removed the Blackberry Desktop Manager software completely and reloaded - no result. I upgraded the Desktop Manager with automatic update - no result.
I type in my password which I know to be correct, or I'd have been locked out of it a long time ago, and it just keeps popping up. I can't back up my device or anything with the PC. What gives? Is it looking for a different password?
I switched data from my old device Storm 9500 to my new device BB bold 9700 using the newest BB desktop manager. After data got switched I got a small popup asking me do i want to delete data from my old blackberry.... I said yes (why not)... So my new bold 9700 got wiped ?! somehow.
After i used the auto backup file created which had data from the Storm device to "restore" data to bold 9700 once again it just got the ipd backup file which had loads of messages..... overwritten and i lost the data from the Storm entirely. Can i get it back anyhow. I tried some undelete software... but no luck so far... appart from recovering a few images...
It may sound trivial to some but one of my favorite BB functions was lost during the recent update and I can't seem to find how to restore it. I used to have the keyboard lock function assigned to the left side convenience key. This was really essentail for me to have and now it is not available for me to assign when I try to assign something for the left side convenience key. I know the Tour has the option on the top of the phone to lock it but even when this is pushed, it will still unlock in my bag. How can I restore this option?
I just got the Blackberry Bold 9000 today. When trying to update the device software via the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. I received this error message. "The device does not have enough space for your selections. Select fewer applications." Desktop Manager shows that I've 0KB amount of space on my phone. I am currently using BlackBerry Desktop Manager v5.0.1.37. The free space on my phone s 29084828 Bytes. My BlackBerry's version is 5.0.0.592. I cannot update or delete software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. I've also noticed a similar thread that has the same problem as me but there wasn't any solutions provided. Anybody? Update #1: Here's the error screenshot of the Blackberry Desktop Manager.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. The phone updated to 5.1.1 and after that the phone prompts to update security settings for email account. Then it will take you to a phone encryption screen and the encryption reboots the phone, but then keeps looping. I do have an exchange account and our company requires to have encryption on the phone. I just installed the Nine Exchange and it is working without any issues, but how can I fix the other way I access email?
I upgraded to Lolipop about a week ago. Everything was good.
Today however, I changed my device unlock passcode from PIN (6-digits) to a full password (6-characters). I restarted my device shortly after, as I knew the phone was encrypted and wanted to ensure the encryption password was updated accordingly. Now it's not taking the new 6-letter password, nor my old 6-digit PIN on the unencrypt screen. I'm down to 8 attempts left before it will factory reset. (update: ended up having to factory reset...)
I can assure you that I remember the 6-letter password I entered as my new one, since I restarted right after I changed it, and it's the same one I use for many things.
I run and support our MDM platform for our company and have had 3 users report the same problem. I was skeptical at first, thinking these people simply forgot their passcode, but now I am in the exact same boat as them.

I've been told by a few users that once the Lollipop update was released on Rogers for the Galaxy S5, they have been prompted to de-encrypt their devices.if there is any way to circumvent this 'requirement'.
I received a notification that I needed to update the Desktop software to v5.0.1 2010-03-25 and so downloaded the 250MB file. When I clicked on install, after a few seconds I received the message "There was an error installing updates. Click here to see the updates that have not been installed". This download process has happened a couple of times. I have tried and tried to run the installation, but keep getting the same message.
I then checked the version of my BB Desktop software and found that it was 5.0.1.18 [Aug 21 2009]. The update notification is therefore for a newer version, or so it seems. Can anyone help with reasons why it wont install, or give me some pointers how to get round whatever is preventing the installation. I don't want to have to keep downloading 250 mb files every night if I can help it.
I have enabled the encryption feature on my phone's internal storage, and it seems to work well. However, it is working too well for me. I can't seem to access any of my data from my PC via USB. It all looks fine from the phone itself but I can't figure out how to pull the data in unencrypted form from the phone over to the PC.
My LG G3 is a great phone, I've had it for two months (almost) with no problems... But this is the second time that, when it's plugged in and "says" it's charging, it stalls at X percentage (last time was 33%; now it's stalled at 27%). I've tried switching outlets; and while it worked last time, it's not working this time. Needless to say, I am panicked. This phone is brand new and shouldn't be doing this. Is it possible that it could be the charger? The port hasn't been messed with, no new apps have been installed, I haven't even dropped the phone yet.
Update: It is now charging from an outlet that "didn't work" the other day. I am starting to hypothesize that it's the charger that is the culprit.
Downloaded and installed latest OS for my 9700.On the very last stage "Restore Device Data", my loader stalled and I'm afraid may not complete. Any information on how I can protect my data and the phone's data and how I can restart the loader?
I recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to password enable lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.The standby button (top right) doesnt do anything anymore, pressing and holding * button doesnt work to password lock the phone either.
I have downloaded the BB Desktop Manager.I plug in my Bold but the Desktop Manager does not "see" that there is a device plugged in.I've checked the cord, the USB ports. All are in working order. So I am unable to do synch my Outlook.
