i'm trying to make a switch to my BB curve 8330 to BB Tour 9630. i'm using the DM, and appear stuck on "Connect to device ROM". i click cancel button, but the DM do nothing. i'm just want if takes too long or is a problem? i have about 1 hour stuck.
View 4 RepliesI just got my Blackberry 9700 replacing my previous Palm 755. When I first used the Device Switch Wizard form the Blackberry Desktop Manager I was able to transfer all the data from my Palm Desktop to my Blackberry. I performed this for about four times as I modified my contact list. Now it aborts the transfer and receive a message saying:
"Desktop organizer data was not imported successfully. Errors occurred during the process"
I have since removed the Blackberry Desktop Manager software completely and reloaded - no result. I upgraded the Desktop Manager with automatic update - no result.

AFTER A MONTH WITH THE 9700 I JUST RAN THE SWITCH DEVICE WIZARD TO PORT SOME APPS AND SUCH FROM CURVE 8310.NOW EVERYTHING ON THE 9700 LOOKS LIKE THE 8310 AND I LOST ALL MY SMS/E-MAILS/ETC BUT THE APPS HAVE ALL SWITCHED OVER(EVEN THE THEME IS NOW FROM THE 8310)I THOUGHT I HAD A HANDLE ON THIS BUT APPARENTLY DO NOT - RAN THE SWITCH BACK WIZARD ONLY TO BE IN THE SAME BOAT AS BEFORE.HOW BAD IS THIS AM I COMPLETELY UNABLE TO RESTORE MY ORIGINAL 9700 SETTINGS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used the Device Switch Wizard in the Desktop Manager to switch from my old Bold 9000 from AT&T to a new Bold 9650 from Sprint but guess what... I had already started using the new Bold and when I did the 'Device Switch' thing, it wiped all the data I had saved in the new one. So now I have the text messages I wanted to save from the old one but lost everything (and I mean everything) else. Is there any way to reverse the operation?I still have the Desktop Manager open and both phones connected. I am scared to disconnect or turn off my computer just in case.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm switching from an 8800 to the 9700. When I connected the 8800, whatever it did took a few minutes (it has you connect the old device). Then I connected the 9700 as it asked me to, and that was at least an hour and 15 minutes ago. It says "Task in progress", and on the progress bar it has not moved a millimeter. Like, nothing. I have maybe 30-40 contacts and no extra software, and 3 messenger contacts.

I went from a 7290 to a 8320 and when I went to use the 8320 it stared throughting multiple Uncaught Excaption: ApplicationRegistery.waitfor and Java.Lang.Error. The phone does not like to talk to the computer throuht the usb hook-up link to sync. This Phone is not going to be used for internet access through my Cellular service, wich is AT@T. The Phone was bought unlocked because I use the office features and I want to use the WI/Fi.The Phone was origionally a TMobile.The opperating System on the phone is : v4.5.0.37 Platform 2.7.0.55 The origonal Desktop softwear used was version 4.6 I believe, I now have Version 5.0 installed. I do not hve the origional software disk for the phone. I have gone through several blogs and found some problem that were close but wanted to make sure I didnt blast the phone. I would like to get this phone to function correctly so I can keep my work straight.

I could certainly build it up from scratch, but the Switcher could make life easier, if it doesn't bring its own unique set of problems with its use.Any insights from those who have used both methods on the same model device?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have already installed the new Desktop Manager 6.0 that I downloaded from the RIM site.
I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.
I recently upgraded my BB Desktop Manager to the latest version & now it shows as installed, as does the phone. But the icon is not available. I have tried to remove and re-add using Desktop Manager with no success.

I am missing the ribbon module. Been unable to download from the BB Website. I cannot do a show all on the home screen as that option does not exist.
I have created an email account with settings that I know are correct on the iPhone, the mail icon shows an alert with a number of emails on it so I know the mail settings are OK. When I click on the Mail button instead of being taken to my inbox I am presented with the start of the email setup wizard which I would expect to see if no accounts were set up. If I follow the wizard and complete my settings I'm told that the account already exists.How can I get past or cancel the wizard?

Yesterday I used the BB desktop software to transfer settings and stuff from an old device to a new device.I have now noticed that I am not getting any emails on either of the two accounts on the new device.Two accounts are on the new phone and has all emails up until the time I set it up yesterday.if I go to settings then mail I have the two options:
-Internet mail
-Enterprise Account
When I select Internet mail I am asked to input my BB ID. Something I do not have. I never needed to do this on my old BB.I have been into host routing table and registered the device and got email to say device was registered. I waited 2 hours but still no new emails arrived. I have done this by wifi and GSM

There are no other apps installed other than what there is out of the box.Removing the battery did not help.I went mobile.blackberry.com on the device, selected England as my country then it loaded a login page in French.
I bought a 2nd hand 8900 but it doesn't have the wizard to set ip my email I've looked in all options and menus but there is nothing for email. I set up blackberry in my company and I wonder if this device is set to enterprise activation instead of other activations. I called my carrier o2 but the weren't helpful and said it was because I was on the wrong tariff and didn't have an o2 email address. I've wiped the device could updating the software out this back? It doesn't show a carrier when I start it up I think it was originally purchased as a sim free device. Any thoughts?

Installation of the DM went through fine. When it is started up, the following message is displayed:
"Before you begin, verify that your current Blackberry device is connected to your computer."
When I connect the device to the computer via USB cable, DM is forced to close.
I type in my password which I know to be correct, or I'd have been locked out of it a long time ago, and it just keeps popping up. I can't back up my device or anything with the PC. What gives? Is it looking for a different password?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI switched data from my old device Storm 9500 to my new device BB bold 9700 using the newest BB desktop manager. After data got switched I got a small popup asking me do i want to delete data from my old blackberry.... I said yes (why not)... So my new bold 9700 got wiped ?! somehow.
After i used the auto backup file created which had data from the Storm device to "restore" data to bold 9700 once again it just got the ipd backup file which had loads of messages..... overwritten and i lost the data from the Storm entirely. Can i get it back anyhow. I tried some undelete software... but no luck so far... appart from recovering a few images...

i am switching to a new blackberry curve 9300 os6 my last one does not work at all but it is backed up on my computer and on blackberry protect but when i try to install blackberry protect on the new phone i do the setup process and when it gets to the "connect" part it wont connect. i cant transfer all my files etc from the broken phone from blackberry desktop either using blackberry desktop it asks me to connect my old device-which doesn't work at all.

As soon as I got home, I did the device switch operation with my BB desktop software without any problems too, but today I noticed something was diferent, I don't have or find anywhere in my phone the OS 7 digital compass. I know it's no big deal, but it was a nice app and would really like to install it on my new BB. So I had to replace my phone. I did a device switch using BB desktop. My BBID will not work. It will not even accept my ID as valid. This happened the last time I broke my phone too. I was not able to restore my ID then either and had to make a new one. I don't want to do that again. I'd acatually like to recover both so I can get all the apps I have paid for back...
Actually none of my emails work... they did when I first activated the phone, now nothing. Texts work but not any Email.
I switched to new Bold 9900, need to switch my blackberry email address from old device to new 9900, No problem switching my non blackberry email address. It will not let me reload my previous blackberry address, wants to add a 1, 2, or a 3 to my name. I guess I need to ell the Blackberry server my new device.

I just got a new curve 8320 and I've installed the Blackberry Desktop Manager v 5.0.1.18
It connects to my BB fine via usb cable but in Add/Remove Applications, it comes up blank with the message "No software is available for your device".
Also, when I try to install the Media Manager, it gets stuck at "downloaded 59.7MB out of (unknown)" and then the loading box just disappears. I've tried just reclicking the Install button and the same things happens.
I've tried to look online for the Media Manager file to download separately but nothing came up.
I recently upgraded my Desktop Software to 7.0, and when I connected by Tour to sync it has been at the "Preparing sync preview" screen for about 40 minutes with the bar completely green. Is this a glitch with the new 7.0 software?
