BB Curve :: No Keys On My Keyboard Work?

Motorola Droid 2 :: Keyboard Shortcuts If Soft Keys Don't Work?
Oct 9, 2012Without warning, my soft keys stopped working. When I press one, they activate whatever is on the touch screen above them. (For instance, the menu soft key is right below the widget on my home page for contacts. When I press the menu soft key, it activates the contacts widget rather then accessing menus.) I tried a factory reset (I'll spare you the frustrating story of how the backup app I paid for doesn't seem to have worked as promised for me, though thousands of others love it), which included clearing the cache and was done using the external keys not via the reset option in settings. Freshly restarted, prior to adding any of the apps or changing anything, the soft keys still exhibit that behaviour. (Though, come to think of it, I also think the wallpaper stayed, which makes no sense to me. Everything else had to be reconfigured and the reset/cache clearing didn't throw any errors...hmz...)
The Droid 2 keyboard has a back button, which I've been using non-stop since the soft keys went out on me. And a search button, but I never use that. I can get by without a way to simulate having the home key (though I wouldn't mind that). But, as you can imagine, the lack of a functioning Menu key is a serious impediment. I love my Droid 2 enough that, rather than use my "new every 2" to upgrade to a Droid 4, I'm hoping to either fix my issue (which could include fixing the soft keys OR findind a keyboard shortcut for the Menu key) or buy a "new" Droid 2.
So, anyone have either a troubleshooting suggestion other than a reset (tried twice now) and/or know a magical shortcut on the physical keyboard that will do the same thing as the Menu soft key?(Phone is not rooted and has the latest version of Android that Verizon pushed...Looks like 2.3.4)

May 5, 2012my keyboard on my phone will only let me type a j and a k once I press one of them, and the j key types a k and the k key types a j, none of the other buttons do anything when it happens and so I have to reboot, when it does it all over again, what shall I do?Also, the screen goes black after a while if I keep trying other buttons meaning I need to reboot again.

Aug 22, 2010I put my AT&T 8310 in an aftermarket hard shell case, trying to protect the keyboard. When I pulled it out some of the keys weren't working. Gradually some are coming back, but the delete/backspace key doesn't work (sometimes it kicks in and does a Pac Man) and the Alt Back combination to bring up switch applications isn't working even though both keys work independently.

May 6, 2010I have the 8900 and my carrier is Tata Docomo. None of the keys and the trackball are working, This includes the mute key on top of the phone, the lock key, the side push button keys , . . all keys are not working. And neither is the trackball.I flashed the OS, as in reinstalled the OS, 5.0.090 (Platform 4.0.023) but that didnt solve the problem.
I've also plugged out the media card, to avoid any conflicts.Have done hard resets of course, but thats not helped either.Except for the keys not functioning, the phone is otherwise functioning, I can recieve calls, which I of course cant pick up. I am being able to use it as a modem and connect to the internet using Desktop Manager. The Desktp manager is detecting the phone, too.
The Desktop manager version I am using is 5.0.1.11.Out of the 252.5 M device space available, I have 131.0 M free.
BB Curve 8900 :: Keyboard Will Not Work
Jan 25, 2010My Curve 8900 is less than 6 months old, and suddenly the keyboad will not work, so I cannot make/receive calls, and although the trackball works, it will not "click" to unlock it. Seems to be an intermittent fault. As I own the Blackberry (it is not bought through a service provider), I tried to contact Blackberry customer services UK, who seem to be reluctant to deal with consumers. My service provder, O2 were much more helpful. How can I get a replacement/repair under warranty, or fix the problem?

Oct 26, 2010I have the torch 9800 and there appears to be a bug with the on screen keyboard. After viewing a few pdf files in Repligo Reader I went to compose an email. I noticed that the on screen virtual keyboard was missing the outlines around the individual keys and the alt, shift, language selection and delete keys are not displayed. Also the background of the keyboard is all gunmetal grey and the keys are white with no outlines as mentioned above. I can still use the keys, touch the area where the keys are not displayed and the functionality remains intact. This happens in both horizontal and vertical mode. If I change the vertical keyboard to compact mode in options the vertical keyboard is displayed normally. I have reproduced this issue, reported it to the Repligo Reader developer and the only way to resolve it is a hard reset or full device restart.

Feb 13, 2010I had my bb 9700 for 2 days and im not super satisfied with it as i thought i would be. first problem is I can not hold down the alt key and type other special characters continously. I have to press the alt key , let go , then click the other key which is really annoying. I talked to a rogers rep online and they helped me reboot my phone software and it still has this problem he said i might need a replacement which I dont want because of the inconvenience.
And the keyboard in general is really hard to type on. Compared to the curve 8900, it is so much easier to type on that. the keyboard on the 9700 feels alot stiffer and most of the time when I try to type at a fast speed it doesnt get all the letters i type even though i know i clicked it. once i turn off my 9700, I cant turn it back on. the only way to turn it on is the remove the battery and put it back in. I searched on google and it seems like a few other people are also having these problems but theres no solution.

Aside from what mentioned above there are 2 more things that’s bother me...
1. There are some bloatware on the phone provided by sony but there are no options to uninstall them.
2. While on call nothing else works the soft keys gets disabled, you can’t type a msg the keyboard doesn’t come up. This was how it was in my Z as well. In the forum some people mentioned that it got resolved in the 4.3 update, however i don’t think it is yet.

Aug 16, 2010I am having issues with the keys not working properly on the touchscreen keyboard. When the phone is in portrait and I press on a key what shows up is the key at the left end of that row ex: if I press L an A shows up on the screen, if I press U I get a Q. If I turn the phone so that the keyboard is now on the same side as the USB port I only get whatever buttons are on the bottom of the screen. If I turn it 180 degress none of the keys work.
I have also noticed this happening in applications like Google Latitude. If I press any of the icons on the bottm of the screen the only one that registers is the zoom out key.
If I do a battery pull things work well for a bit and then it starts acting up again.
I haven't seen anyone else posting about this and I am hoping that it is just this phone. I am exchanging it tonight.
Motorola Triumph :: Keyboard Frequently Not Recognizing/displaying Touched Keys?
Aug 23, 2011I frequently turn the Triumph sideways to use the larger keyboard (easier to press buttons). After the first few letters I press are displayed, I can hear the phone click to acknowledge that I pressed a key, but nothing is displayed on screen.Items of note:
-The audible click when a key is pressed but doesn't display is not the same sound as when a key is pressed and actually displays correctly on-screen.
-often, but not always, when the phone is turned upright, the missing key presses will appear after all as successfully typed in the display.This is my first smartphone. Is this a problem with the gyro-rotation logic? Is this a common problem with phones in general? Is it a symptom reated to scren protectors?
-I have not removed any screen protector meant to be permanent to the phone. I believe there was a bluish film meant to be removed (which I did - at least therewas definitely one over the camera lens)
-I did carefully apply a ZAGG Invisible Shield universal screen protector. NOTE: It was not quite as large as as the Triumph screen and thus the top edge of it lies slightly into the front-facing camera lens and the sensor on the upper right.
