BB Curve :: Keyboard Keys Are Pressing Different Characters
May 5, 2012
my keyboard on my phone will only let me type a j and a k once I press one of them, and the j key types a k and the k key types a j, none of the other buttons do anything when it happens and so I have to reboot, when it does it all over again, what shall I do?Also, the screen goes black after a while if I keep trying other buttons meaning I need to reboot again.
I checked my phone today and it had been working up to 3PM and after somewhere between then and 5PM I had been apparently locked out of my phone.. The screen won't appear no matter the keys I press.. I have tried unlocking it.. I have tried Standby Mode and I have taken the battery out multiple times, but nothing seems to work.
Sons screen only stays on if you keep pressing the keys around YUI and the go back button once you relaease your fingers the screen goes off put your fingers back on and it reappears
I love my htc one m8 but since I have received the phone 2 weeks ago there has been an error. For example, just today I tried typing a message to my mom and out of nowhere the x, s and z buttons just keep pressing. The phone will allow me to delete the letters sometimes and other times it will just freeze. It is very annoying.
Please see the last row of the keyboard. At your right end there is a control key which can mute the sound next to that " & " and " ' " are in the same key. but when i press that key dot " ." is coming next " ," (comma) is coming after that its written " ? " and " ( " but when i press " ` " is coming. Is there any problem in the mobile?
I put my AT&T 8310 in an aftermarket hard shell case, trying to protect the keyboard. When I pulled it out some of the keys weren't working. Gradually some are coming back, but the delete/backspace key doesn't work (sometimes it kicks in and does a Pac Man) and the Alt Back combination to bring up switch applications isn't working even though both keys work independently.
I'm having issues with the keyboard on my BB Curve 8900 (T-Mobile Austria (in Europe)). Can't get any of the keys to respond, unless I hold down either of the following four keys - P/@; del; enter; num lock (all on right side of keyboard). Everything else works fine, but I have to hold down one of those four keys to get the phone to do anything.
I m unable to restart my bb bold 2 by pressing the alt + right shift + Del keys d red light flashes & a mssg appers.. media card inserted.. all media files will be copied & d screen jus flashes back on immd!
when I type "o" -- i get "ok" when I type "r" I get "rf" when i type "k" I get "ok" when i type "n" I get "nj" when I type a -- it opens the contacts
I have deinstalled all apps -- reloaded OS 7.1 tried just about everything problem started at noon today and happened on and off for a while but now is all the time.part of the problem now is i cant unlock the bb due to the password letter combination -- have to access it through desktop manager.
So, I usually use Swiftkey, but their most recent updates are causing serious lag (or perhaps its the s6..I dunno)
Anyway, I used the Samsung stock keyboard and I'm pretty happy with it. However, I can't get past the fact that I cant long press a key to insert my shift-characters.
I've seen some people on youtube already have this on their keyboard. But mine doesnt? Does this have something to do with US-Keyboard vs International?
I've had my xoom for quite some time now and this has bothered me from day one and I can't figure out how to make it stop. On the keyboard, if you hover ever so slightly too long over the "s" or the "e" or any number of letters on the keyboard the xoom changes that to a special character. How do you turn this blasted thing off. I NEVER use those, will NEVER need them and don't want the keyboard to do it.
I recently used someone's HTC One with dedicated number keys and was curious how to enable that. I exhausted every option on phone and even checked some of the popular apps like SwiftKey and nothing.
I have the torch 9800 and there appears to be a bug with the on screen keyboard. After viewing a few pdf files in Repligo Reader I went to compose an email. I noticed that the on screen virtual keyboard was missing the outlines around the individual keys and the alt, shift, language selection and delete keys are not displayed. Also the background of the keyboard is all gunmetal grey and the keys are white with no outlines as mentioned above. I can still use the keys, touch the area where the keys are not displayed and the functionality remains intact. This happens in both horizontal and vertical mode. If I change the vertical keyboard to compact mode in options the vertical keyboard is displayed normally. I have reproduced this issue, reported it to the Repligo Reader developer and the only way to resolve it is a hard reset or full device restart.
I had my bb 9700 for 2 days and im not super satisfied with it as i thought i would be. first problem is I can not hold down the alt key and type other special characters continously. I have to press the alt key , let go , then click the other key which is really annoying. I talked to a rogers rep online and they helped me reboot my phone software and it still has this problem he said i might need a replacement which I dont want because of the inconvenience.
And the keyboard in general is really hard to type on. Compared to the curve 8900, it is so much easier to type on that. the keyboard on the 9700 feels alot stiffer and most of the time when I try to type at a fast speed it doesnt get all the letters i type even though i know i clicked it. once i turn off my 9700, I cant turn it back on. the only way to turn it on is the remove the battery and put it back in. I searched on google and it seems like a few other people are also having these problems but theres no solution.
I have been using the Z2 for some time now and totally in love with the hardware design and the nicely laid out interface. Though sony decided to discriminate the Indian users by not giving the noise cancellation head or the LTE model ....considering its 50K phone here ... which is not cheap  Aside from what mentioned above there are 2 more things that’s bother me...
1. There are some bloatware on the phone provided by sony but there are no options to uninstall them. 2. While on call nothing else works the soft keys gets disabled, you can’t type a msg the keyboard doesn’t come up. This was how it was in my Z as well. In the forum some people mentioned that it got resolved in the 4.3 update, however i don’t think it is yet.
I have got a new Xperia X10 mini Pro. Th problem is that the slide out keyboard mapping is probably wrong or some setting needs to be done. When I press a key with "?" on the slideout keyboard I get a ":" on the screen. This happens for other symbols also Numbers and alphets are correct only the symbols are messed up.
In my brand new xperia x10 mini pro the slide out keyboard keys are mixed up - instead of "," I get "?", instead of "." I get "?" etc. I run software update, software repair - nothing changed. I get only 2 types of Chineese as Input method.
The keyboard appears to be a English design with no other symbols but the software seems to be finish because when i press the full stop button it comes up with ä and i have to press ! to use the full stop.
Blackberry tour 9630 working fine all of a sudden couldn't get any key on the keyboard to work. The "lock" keyboard button isn't locked and physically can't use phone keys or trackball to "engage" the device. When I receive a call, the screen displays (comes out of sleep) but I can't answer the phone, ignore the phone, etc. It's like the keyboard lock button all of a sudden locked and now won't unlock?
Without warning, my soft keys stopped working. When I press one, they activate whatever is on the touch screen above them. (For instance, the menu soft key is right below the widget on my home page for contacts. When I press the menu soft key, it activates the contacts widget rather then accessing menus.) I tried a factory reset (I'll spare you the frustrating story of how the backup app I paid for doesn't seem to have worked as promised for me, though thousands of others love it), which included clearing the cache and was done using the external keys not via the reset option in settings. Freshly restarted, prior to adding any of the apps or changing anything, the soft keys still exhibit that behaviour. (Though, come to think of it, I also think the wallpaper stayed, which makes no sense to me. Everything else had to be reconfigured and the reset/cache clearing didn't throw any errors...hmz...)
The Droid 2 keyboard has a back button, which I've been using non-stop since the soft keys went out on me. And a search button, but I never use that. I can get by without a way to simulate having the home key (though I wouldn't mind that). But, as you can imagine, the lack of a functioning Menu key is a serious impediment. I love my Droid 2 enough that, rather than use my "new every 2" to upgrade to a Droid 4, I'm hoping to either fix my issue (which could include fixing the soft keys OR findind a keyboard shortcut for the Menu key) or buy a "new" Droid 2.
So, anyone have either a troubleshooting suggestion other than a reset (tried twice now) and/or know a magical shortcut on the physical keyboard that will do the same thing as the Menu soft key?(Phone is not rooted and has the latest version of Android that Verizon pushed...Looks like 2.3.4)
I have had the Milestone 2 for 5 months now. Last week, the keys on the slide-out keyboard started double triggering - not always and not all of them, but it started with the "o" & "p" & seemed to spread. Turning off & removing battery has made no difference. It definitely is not the way I press as I had zero double triggers until this moment. Is there a way to reset the repeat rate?
