I have reason to believe my employer mave have installed some sort of spyware on my blackberry 8530 curve. The phone was in my possession when the IT manager was talkling to me. After approx. 3 minutes my phone buzzed ( I keep on vibrate).

want to make sure my employer hasn't installed any spyware software on my device. From my reading, you can look for signs such as spikes in data transfers when you're not using the phone, that sorta thing. I'd like to be absolutely positive there is no spyware installed, and so what I'm thinking is that in a week or two, I'd like to do a re-installation of the blackberry OS system software. I'm on a mac, and my understanding is that I can take the phone in to an AT&T store and they could do the reinstallation for me. If I were to do that, would I also have to reinstall all of the apps I've downloaded? And short of this method, is there any proven spyware detection software I could use to avoid having to take these steps?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed the Blackberry messenger on my Bold 9000. It's fully functional.I have 4 small icons now, indicating that I have new messages, but I can't find any new once.
Looking into this matter I found that in my Application Center, the BB Messenger is listed as "not installed" even though I installed it. Re-install also hasn't helped.i cannot delete it as "delete" is not listed in the menu. I'm also not able to see the application using teh Desktop Manager.
so my question are:
1) How can I find out what are the 4 icons indicating?
2) How can de-install my messenger now to just start from scratch?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy fiance's phone is having issues, i've been trying to get a backup created and do an os upgrade on the phone to the latest release but I'm having no luck. everytime i hook the phone up to a system (have tried 3 with the same issue) the phone reboots once the drivers are loading on the system for the phone. This continues to happen as the phone is loading up and puts the phone into a loop until i unhook the phone from usb. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas how i could get a backup for the phone to atleast save her contacts and other information, or any idea what i can do to get a new os loaded.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i try to update my apps, i click on the app i want updated. i then click on update. the update begins to download, and everything is fine. but when the update is finished it does not install. instead, as soon as it is downloaded i will get a loading icon in the middle of my screen then my blackberry turns off and reboots. this happens with every app, and also happens when i check for OS updates.

I nuked it , did a fresh install, reinstalled apps manually rather than restoring and I restored my data (email, sms, mms, etc). The install went smooth I configured the icon layout and such and seemed ok. As I have been using it I have been having a few issues hat are becoming more and more troublesome to the point I may have to go back to 4.6 even though I really don't want to so I hope I am having either a common problem or a fixable one.
when I put the bb in the cradle to charge and I take it out the screen goes white sometimes. I know from reading old posts that it is a bedside mode problem. I tried bedside mode off but then the keyboard and screen stay lit and that is annoying at night so I put bedside mode back. Is there any fix for either bedside mode or to have everything dim like it was in bedside mode?
when the screen goes off (like from lack of use to save power) and I press any key to wake it up I get what seems like the backlight turning on but the screen is still black. I have to press various keys to wake it up so I can use it again. Is this common and if so is there a fix or a known cause? I might have others but I can't recall them now but these are the 2 main ones.

I have done a battery pull and when booting up the icons will flash up on the screen but then disappear again. Has this ever happened to anyone? Anyone know how to fix this?

However from the time I have got my phone back, there is no network coverage on the phone. Tried everything in the network connection. Tried manual too but it just does not get any network coverage. I did a wipe handheld to reset it o factory setting. Still the same. Even used different SIM cards to check if that would work.

I have problem with the address Book in the Blackberry Desktop Application shows under- Applications- Address Book (not installed) this is happened after 233 out of 720 Contact of my Outlook contact was synchronized in my black Berry, I can't sync it any more? I went through configuration and reset in the Desktop application and I can click in address book and associate the contact with outlook, when I click OK, it is still "Grey out" in the Desktop Application, and still shows 'Not installed? I Checked for application update and I update the desktop from 5 to 6. It is still Grey out and shows "Address Book not installed"? Interesting point is I have BB Curve 8320 and it is in my BB desktop application and I can sync the address book and the application is not grey out?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI own a BB for only 3 days now. I was wondering if the device was normally sold with Appworld already install? It was not on mine. I wanted to download it today, here the process:
1- Go to BB.com, send the link on my email...err: I don't have internet explorer 5 or higher on my device (can't download it for the same reason!)
2- Go to BB.com to download it on my desktop....err, I use firefox (mac),
3- open VMWare Fusion, run Internet explorer 5, crash.
4- install internet explorer 7...crash
5- Look in the application loader in the desktop manager, I can uninstall/install Appworld on my device! Do it. I still can't see in in my applications.
I bought a 8520 last month and I am using the telephone with the italian language. By mistake I had cancelled some pre-installed apps like DocsToGo and I reinstalled them by ising Desktop Manager. At the same time I got the chance to cancel the languages I don't need. Since then I have problems with the date format: date format should be in the european standard (DD/MM) but it always appears in the US one (MM/DD). This happens only on the desktop, clock, and phone call list. Otherwise sms and calender are correct. I have 4 languages installed at the moment on the device (according to the language option list): Italian, English, English (UK), English (US) and German. With all those languages I have the problem with the date, only if I choose German it's correct. I have been advised to update the firmware, but unfortunately it didn't help.
I have also unistalled some third party programs but it also didn't help. Theme is the standard one and no new one has been installed. This is quite an annoying issue, even though it doesn't dramatically affect the usage of the phone. I did a backup before installing the DocsToGo apps.
I have a curve 8520 & ever since I upgraded the to OS 5 I have been unable to open email attachments as the option isn't there. I have found out that the Attachment Service is no longer installed on my handset & when connected to the Desktop Manager it is not in the application list so there is no option to install it. How do I go about installing the attachment service?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a user (I'm their IT support) who has a BB Curve 8350 (?) and when they try to sync to office 2010 (calendar and address book) it lets me configure it in Intellisync but then gives me an "Microsoft Outlook Not Installed" error directly afterwards. Office is very clearly installed because I can open it up and check email etc. I'm using Windows 7 32 bit OS, Office 2010 32 bit and BBDM 6.0.1 B21. Phone is also updated to 5.0.
