BB Curve 8900 :: Installed Os 5 Reinstalled Application Manually
Jan 25, 2010
I took the plunge and installed OS 5 on my 8900. I nuked it , did a fresh install, reinstalled apps manually rather than restoring and I restored my data (email, sms, mms, etc). The install went smooth I configured the icon layout and such and seemed ok. As I have been using it I have been having a few issues hat are becoming more and more troublesome to the point I may have to go back to 4.6 even though I really don't want to so I hope I am having either a common problem or a fixable one.
when I put the bb in the cradle to charge and I take it out the screen goes white sometimes. I know from reading old posts that it is a bedside mode problem. I tried bedside mode off but then the keyboard and screen stay lit and that is annoying at night so I put bedside mode back. Is there any fix for either bedside mode or to have everything dim like it was in bedside mode?
when the screen goes off (like from lack of use to save power) and I press any key to wake it up I get what seems like the backlight turning on but the screen is still black. I have to press various keys to wake it up so I can use it again. Is this common and if so is there a fix or a known cause? I might have others but I can't recall them now but these are the 2 main ones.
I have recently installed FB 1.6.0.21 through the Desktop Application Loader. I installed this version since I do not have a data plan. My problem is that I can't find the FB icon anywhere. I've googled this and tried all the solutions (restart phone, remove battery, change theme, show all applications) but to no avail. I have a BB Curve 8900 with OS 4.6.1.199.
I've got a Curve 8900 that I want to use purely as a mobile phone; there are several pre-installed files (ringtones and a video (why?) of some artist I've never heard of) that I want to get rid of.Can anyone explain why these files are protected, and whether there is any means of removing them?
I just purchased a blackberry 9220. I tried downloading some applications, games and themes on it and have them installed. But when I tried clicking the apps, nothing's happening or is not working.Btw, i have already installed IOS 7 on my phone.
I wanted to find out how I could increase the application memory on my 8900 as much as possible. Right now it only reads about 109 out of the 256 MB. I've tried deleting some of the unused apps and such but even when I do that it only makes about a 1 MB difference.
I've downloaded the app store twice now and deleted between downloads. Here's the problem, I download it and it installs... unless I select "RUN" once its done, I cant use it. If I don't click "RUN" the app is nowhere to be found. Its not in the downloads folder, app folder or anywhere else I can find, although under "ADVANCED OPTIONS" and "APPLICATION" it does appear. Any one have this problem of know where the apps icon is so I can use it more than just once?
I have many apps running in the background. They don't close even if I go to Menu->Close. They keep running in the background. I can see it when I press Alt+Esc. Here are the apps that wont close.

Hi, I have been searching the internet for quite some time now and I begin to assume that there is no application for BlackBerry which turns your photos into polaroid styled pictures, is this true?
So basically I'm looking for an application which gives a polaroid/vintage touch to the pictures in order to use them online (I was unable to provide picture examples since I haven't got 10 posts).
I have a small problem that a lot of users seem to have with BB 8900. A Blackberry Maps application has been installed on my device (version 4.6.1), but the icon to start it up is missing. I have seen some posts regarding that problem but none of the proposed solutions seem to work, including reinstallation of the application (upon trying I get a message that Blackberry Maps is not compatible with the software I have installed). I have recently updated OS to 4.6.1.231 (platform 4.2.0.108) so my soft is definitely up-to date. I am clueless as to what to do now.
I've been using a daily horoscope program with no problem since I first got my phone a few months ago. Today when I went to use it, it told me an update was available, so I choose to accept the update. When it asked if I wanted to reboot/restart the phone now or later, I selected now. The phone proceeded to update the software and now I can't use my phone at all.
I tried connecting my phone to my computer so I could restore it, but desktop manager says it can't communicate with my phone. And when I plug in the power cord, my phone doesn't even register that it's charging up. So, since so much of my life is connected to my phone, and I can't use my phone at all, I'm squirming. Of course, AT&T online tech support is closed Sundays; I guess nobody else has a phone emergency on Sundays. All I get is a white screen that tells me to reload software.
If I wish to reinstalled handheld software OS5.0 to my BB 9300 curve 3G since it was corrupted, please advise whether the following steps are correct?
1st download blackberry desktop manager version 6.0 or version 5.0 to personal computer (PC) and backup necessary applications and contacts.2nd connect with USB cable to BB handset via PC and start download OS5.0 operating system through local telco service provider.anyone can provide to me correct lingkage to blackberry desktop manager version 6 or 5.
Ohkay i posted a thread last night about a problem with the pre-installed sms application, iv now found a far better third part sms app, is there a way to turn off the pre-installed sms app so i can just use this new third party one ?
I'm not able to view installed applications from the applications manager. The screen goes off for a few seconds and goes back to the root menu. This issue seems to have cropped up ever since i installed the Nokia Bots. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way out to see the list of installed applications?
something is killing my bb battery , it hardly lasts for 8 idle hrs and the same battery on another bb will last for around 2 days if not used too much , I had initially installed quite a few apps and thought maybe this was the reason for the weak battery , so i deleted all the apps and still the same . I dont have any apps other than the normal ones running in the background.
another thing is that my bb keeps hanging , esp while locking and unlocking Its like there is a bug or a virus on the bb I also dont see the name of the person calling when the phone is in the holster but when it is out it shows .....
I have just performed a firmware update and have downloaded and installed all other SW updates available, however although it has downloaded Ovi Maps 3.3 will not install.
you can drag ^ on home screen and see the application which i downloaded from market (free applications) like games etc, i cant see application drawer in my entire menu, i see icon name by application installer but when i open that its empty, so i am still wondering where all downloaded application are? i mean from where i can find them i have only OI file manager which is installed on my phone nothing else?
I would appreciate your help to identify the maps I have installed in my Nokia N97 mini. Through the Nokia Map Loader was not possible. Can you guys please help me?
I am using N97 rom 02-Aug-09. everything was working fine untill i notice tht my phone memory is getting filled up although i never installed any application & i hv set my default memory as mass memory from the very beginning. for nokia care in india the only solution is format/soft.update. moreover they couldn't even trace where the memory is occupying so that it could be set free.
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage. phone memory: 1.97Gb Applications: 647mb Free: 247mb USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory... 2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?! 3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
I am running my E72 on the 031.023 software version. I downloaded the Facebook application from the Ovi Store. It installed correctly. When I run the application, it takes me to the screen where you have to type in your e-mail and password. After typing in my e-mail, when I activate the password field the application freezes for a split-second and then closes spontaneously, with no error message or anything else.I already tried reinstalling the latest software version and reinstalling the application, to no success. I also tried typing in the password before the e-mail, but the same thing happens.I do not want to use those other applications that manage your social networks, I want to be able to use the official facebook application offered by Nokia's official store on my phone which cost me a lot of money and should be able to do these things.
I'm trying to determine if a rogue tracking application is installed on a 8110. The feeling is that all correspondance is being viewed somehow and belived that there is an application reporting to a server calls made/received, emails sent/received, texts sent/received because individual (not owner) is able to voice these things verbatim. I know there are applications like cell phone recon and others that do this type of stuff but difficult to determine if installed. I have an backup IPD and have looked at handheld agents installed via ABC Amber and Paraben.
I recenetly just bought the Galaxy S5 and its working great. But for some reason when I try to add the twitter widget to the home screen or any of the screens I get the message "application not installed." This is only happening with twitter. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the app but same message. I did a factory reset as well but no luck. The application itself works if I go through the app itself.
error message: This application requires the following module, which is not installed:net_rim_crypto when i install app BatteryWatch 1.9.22 version on my BB 9550 OS 5.0.0.1015 pop this windows.why not install autimatic when i upload system? how to fix?
I am having Curve 8900 and Device version is 4.6.1.310 and my service provider is Etisalat UAE, I am not able to install BB App World and also I am not getting any new software update.
I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?
Just got myself a BB 8900, however it dosent seem to have any device memory, i have looked under memory in the options menu and it doesnt say anything about device memory and when i connect it to my PC i cannot find the phone on my computer unless i have a memory card pluged in,
I recently upgraded to a 9860 but when I sync to my desktop, i am getting an error message that says" Application Loader Wizard requires blackberry device manager to be installed. Contact customer support"
