BB Curve :: Using Wi-Fi To Connect To Email, Web Browser?
Jan 3, 2010
Just recently I bought a Blackberry Curve 8900 with tmobile. Now here is the thing, I dont have a data plan of any kind with tmobile. So when I bought the phone I insterted my phone and booted it up. Checked with my seller to make sure it made a phone call.it did. So I knew for sure my SIM card was working just fine.heres where it gets weird.
When I got home, the first thing I did was connect to my wireless network.. using Wi-Fi.. obviously. And from there I went to the Setup Wizard and went through each step. When I got to the Email portion, It gave me two options, I dont remember both but one of them was "set up email through blackberry enterprise server".. or something like that. I was aware that I didnt have a data plan, so I clicked the second option. I went through the process and had EMAIL... through WIFI. I even sent my self email messages to make sure it was working and have proof that i recieved email and sent emaily to myself and others!!! without a data plan!!!
This is what i expected.. i didnt know that this wasnt supposed to happen? and that blackberrys customers were only able to get email if they had a blackberry data plan?Well, naturally i figured everything else would work on a wif connection.. like the iphone. Even though you dont have the 3G data plan one can still access email, web, and aps. So anways, all the apps communicated with the wifi network and my web browser viewed pages on a wireless network.
Then my myfaves dissapeard and gave a java encoding script error or something. So what do i do? i call tmobile and spend hours troubleshooting. Eventually i am able to restore or update my OS with a PC and get my mfaves back. But now my ap world ap wont start and tells me that i need a data plan.. next its my web browser that tells me the same thing, as well as facebook. I am like what is going on?!. AND then when I try to set up email. there is only one option.and thats "setup email through a blackberry enterprise server"..So my question is.if you took the time to read this.why in the world did everything stop working with wi fi and out of nowhere asked me to use a blackberry data service plan?

I contacted my service provider (AT&T), now have the blackberry data plan, received service books, did the options-adv options, registration sent-recieved message on phione that my blackberry is registered, did the re boot at least 5 times. STILL, no browser, no indication of MMS capabilities, no application for email set up.! Every post that I have read, I have done what is being suggested
My web broswer and email is working fine in gprs service..My wifi connection also working fine in opera, facebook and other applications. But my web browser and email is not working in wifi connection.. Do i have to change any settings.
Have recently got a 8520 curve. It will not let me connect to my browser it says "Unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider." Strange thing is it is letting me into twitter and Facebook. It will not let me set up my email either.
Service provider say I have access to internet - I was receiving mails and BBM for a while but have now lost that as well! When connected to desktop software, it says the Browser needs to be installed,....but how to do it?I have looked under options - advanced options - HRT which list a lot of GPRS numbers, and SErvice book has ticks by various things such as Facebook (browser Config) etc?
I would like to know how to connect the phone to the Internet? I've got a Vodafone pay as you go data plan but still can't connect to the internet.I've tried disconnecting the Vodafone network and then reconnecting it back again, still doesn't work. On the right hand corner of the screen, near the signal, it sometimes say 3G, edge, GPRS etc.
I had downloaded Opera mini 4.2 and iheartradio and slacker radio and they all worked perfect for the past 3 days and then all of a sudden they do not work. I get timed out of logins and even google maps app on my phone wont connect. The only app that will connect to the internet is the BB browser (the one that looks like a globe with halo around it). There are no other apps running causing a clog up. There is 6.8GB open in memory, so im stumped????? Someone please help me Im racking my brain trying to figure out what would cause this. The last time it worked was in the morning listening to slacker, then went to lunch tried to get on Opera wouldn't connect, so i got on BB browser, from then on it wont connect with any other app.
I am getting the "unable to connect to the internet" error when i launch the BB browser. I have read quite a few threads and havent seen an answer for my issue.
The odd thing is if i use the Media Net (AT&T browser)....i can connect to the internet. Is there a way to "re-install" the black berry browser? Also my Facebook app give me a "can not connect error" as well
PS this all started after i recieved some "verify this certificate" notices.
i've just bought a Blackberry Curve PAYG - i am trying to set it up, it won't connect to the internet with the vodafone browser or with WiFi, it won't let me set up personal e-mail its only giving me the choice of the business activation thingy and it won't send text messages even though i have checked i ahve credit!!
I've got a blackberry curve 8520 and the other day, it completely wiped itself. I've managed to connect it back to my wifi but whenever i click on my browser and try to load a page it says 'Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later.' even though it says i am connected to the wireless.
When I try to access web sites from the Blackberry browser I get the "Unable to connect to the selected mobile data service. Please try again later" message. This happens whether connected through the T-Mobile network or Wi-fi.When I change the browser settings to the T-Mobile browser I am able to access web site just fine. However I would prefer to use the Blackberry browser because not all pages load correctly with the T-Mobile browser.
I have an active data plan and am connected to an enterprise server. My outlook and webmail e-mails work so I don't think it's a problem with my carrier. I've tried a battery pull, re-sending my service books, etc without luck.I think the problem may have started after connecting to my desktop for the first time in about a year, but I'm not completely certain. T-Mobile support and IT administrator have been no help.
I have a new blackberry and have given my old one to a friend she has put her Simi in and has managed to connect her WI-FI but is unable to connect her email as it keeps coming up with my email address, bbm also doesn't work it says cannot connect to server, does anybody know how to get it to work?
I purchased a new BB curve 9360 & every time I reboot it my emails & browser do not work, my emails stay blank & my browser is not accessible. The only way to fix this problem is to reset my phone software, once I do this it all works again. Why my phone keeps doing this as I'm sick of resetting the software every time?
changed to a contract curve 8520 all working okay on day 1, I had my old PAYG number ported onto this phone now my browser does not work, no email I think more . Customer care say its a problem on BB after number ported they are waiting for a fix can anyone help! if not phone going back
I'm having problems with the internet on my blackberry curve 8520. I'm still receiving emails and bbm is still working but my browser is not loading pages. The blue bar will load fully but the actual web page will never open - it's just stuck on the loading screen. I'm fairly sure I haven't changed any settings or anything but about a week ago it stopped opening the pages.
I'm trying to connect my email to my blackberry so i can recover all my bbm contacts as i had a new blackberry, I KNOW my password is correct but it keeps saying the password is INCORRECT.
Im just picked up my curve 8530 with koodo. I have a data plan with unlimited windows live, hotmail, etc... i go to add my email address and it adds it in the list of addresses in the email setup. So when i go to my messages window and i try to compose an email it says "No message service configured. You will be redirected to the Setup Wizard to setup your email" . I also registered with the koodo bis site so i can view my email addresses on my comp as well.
The past week, my email has stopped coming through to my phone and i cannot connect to the internet. I have full signal and my wifi symbol lights up when i'm in a wifi area but where it once said EDGE it now says GSM.
I updated my 8530 operating system to 5.0.0.734 a couple of days ago. Today I noticed that I had not been receiving email since the update. When I try to use the email connection, I get "Your device had a problem connecting to the server." Is the server down, or have I caused a problem on my BB by updating the operating system?
I want to connect my email address to my Blackberry Curve, but when I open Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup I can only choose this option: I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server. But I just want to connect my BB to my gmail account. How can I do this?
I recently unlocked my 8520 from t-mobile to at&t, i have the data plan with both providers. After i started using the 8520 on the at&t network i noticed that i cannot change my setting from hotspot browser to internet browser anymore which in turn i cannot use the data service with at&t that i am paying for. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.
at the hotel I am in the US there is free wifi--my provider is from another country - Using the hotspot of the hotel my bb connects only to internet and I am not receiving emails and I am not able to use the bb chat. what can I do? this has never happened to me. I usually just scan for networks available..login to the hotspot and everything works.
I am going to try to make this as simple and short as possible. I have a 9300 and it was due for upgrade from A T & T spouse has Iphone wanted new one not in upgrade period. Used my number to do upgrade now email doesn't work on 9300. AT & T Tech tried to help but it was a no go. They stated that Rim might have disabled something but not sure any assistance is wonderful. (even a link to fix it is fine also if it has been posted befor)
