OK in the past (as in last week) I have been able to connect my BB curve to both my laptop and my desktop without issue using the BB desktop manager, and happily synch diary and address books.
This week my husband has decided he wants to install and run microsofts active synch so he can update his old work phone with his photos and music. This was not a problem on our old PC (8 years old). However I have recently bought a P4 dell desktop, and active synch was not already loaded. I'd asked him to wait until I'd run ghost and got a back up of everything but he obviously could not wait.
Since uploading MS active synch my PC no longer manages to connect to the BB curve, so I can't do any synchronising, or updating of software through it. I can however connect and update via the laptop. The laptop does not have outlook, so it's not keeping my diary or address book up to date. Grrr.
I was given a BB Curve 8310 to attempt a repair. When I attach the USB cable to the BB the system tray does not pop up with a notification that says "found new hardware" like it normally does when you plug a BB in. When the phone boots up it displays error msg " JVM Error 513". I attempted to looking into the device by using "cracmem" and "JL_Cmder" and no data is to be found and thus there is nothing to wipe. I suspect that the device has already been wiped thus the no data. I have pulled the battery from the phone and reinstalled; unplugged the usb cable during the BB boot process and nothing is happening. The DM application loader will not allow me to procede due to computer not recognizing the BB device thus it is not generating the "USB:UNKNOWN".
My Blackberry Curve 8530 desktop software will recognize photos on the media card in it, but it will not recognize videos. I can watch the video on the phone, but it doesn't show up in the desktop software.
I have blackberry curve 8310 and it has not been used for a little while. I just recently decided that I wanted to use it again however when I plugged it in i am getting a symbol of a battery with a red slash through it??? It has now been plugged in for a few hours but nothing has changed
Had to replace the SIM card on my Curve 9360 today and now it won't recognize my BlackBerry ID or password. It just says "please wait" and then does nothing for literally hours. I can log in to the BlackBerry website fine so I know my login and password are correct. My cell phone provider says it is a BlackBerry issue. The log in screen gives you 10 tries to log in before it wipes your phone and I'm on try #8.
I'm trying to connect my phone to my computer for the first time, and I'm not having any luck. I've tried my computer and my boyfriend's computer, and it doesn't work on either. When I plug it in to the USB, it charges, so I don't think it's a problem with the cord. The troubleshooting portion of the BlackBerry desktop manager isn't much help, as I don't know how to do?
Just got a second hand Curve 8520 (2010 model) and it's great, but my PC does not recognize my BB using the USB cable. The cable will recharge from the PC but won't connect to each other. I have tried a new cable. My o/s is Windows XP.
I have a Windows 7 PC (64 bits). I have installed today the BB Desktop SW version 6.1.0.36 from BB website. It works fine with my old BB Curve 8900 palm phone, but does not recognize at all my newest BB Curve 9360 palm phone. In particular when I connect the BB device with the microUSB cable to the USB port of the PC, Windows 7 complains to have not installed properly the Device Driver of the BB palm phone. If I look at the PC Device Drivers Management I can see a BlacBerry driver version 4.2.0.14 of 23/06/2011 from research Un Motion.Windows complain that the device type is unknown, all what it says is "Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)".
I have my backup files. But my computer does not recognize my device due hardware problems. Is there any way to upload my backup files without using desktop manager? I should have use blackberry protect in hindsight.
i set a password to unlock my bb device. Three days ago a friend took the bb and tried to discover the password, he tried 8 times. After i tried to unlock the device inserting the right password but it dosen't recognize it. Now i'm so worried about lost all my data, casue i haven't done recently a backup. I hope someone would help me cause i have a lot of data in it and i cannot loose them. The one who tried to unlock the device said that after the 5th attempt he was asked to write blackberry, and now in place of asteriks there appears like normal characters.
Situation: My internet stopped working one day. So I took it to the Sprint store, they said it need a software update.Internet works fine now, but now my computer doesnt recognize it as a moble device. It recognizes it as a removable disk but an unaccessable one. PC drivers or phone drivers?http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn270/barto8/phone.png
About two months ago I bought the Blackberry Curve 3G from Amazon. I bought it unlocked so that when I go back home (I'm from Holland and I'm currently in the US for a year) I can take it with me and use my old sim card. The phone worked fine up until last week; the battery died and when I turned it on as it was charging, I got a message saying the sim card was not available. I turned the phone off again, unplugged it and opened it to see if the sim card was properly inserted. It looked fine so I turned the phone back on: same thing. I've been very careful with my phone, never dropped it, never got wet etc so that can't be it.
It's not the sim card because I tried to put in a different card and that didn't work either. When I tried those two cards in a different phone, they did work.
I contacted Amazon and the company that I bought it from; they told me to contact Blackberry. What can I do??
I have been successfully connecting my 8330 to a desktop PC running XP for quite a while. The device sw is v4.5.0.175. I recently got a new Lenovo T410 laptop, running Windows 7. I have downloaded the DM software (v5.0.1) and verified that my device SW is up-to-date, but the laptop is still not recognizing that the device is connected (via USB). I've tried it in all the USB ports on the laptop, and also followed all the steps detailed in KB13146, with no luck. I can't find anything in any of the forums that reference Windows 7.
My computer doesn't detect my BB , When I try to open the memory card from my computer there is no icon for it.I tried to take the battery out for one minute, but it didn't work , the USB cable is working fine because every time that I connect the usb cable to my computer , a clock shows on my Blackberry screen .

Therefore, I cannot transfer music to my BB. Contacted Rhapsody technical support. Tried:
1. Turning Mass Storage Mode Support OFF
2. Checked what shows up under Control Panel - Device Manager (I'm on Windows 7): Under Portable Devices, shows "E:" (I believe this is the media card that's installed in the BB. Under USB controllers, shows "BlackBerry Smartphone".
3. Launching Rhapsody in "Run as administrator" mode.
4. BB shows up under my Computer only if I turn Mass Storage Mode Support ON. Shows up as removable disk (E:). If Mass Storage Mode Support is OFF, nothing shows up under my Computer. After all above steps, Rhapsody tech recommended I contact the device vendor to troubleshoot and to update the firmware of my device driver. Checked for updates using Desktop Manager and it says no updates are needed.
I have a new laptop with Windows 7. Whenever I plug in my BB to the computer, the BB desktop software starts up & says " connect your blackberry device". When I troubleshoot, nothing has helped. I have tried downloading drivers & reloading the software.

my bb 8320 cannot recognize my 2gb memory card.it says "a media card is not presently inserted in the device" and i can't format it either coz it cannot read my media card.
i have had my curve for 6 months and one day my bbm and blackberry app world got deleted and i went into my local rogers store and they couldn't do anything so told me to re-downlaod the software; i tried but my black berry wouldn't connect to the computer and the app world and bbm download wouldn't recognize my phone. so i don't have either! what can i do?
I am using the BB Curve 9360 and I stumble upon a serious problem. After doing a regular battery pull, my device doesn't recognize the battery anymore. It shows the battery with red X huge centre of screen each time I put it back in. Now I can't use my device anymore and I just used it for 1 year. I updated to OS 7.1 bundle 1647 last week and then this problem shows up. I'm stuck.
The BlackBerry desktop software does not recognize my 8310 after updating to 6.0.1. I am running Vista 64bit, SP2. When I go into the device manager it shows a yellow triangle and says I need to update my driver. Do I need to go back to an earlier version of desktop?
Yesterday I did a back up on my BB and after finished when I sync the BB it said that I required a software update which I did, Release 5.0.0.1168.However now, my BB doesn't recognize any SIM that I try to use in my BB, I lost all the data which is okay as I have a bakup and I can get it back but I cannot get my SIM working, it says all the time, insert SIM card even thought it is already inserted
I have read numerous threads, here at Crackberry and beyond, but I am afraid I have a truly nuked (to ashes) Curve 8310. My son decided he needed a password, then promptly forgot it and wiped the unit out. Being scared that he was really wiping it out (which of course he was), he pulled the battery in the middle of the wipe. I reconnected everything, and it seemed to do a wipe okay. The essential problem now is that I can never get it recognized by a Windows PC when connecting a USB cable. Yes, I have the BB Desktop and app loader installed. A second, known good BB (different model) connects just fine and is recognized. JL_CMDR gives a "port not found" error. Tried invoking LOADER, even with the /NOJVM switch, but nothing ever sees the 8310. Tried the timing issues with battery pull, cable disconnect dozens of times, but I never hear the PC do the double-ding that a USB device has connected, and the Loader application is always blank for the ports.
When trying to download mp3 files, my Torch 9800 is not recognized by my PC. Instead the Torch goes into clock display mode as if trying to charge from the USB.
I may have disabled the option to select the kind of connection by checking "Don't Ask This Again". don't suggest that I go to "OPTIONS", then "MEDIA CARD". There is no such choice.
