just bought this device, trying to install some apps, and getting the "device radio is turned off" issue. i read the forum and tried the battery suggestion, rebooting, and all that. i do not have data plan on this phone, not sure if that is causing it, but my wifi is working fine as i was able to browse ebay and Internet.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHave a BB curve 9300 3g, software ver 6. on a payg contract with Tesco. It worked fine until this morning when I noticed it was rebooting (the same as a battery pull) constantly. It would boot, update security and reboot again. Finally managed to switch off wifi and mobile network to see if this made a difference and the rebooting stopped. I've since switched on wifi, and this is fine.
But as soon as the mobile network is turned on it will try to obtain a signal and within 2 or 3 seconds will start rebooting again. I've tried it with different battery, different sim, with and without microsd card, deleting all apps, upgrading software to latest version etc etc but nothing works. Right now I have a mobile phone which is of no use as it cannot receive a mobile signal.
I have got Curve 9300 with OS v5.0.0.977. I am unable to receive anything using Bluetooth from the paired device but sending anything to other device is OK.

Sometimes I play around with the phone and the battery is not low battery and works until I take the battery out of the phone. Then it just goes to low battery again. When it was on OS5 it had about 90mb of free memory, now even after a reboot I' m lucky to have between 30 to 34mb. Now Web pages close unexpectedly and cannot use the tabbed browsing at all. I only a couple of small apps left on the device as I have deleted most of them already. I upgraded the OS using the desktop software, and all seemed to have worked OK. Have I missed something?, was there install files I should have cleared?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI turned off the 3G network and wish to connect to the Internet via the WiFi connection. My WiFi is enabled and has a valid IP address. I can ping the WiFi gateway, I can also ping an external host (google.com which resolves to 74.125.224.134). DNS lookup also works just fine and I can ping various hostnames directly. So, the ICMP packets are traversing the network. In WiFi Diagnostics (Advanced), I see a valid local IP address (192.168.5.190) and gateway (192.168.5.1, which is also the local DNS server / DNS relay agent).So, I want to pull data (web pages, etc.) from the Internet using the WiFi only (with the 3G cell / mobile network disabled). But when I turn off the mobile radio, I get this error: "Cannot visit web page when radio is turned off. Please turn on the radio and try again."
