BB Curve 8900 :: Screen Lags And Track Pad Moves With Delay When Receive Text Message From One Contact
Aug 9, 2010
I have a little problem, if we can consider this a problem. When i receave a SMS from a friend X, my Blackberry lag (the screen doesn't change, for like 0.5 sec). But when I receave a SMS from let's say Y, it can take up to 5 to 10 seconds before the screen move or I can move with the track pad to see the message. It's annoying.
So here is what I think, Is this because.. :
- I have over 35 000 SMS in the DB ?
- I have like 100 SMS from X and 5000 from Y ?
- My phone is on the vibrator but for Y he has a music ?
- Is this OS 5 ? But he is faster then OS 4 and I updated a while ago ?

I have 8330 and lately I haven't been getting my texts for hours 2 at most but idk why its doing that. I can be in mid conversation ad then not hear back from them for like 30 to an hour and they think I'm ignoring them. The time stamp shows when they sent and when I received what do I do to stop this.
I've never had any problems with my BlackBerry Torch 9800 until today. I cannot receive text messages off one of my contacts but they are receiving my sent ones! I have restarted my phone by taking out the barrery and the SIM card 3 times with no change. As has my contact (he has a BlackBerry Curve). I have checked my Firewall settings (they are switched off) and neither of us are in each others blocked list.
I'm having trackball problem with my 8900, Its trackball moves freely but the cursor doesn't moves at all. I have tried all known issues like 'hard restart &wipeout handheld" but it doesn't help at all.
I have not been able to getting any txt messages all day. Rebooted I dont know how many times and each time this error comes up Uncaught Exception: java.lang.nullpointerexception Yes called tmobile. didnt get anywhere they just want to wipe my phone.
I have a wierd SMS problem with a couple of BB Curve 8900s. For some reason on this model SMS's are showing as coming from 1 contact (when there are a lot more) and when you hit reply it replies to that 1 contact and not to the person who actually sent it. I can't see any problems in the settings that could be causing this. Obviously the last thing I want to do is rebuild the devices so can anyone think of what might be causing this?
Im on an HTC ONE with Sprint and I am getting pretty annoyed with incoming text messages freezing up my phone and taking me out of the app I'm currently in.If I am typing an email in the Yahoo Mail app and I receive an incoming text message, the phone shutters/freezes and takes me out of the Yahoo Mail app and to a home app screen. And of course the email doesn't same to a draft for some reason. Incoming text messages pauses pretty much anything Im doing the phone: Skyping, Google Hangout, Big Fish Casino, sending a different text message, etc.
When I receive a text message that is 2 messages in length of longer, they each come in separately and about five minutes apart. So if I get a text that is 4 messages long, it will take 20 minutes to get the whole message.
My text message history is empty. I got my friend to text me, and I received it. It didn't appear in the history, but I went to Search and typed in his name. And it came up, unopened. But when I go back to the original SMS history, it's not there. Nothing is there.
Is there a fix for this problem? If I read my messages first on my Blackberry and then later open Outlook - the message is coverted to plain text in Outlook. This is annoying when I usually reply to the messages from Outlook and want them to be in HTML format.
Multiple times throught the day my BB wil have a little time clock icon that shows up and while it's there the phone is delayed and I can't do anything with it until it goes away. I found a thread that suggested that I make sure I check all my running apps, which I did and shut down all but the defaults and the icon would still pop up. Is anyone else having this problem or know of a solution to this?
My screen has a delay in response and is intermittently able to send and receive calls and texts. T-mobile has done everything they can and it didn't solve the problem. What can we do?
1) I can't seem to figure out how to set text message tones for each individual contact for my 8520? Is this possible? (I have the T-mobile 8520 Curve if that makes a difference?)
2) How do I update my operating system for my 8520, from the T-mobile network?
I added a custom ringtone to a contact but the ringtone only works when the contact calls me. But when he texts me the ringtone is the same as the other contacts and I don't know how to make the msgs stick with the custom ringtone of the contact.
I originally posted this on >> HTC Android Devices > Droid Incredile, so far no replies, so perhaps not the correct forum, and I have only just noticed this forumI have had my HTC Incredible S for just over 2 weeks, and getting used to most of the functions and features (previously have used Nokia for years) and enjoying it There is one thing that I cannot find a solution or setting for, and that is when I send/receive SMS's although the user is in my contacts, the name does not come up, only the mobile number. Is there something that I have overlooked in the settings, although I wonder why the name is not the default unless of course the sender is not in my contacts.
Is it possible to turn off both the new message indicator (red asterix) and the new message count?I would like no message indicators to appear on my blackberry home screen.
I send a text message to Person A I receive a text message from Person A but its under the convo box of Person B Under 'SMS conversations; the text message will be in the wrong thread but when I go to 'SMS inbox' it tells me who really sent the text message. Thing is, that can get a bit tiring to do every time I get a text message.
This afternoon, i looked at my blackberry and i saw my LED flashing, and on the screen the little message symbol is at the top. This obvioulsy means i have a message. The strange thing is, i dont have a message, or at least i cant get to it.Any help? LED keeps flashing, and the little envelope icon is there, but i dont have any SMS messges or Email.
When I received this BB 8900, it was on 4.6.1.231 OS and I couldn't send SMS messages, but could receive them. I could send MMS and everything else was fully functional.I figured it was an OS problem and upgraded to 5.0.0.592, but still no luck.I guess I'm a complete novice at this since the last BB I owned was the Pearl and that was two years ago, so is there a way I can clean the whole device and put everything back to factory settings and start from the ground up?would this tactic solve my issue, anyway?
I have just been given a 8900 as a replacement company phone, and in my stupidity I thought that now I have a 'smart' phone I can simply transfer my existing contact lists to my technological masterpiece .well after spending 3 hours and reading till I am almost asleep I am none the wiser. then again it could be RIM.
I have a blackberry curve 8900 which I love but which I think may have broken my spirit this time. When I go into my contacts to search for a contact it just goes on to 'Add contact' - when I type the contact name into the 'find contact' option it then decides to add a new one instead. It will let me search my SIM card contacts but, not being the cleverest of people, my contacts aren't all on my SIM.If I go through the Search icon on my desktop and search through contacts it will let me find them through there but I don't understand why my contacts bit has changed, and how to reverse this?
The contacts are there when I go to SMS someone but if I am trying to send a message through MMS (ie a picture) then the same contact search problem occurs.I am not the most technologically-minded of people but I really love this phone and I don't know what I have done wrong!!
I have duplicated contacts in my BB Curve 8900. The count given by BB is 1120 (my address book) but it seems it is more 3300 (3 times each). About 15 of them are not duplicated. It is synchronized with Lotus Notes with BES at the office (I think). All was perfect for many weeks. I install Desktop Manager at home and I twice export an ASCII file of my contacts to have them in Excel. Then my contacts were 2 times duplicated.
I try both solutions suggested on forums :
- RSET in Options on device : it wipes contacts and repopulate them later. But they were always present in the BB, even if in the options I can read Numbers :
- In Desktop Manager, Advanced option under Backup and Restore, I clear contacts (Address book, and Address book all) : databases show as empty with no records, but records are still there twice before repopulating. After that, each contact is present 3 times.
I have been looking for a solution on many forums without solving my problem even with many topics talking about it. I would like to remove all contacts from the address book and resync after.Anyone have any ideas about how to wipe Contacts that refuse to be wiped?
My device BB curve 8900, since I upgraded to OS 5, when I press add new contact no response. I cannot either edit any existing contact. I removed the battery and put it back again, same problem.
