BB Curve 8500 :: 8520 Will Not Turn On
Apr 8, 2010Today I downloaded a app and then I decided I didnt want it so unistalled it in which it then said I needed reboot/reset so I clicked yes and then it will not come back on now. At times the light flashes red but nothing happens. I have tryed charging it, taking battery in and out. Any advice would be grateful it is only about a month old.

Jul 21, 2010I just asked a friend to call me online, and he kept getting my voice mail without the phone ringing at all. I tried calling out, and when I did, the phone told me that the "radio mode" was "off," and that it was turning it off. How did I manage to turn off the ability of my phone to send and receive calls? I don't think I did anything like that.

Aug 21, 2010I recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

Jul 18, 2010I downloaded a new fancy characters app sent to me by a friend. Even since my phone has been acting up. The one problem I have not been able to fix, it's that I can't access bbm 5.0. I have the icon on my home screen however, when I select it nothing happens. I have deleted it and re-installed it several times already and that didn't work. I have had to re-install the old version of the bbm and that version works fine. I have a curve 8520 from T-mobile and OS 4.6.

When the Application Loader launches, it only provides me with the option of maintaining my OS and downgrading my OS to the older 4.6.1 version. I have previously used the exact same steps on another Curve 8520 and I had successfully upgraded the OS. After the upgrade was successful on the first phone, only did I try upgrading the second phone. Is there anything I did wrongly the second time around?

May 11, 2010I have the Curve 8520.I am a unique case of this, because with T-Mobile there is a way you can have a Blackberry without the data plan, so when I am trying to connect to the internet, it is ONLY through wi-fi.
On the home screen, the Wi-Fi Logo is lit up white, and it says the name of my network. However, when I try to access any webpage, the message comes up:"Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact your service provider."It HAS worked before.

Apr 27, 2010I have a local wifi service that works great with my laptop, but when I try to connect to it using the BB, it does not allow me to connect. I am not even getting to the user name/password prompt. It goes through the redirecting page then comes back after several seconds with a "bad query". I have tried the hotspot browser, firefox and Internet explorer with the same results. I have deleted the entry for the wireless connection, cleared all of my cache including cookies. I have neighbors that connect to the same wifi with their iPhones and it is no problem for them. Why would a BB be different. Curve 8530 v5.0.0.508.

Aug 19, 2010My phone phone turn off by itself about 3 hrs ago. It will not turn back on, the icd light is flashing red. Seems like to me it's flashing 2 longer flashes then 2 small one straight away. Continuously repeats this with 20/30 seconds between each. I have tried plugging it into my laptop but is not connected.

Jan 20, 2010for the past week i was unable to access my email services. I have done a handheld wipe as well on my phone also after that which result that my email icon etc is not showing anymore. When i run a diagnostic test everythingis fine except for the PIN-PIN.

I phoned my service provider and according to them everything is in order on there system. They have tried to resend my email service books but i don't recieve it. Data service etc is working fine and my phone register on the blackberry network. Please assist as i am unable to setup my emails etc or connect to messenger etc....

Jun 7, 2010I've being trying to update my device software but it's impossible, not even downloading the archive from the web.
Everytime I plug in my phone and open the blackberry manager to do whaterver it gives me the message that I haven't installed the Blackberry Device Manager . I updated my desktop manager to version 5.0, and I tried to update my device software and it says that I don't have any updates, after that I have deleted the files device.xml and vendor.xml but again when I plugged in my phone it comes the message that the Blackberry Device Manager is not installed. I've uninstalled the desktop manager and it let me use once but again no update for my phone software and then again the same message that i haven't installed the Blackberry Device Manager
My carrier company here in Ecuador wont help me cause I bought the phone in the USA, but anyways I have friends that have the same problem as and they have bought in Ecuador to Movistar (my carrier) the same phone and the update to 5.0 doesn't work.

Aug 31, 2010I have a new Blackberry Curve 8530. When I set it up, I was able to synchronize my Outlook calendar to the BB but not my contacts. I was unable to synchronize my contacts because it said my BB was set up for wireless synchronization. I tried to follow the instructions for truning off wireless synching, but when I go to options in my contacts there is no wireless synchronization field for me to change. What am I missing?
Also, I updated my operating system and now I am unable to sync my calendar. When I try to select the organizer data to synronize, it won't let me select calendar because it says that calendar is not installed (and it won't let me select address book because it says it is syncing wirelessly). I have reinstalled my BB Desktop software and I read on another post that gmail might be a problem so I no longer have my gmail account on my BB. When I open my BB Desktop manager on my computer, I get a message saying "unknown error reported," which is why I reinstalled my Destop software, but I still get this message after the reinstall.

Jul 1, 2010When my calendar reminder pops up it gives me the option to end the reminder or snooze for a preiod of 5 mins. This is far too short so I went to Calendar, Options, General Options and under Actions set the Default Reminder to 15 min and saved the change.When a reminder pops up the snooze time is still 5 minutes despite the change I made. Very annoying!What can be done to set the reminder time to anything other than 5 mins ? Have I changed the wrong field, or is this a bug?

Sep 3, 2010Really loving this phone (8520) and a massive leap from my last phone.
Having trouble with connecting to my or my works wifi. It registers both routers and displays the name across at the top of the phone and in wifi settings I have a black square with a white dash line and a green wifi symbol.
I have a Asda pay as you go sim which is fine for the calls text etc but I hearing not so good for the Internet.
I have managed to get the browser going with the Hotspot setting but I'm guessing this isn't using my home wifi as it as slow as a snail and keeps cutting out.
Without Hotspot enabled it tries to use VodaphoneLive and I get the message "unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider"

Jun 6, 2010A couple of weeks ago my employer gave me a password to activate my Outlook account for my Curve 8530. I was able to send and receive emails for about 3 days, then I suddenly stopped receving emails.I can send email from my outlook address, my Sent Items appear and my Outlook calendar items appear on the blackberry calendar.I'm just not receiving emails through the Inbox.I've contacted my carrier and my IT department at work, but no one can figure out why I'm not getting emails on the Curve.The usual fixes aren't working.

Other smartphones including other Blackberry models and all Android and iPhone models access the site fine.The error our client received is:"The server returned the following error: Access Denied: Insecure SSL Request" then if you click Ok it says "Unable to connect using the current security settings. Please contact your service provider". If you click More Info, it brings up this message: "Your MDS has been configured to deny SSL requests to servers that have certificates which are untrusted or expired. Try using Device Side SSL which can be modified in your TLS Options. Contact your system administrator with questions."Our clients don't have access to their MDS which is through their service provider.The SSL certificate has an alt name (Certificate Subject Alt Name) and the SSL is registered under GoDaddy and the subject name has a subdomain (tickets).

Aug 12, 2010I am using BB 8520 Curve with the default external memory (2 Gb). I have music files (*.mp3, *.wma) as well as picture files (captured through the device itself).What happens is, from time to time I am unable to access the media card content. If I go to music, I can see the entries if I go to any of the menu filters, All Songs/Artists/Albums/Genres .. etc. But when I click on the song itself, the music player opens with a message "This playlist contains no valid songs". Also, during this time, my device rings with the default tunes on a call, even if I have set custom profile ring tones.Similarly, if I go to Media->Pictures, I can see a thumbnail preview of the photos, however on trying to open a file it just presents me with a black screen. The contact picture or the desktop custom wallpaper, however is rendered as expected.If I reboot my device by taking off the battery, things get working again.I am experiencing this issue quite frequently, almost every day. I tried to find out a trend for the behaviour, however could not make any such consistent observations.Does anyone in the forum has faced similar issue? Any inputs would be highly appreciated. This is really being a disturbing trait with my otherwise so cool BB.

The original mobile successfully connected to wi-fi in my house and the internet elsewhere through vodafone but since I've received this replacement I'm unable to turn the wi-fi on on the mobile.I've tried deleting everything on the handset service book (except the 2 instructed not to delete) and then left mobile switched on, took battery out, waited few minutes, battery back in, mobile loaded the data again, tried setting up wi-fi again but still won't turn wi-fi on.
