Jul 6, 2010my Curve 8520 has just received an update.however, since doing so, I am unable to set the alarm on my clock and blackberry app world keeps crashing on me.

BB Curve 8520/8530 :: When Set Alarm Using Clock / It Doesn't Go Off
May 19, 2010I'm not sure if this is a known issue or not, when i set an alarm using the clock it does not go off, it vibrates once shortly then does nothing, but when i do it with the calendar it works just fine. any ideas?

Aug 21, 2010I recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

Jun 5, 2010I tried updating from the blackberry website. When the Application Loader launches, it only provides me with the option of maintaining my OS and downgrading my OS to the older 4.6.1 version. I have previously used the exact same steps on another Curve 8520 and I had successfully upgraded the OS. After the upgrade was successful on the first phone, only did I try upgrading the second phone. Is there anything I did wrongly the second time around?

Jun 20, 2010Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong here? Sometimes (about 1 day a week), I'll set my alarm, but it will not go off. When I look at the phone, it'll have the pop-up indicator thing saying "DISMISS" or "off" (can't remember exactly what it says), that indicates that the alarm was triggered, but it doesn't actually make the alarm sound.Any ideas why this may be happening? I am 100% sure the alarm is set to the right time, and the AM/PM is correct, and the phone is not on "Silent", but the alarm won't actually ring? It doesn't do it all the time, but maybe only once every 7-10 times I set the alarm, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out why.This is a big problem for me because I don't have a regular alarm clock, and I use it to wake me up for work. Twice this month I have been late for work because my alarm didn't go off.Can anyone out there possibly help me diagnose this problem? I think my boss thinks that I'm lying to him when I tell him my alarm doesn't go off, and it's really becoming a problem.

I can do all of the other functions in the clock besides set the alarm. Is there a fix for this or anyone else having this issue?

Feb 23, 2010Just got new 8520 to replace 8320. Windows will only recognise it as a Rim Composite Device and cannot find software.
I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'

Jun 18, 2010I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.

Jan 1, 2012My wife wanted to sell her BB curve 8520 for a BB upgrade Phone and so to delete all data I did a memory wipe. the phone never started after the wipe and got stuck on the white screen with a small clock in the middle...it stays on for a few min ...goes blank and starts again with the white screen....this keep on repeating on and on!!..I tried to use a method given in other treads by re intalling the software but I cant even connect the BB to my PC via USB (DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED)...I even tried different computers and different USB port and different WIndows (Win 7 and XP) still no luck!

Jul 13, 2012I am using a BB Curve 8520, black.I had initially set the alarm for all weekdays. But now I don't want the alarm anymore.The only option I have in this BB in the clock tab is Weekdays ON / OFF [blue in color in the centre of the clock].I do not have any third option of OFF, irrespective of weekdays/weekends.But it still rings sometimes though being OFF for the weekdays & the alarm time in red still shows & the tiny alarm/clock icon even shows on the desktop.
I've done options of keeping the alarm silent & all that. But it does vibrate sometimes. Sometimes the icon disappears & it comes back automatically.How do I DISABLE this alarm?? Just off it types, like we do in other phones!

Jun 9, 2010I have a Curve 8520 from TMobile (US).I also had a Pearl 8100 from Fido (Canada).I got the Curve unlocked and want to use it on the Fido network instead of the Pearl. I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

Sep 18, 2010Got a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

Aug 26, 2010I have got a used BB8520 as a gift and am currently using. I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

Issue: I recd an sms from my friend which had an exclamation mark. When i tried to reply it gave me the following message "Requested facility not implemented" & i could not reply. (i have attached the screenshot..i have darkened the area as it was a personal message) Also i asked my friend did he set any priority, he said no as he had a basic nokia handset. So how is it possible to receive an sms with red exclamation (i understand that red exclamation means high priority)

Jan 27, 2010Had my BB on Orange 1 week PAYG. It took a week to bring my phone number from previous carrier,
Meanwhile I was given a temp one. The number appears when I press send but although my number has now been transferred, the temp number still appears when I press send. Don't remember whether I input the number when setting up or whether it appeared automatically when the phone read the sim card. Please is there a way of me entering the new number or do I need to wait for Orange to do something, or tell Orange?I'm sure there is a very simple answer.
