BB Curve 83xx :: Mute Function On Convenience Key?
Jul 2, 2010
My mute key has gone insane. Not only does it not always work when I push it, it often goes into spasms of randomly triggering without being pushed. This is a major problem, since in most applications it triggers a standby mode which can only be exited by... pushing the mute key.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Ideally, I'd like to make one of the convenience buttons a second Mute so I could use that to exit standby. That's not one of the native assignments; is there a program that could allow it? I'd also settle for killing the mute function entirely.
On my old Blackberry Curve 8320 I had it set to SMS text and I could just send one out, but I forgot now I have it on Compose but all it wants to do is make calls instead of making a text message. Any suggestions?
I used to use the left convenience key to lock the device, but after upgrading to 5.0, that function has disappeared. The only way I can lock my device now is by pressing the top lock button, which only locks the keyboard. Am I missing something?
Welp got the torch and love it, was using a captivate and an aria for about 3 weeks, neat toys but sucked as phones so back to bb I went.My convience key will let me program it for any other function other than the camera, it will work the first time after resetting it to the camera option, but won't work the shutter. After closing it out and pressing the button again from the home screen or any other I get nothing?
It may sound trivial to some but one of my favorite BB functions was lost during the recent update and I can't seem to find how to restore it. I used to have the keyboard lock function assigned to the left side convenience key. This was really essential for me to have and now it is not available for me to assign when I try to assign something for the left side convenience key. I know the Tour has the option on the top of the phone to lock it but even when this is pushed, it will still unlock in my bag. How can I restore this option?
I thought I read somewhere that I could, but I can't figure it out.I downloaded the gmail app and a second one related to that one, but I can't seem to find any gchat function.
I have a Curve 8330 and am wondering if there is a way to get the Keypad Lock and Standby Mode to function together from one of the convenience keys. I currently have Standby Mode on the Mute Key on top and Keypad Lock on the left convenience key.
I'm kinda new to Blackberry, been toying around with my BB8310 and was trying to organize the applications into folders and such. I've searched and read thru some tutorials and stuff on how to do it. However, whenever I press the menu or alt + trackball when I highlight the application, there's only the "move" option. There's no "move to folder" option. What am I missing here? I am on a BB8310 with OS 4.5. Can someone please enlighten me. Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search on this in the forum itself and didn't find anything.
When I lock my BB Curve 9300, I can't unlock it. All 3 convenience keys (right, left and mute) won't work. I have to take the battery out to get it to unlock
My BB (9300/Curve3G) is running versions:Applications: 6.0.0.570Software Platform: 6.6.0.212(most up-to-date for my region), and i cannot change the default of the left convenience key.I have tried the update method, and te pull-the-battery-out method, to no avail.
I'm a newbie at Crackberry, but reading and learning since i got my BB, but got my account today because i really need help. Since a few days i have some strange problems with my BB Curve 8900;
- E Key is broken - Alt Key is only functioning when using it in single use (so not possible anymore to hold the ALT key and type the symbols at the same time). - Right Convenience key is not starting the camera anymore. I don't think its broken, because when my BB is asleep, and when i start pushing the right convenience key the screen does light up.
I tried a battery pull, but it doesn't solved my problems. I don't have any warranty anymore. So anyone with solutions, does a upgrade of the OS maybe works?
Just updated my BB desk top manager with the update version 5.0..1. Now I am not able to use the left side convenience key button to lock the keyboard. Just curious to see if anyone else has had the problem and if so, how did you fix it.
When I change the position of the Mute/Silent switch, I get the icon to change (either the bell or the bell with the line through it), but the phone continues to right and never goes on silent. If the icon changes, it seems the switch must work physically, right? As far as I know, I haven't changed any settings.
I am getting constant calls from a telemarketer, the phone number is 509.221.3648, the first time they called I told the telemarketer I wasn't interested in the sex pills they were selling, now they call me non stop(I went on google, sounds like this agency does the same thing to tons of people).I wish I could reject the caller, but I've been told the best option is to create a contact and make an exception so that whenever they call me the my phone doesn't ring.
I bought a Blackberry 9300 Curve (3G) at the end of August, with OS 6 on Tesco Mobile. Over time it has developed the problem that it will not always unlock when I press mute, so I have to do a battery pull or wait at least ten minutes before it actually lets me unlock and use the device. Literally what happens is I press the mute button and the device remains completely locked, really irritating when I have the LED flashing at me too! It mainly happens when I'm messaging someone a lot, so locking and unlocking really frequently.
The only way to turn on the keypad is in the TEST of Hardware, if you go to the Next Step it turns off again. What I did was Turning on the Backlight Keypad in Test and then pressed CHANGE APLICATION (Something Like that I have it in Spanish) and then the Lights Keep up all the time. But if I go to the Music Player and I use "MUTE KEY" the Backlight Keypad turns off. (ONLY WHEN I PRESS MUTE ON THE MUSIC PLAYER)
I have a BB Curve 8520. I just was searching the options page and then I believe I clicked the speed dial option. The lock keyboard option was 'a', and I clicked it and it locked the keyboard. I hadn't realized there was a lock for my keyboard (and had been searching for one). However, I can't get it unlocked. When I press the menu key, it pops up that 'keyboard is locked. Press the Mute button to unlock."
However, I don't know where the Mute button is, nor can I get it to unlock. My theme is precision zen (I believe) if that makes a difference.
how I can unlock my keyboard? how to successfully lock it in future? I guess I don't understand the speed dial aspect of the phone.
I have the unlock key in the top of my blackberry 9300 broken (Play/Pause/Mute/UNLOCK key) How can I change the unlock function to another -not broken- key?
i just bought the phone off of a mate knowing the problems but my g1 tottally died.so the only way i can make a call is threw a headset and also the ringtone speaker doesnt work so have to have my phone out all the time to see if i have a call/text :| when i open the camera i get "could not start the camera, close other applicaions and try oppening the camera again".
the lock and mute keys on top do not work atall and recently the volume key has stopped working. ive tried googling the problems but havent found much information on my problems. could it be the actual speaker. or the plastic midplate with the metal contacts on?im not too bothered about the camera and keys just the speakers soo i dont have to walk around with my phone in my hand with my headset in.
I recently got a BB Torch 9860 phone. However the convenience key is not working. No matter to what option I set it to, it doesn't work. The default Camera also doesn't work. I have enabled the keytones on my phone. I hear the keytone whenever I press the convenience key. But nothing happens. My phone's running BB OS 7.0 bundle 2395.
so i set my right convenience key as a shortcut to the camera which used to work before but it stopped working. i brought it to t-mobile and they said i should upgrade my software to the latest one which i did but now it still won't work. the left convenience key is fine and works as a password lock shortchut. what should i do? should i get a manufacturer's warranty or is there anyone else having this problem?
I set my convenience key to the clock setting, and it's been working fine until today. Now the clock keeps randomly popping up even when I don't click the side key. I plugged in my phone to my laptop earlier today--could that have affected it somehow? I've tried a hard reset, and I've messed around with the convenience key settings. Nothing has worked--I'm just locking my phone and setting it off to the side for now.
So my wife and I just picked up two new 9700s in white and black from T-Mobile with their buy-1-get-1 offer We're both already blackberry users. I was upgrading from a Pearl 8120, and she had a Curve 8320.After letting them charge for a while I finally fired them up to start playing with them.My first goal is to set them up as similar to our old phones as possible.
I checked the OS'es that shipped with each one and my black 9700 had 5.0.0.330 and hers had 5.0.0.586. So, I went to upgrade mine. But, while playing with some of the settings before upgrading I noticed that I was able to set my left convenience key to lock the keyboard on my 9700 but not on hers.In fact, the white 9700 that shipped with 5.0.0.586 didn't even have the lock keyboard icon in any of the menu screens at all.
I upgraded my OS to 5.0.0.586 and then went to check the left convenience key nothing.Went into settings and where it was previously set to Lock Keyboard, was now set to "Nothing".Is there no Lock Keyboard feature in OS 5.0.0.586? or am I seriously missing something?
