View 1 RepliesI have a BB Curve 8520. I just was searching the options page and then I believe I clicked the speed dial option. The lock keyboard option was 'a', and I clicked it and it locked the keyboard. I hadn't realized there was a lock for my keyboard (and had been searching for one). However, I can't get it unlocked. When I press the menu key, it pops up that 'keyboard is locked. Press the Mute button to unlock."
However, I don't know where the Mute button is, nor can I get it to unlock. My theme is precision zen (I believe) if that makes a difference.
how I can unlock my keyboard? how to successfully lock it in future? I guess I don't understand the speed dial aspect of the phone.
When I first had my phone the mute button worked perfectly fine. After about 2-3 months it is not working anymore...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Bold 9000 on the AT&T network running v5.0.0.464. I'm having a problem with the Mute button (on top). I use the button to put the device into sleep/hibernation/whatever. I have had this problem with three devices (all 9000's) and have had each replaced because I was told that it was a hardware error by the AT&T rep. However, I have done some testing on additional devices (corp. environment) and have been able to reproduce the issue, or more accurately stated, I have been able to observe the issue occurring on each device in my test group over time.Basically, when the device is new, the button works very snappy. Over time, looks like 2-3 months, the button begins to show intermittent issues and takes longer and longer being held down to activate the function (starting or sleeping). Eventually, this function has quit working on every device I've tested (out of the box devices with no apps beyond the delivered ones installed). Removing the battery repeatedly and on a regular schedule of once a week has not had an impact on the issue during testing or in Prod. Being new to supporting these devices I looked around and did some searching but haven't found a solution that has worked for our situation.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Curve 8520 's e button just stopped working, doesnt work no matter how hard you press. Sometimes will get assign speed dial to e or if i'm texting a capital E but it is completely random. Also at the same time when the screen times out it is unresponsive, the screen wont come up until you press any button many many times, found out that holding any button down will also make the screen reappear after a few seconds, also if you turn it off, the power button wont turn it back on, you have to take the battery out to get it on again, otherwise it works fine.

Where is the mute button to unlock my keyboard?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe only way to turn on the keypad is in the TEST of Hardware, if you go to the Next Step it turns off again. What I did was Turning on the Backlight Keypad in Test and then pressed CHANGE APLICATION (Something Like that I have it in Spanish) and then the Lights Keep up all the time. But if I go to the Music Player and I use "MUTE KEY" the Backlight Keypad turns off. (ONLY WHEN I PRESS MUTE ON THE MUSIC PLAYER)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 (V4.6.1.272), and all of a sudden my "e" button does not work anymore. This has happened before (however, the last time was a couple of months ago) and back then it just fixed itself after a few minutes. But its been 3 days now and nothing I try works. Not the number 2, letter "e", capital "E" or anything like that works.Firstly, I didnt drop the phone or spill any fluids on it (as far as I know). Secondly, I've done a few things as suggested on other support sites including rebooting the phone (took battery out while the phone was on) about 10 times now. But that didnt work. I also tapped the keypad around the "e" key and blew in it just incase there was a bit of dust stuck under the key, but still nothing.
Earlier I did a backup and was ready to do a complete Wipe. However, to confirm the wipe I had to type the word "blackberry"! So, needless to say, I couldn't continue because there's a **bleep** "e" in the word blackberry!I also cant take it back to my service provider (MTN - South Africa) because they'll send it right back without touching it or replacing it due to a little physical damage. (I've had the phone for around 20 months now and the convenience keys on the sides fell out because I probably used it too much or perhaps its just not durable enough.) Nevertheless, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I really cant go on like this for another 4 months until Im eligible for an upgrade!
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 and all of a sudden my "e" button does not work anymore. This has happened before (however, the last time was a couple of months ago) and back then it just fixed itself after a few minutes. But its been 5 days now and nothing I try works. Not the number 2, letter "e", capital "E" or anything like that works.Firstly, I didnt drop the phone or spill any fluids on it (as far as I know). Secondly, I've done a few things as suggested on other support sites including rebooting the phone (took battery out while the phone was on) about 15 times now. But that didnt work. I also tapped the keypad around the "e" key and blew in it just in case there was a bit of dust stuck under the key, but still nothing.
I did a backup and was ready to do a complete Wipe. However, to confirm the wipe I had to type the word "blackberry"! So, needless to say, I couldn't continue because there's an "e" in the word blackberry and as I was using OS version 4.6.1.272, I couldnt copy and paste the letter "e" either. So I upgraded to V5.0.0.592 with the hope that this will fix the button. But no such luck. I then tried a wipe again and this time I could paste the "e" when i was prompted to type the word "blackberry". So I eventually did the wipe, but still no change.I've also noticed that previously I was able to type the punctuation symbols by holding in the "alt" button and simultaneously pressing the punctuation keys. Now when I do that nothing happens. I have to press and release the "alt" key and then press the punctuation keys on its own.
i just bought the phone off of a mate knowing the problems but my g1 tottally died.so the only way i can make a call is threw a headset and also the ringtone speaker doesnt work so have to have my phone out all the time to see if i have a call/text :| when i open the camera i get "could not start the camera, close other applicaions and try oppening the camera again".
the lock and mute keys on top do not work atall and recently the volume key has stopped working. ive tried googling the problems but havent found much information on my problems. could it be the actual speaker. or the plastic midplate with the metal contacts on?im not too bothered about the camera and keys just the speakers soo i dont have to walk around with my phone in my hand with my headset in.
I'm new to Android phones so ... When having text notification sounds, on other phones I know there's a quick button to silence it let's say if it goes off and you're talking to someone. I know from reading so far the only "quick" way to do that is hold down the volume button. Is there literally no other button on the phone that you can just click to silence your notification, while having notifications have a volume. I have a hard time hearing so I tend to leave the notifications/ringtone volume on. With a lockscreen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a blackberry curve 8530 on thursday, and have used it for one full day now. The mute button is EXTREMELY sensitive, but only from non-direct touch angles - so basically it goes into mute mode when I do not expect it. This is becoming a massive annoyance.
Is this a normal problem with these phones, or should I try to get a replacement? Will they make me go to RIM to have them send me a refurbished phone for my 1 day old brand new phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone lost all sound on Wednesday 16 May 2012 and then again this morning Friday 18 May 2012. The Mute Button was Off. I did a little research online and from what I could find out it seems to be an update issue. 5.1.1
Before doing the following I highly recommend you do an iCloud back up first. It takes 5 minutes max and then do this:
>settings>general>reset>reset all settings
This process takes about 10-15 minutes at the most.
I'm really quite irritated now because I've had to do this twice thus far and I'm expecting to have to do it again until this "bug" is worked out. Also my charging seems to have a glitch now as well. It may be an charger issue in and of itself but I really don't think so. Again I think it's the most recent update.

View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday, my mute button decided to no longer work when trying to unlock my keypad ( I have os 5.0). I consequently have to take out my battery and restart the phone to get the keypad unlocked. Not sure if the actual button is faulty or not but is there any way to switch the unlocking feature to a different button?
