BB Bold 9000 :: Mute Button Not Working Well
Jun 22, 2010on my Bold 9000 the mute/standby now lock key is kind of crapping out. It will work, but I have to push the button really hard or try pushing it several times. Any ideas?

BB Bold :: Mute Button Slowly Stops Working On 9000
Mar 9, 2010I have a Bold 9000 on the AT&T network running v5.0.0.464. I'm having a problem with the Mute button (on top). I use the button to put the device into sleep/hibernation/whatever. I have had this problem with three devices (all 9000's) and have had each replaced because I was told that it was a hardware error by the AT&T rep. However, I have done some testing on additional devices (corp. environment) and have been able to reproduce the issue, or more accurately stated, I have been able to observe the issue occurring on each device in my test group over time.Basically, when the device is new, the button works very snappy. Over time, looks like 2-3 months, the button begins to show intermittent issues and takes longer and longer being held down to activate the function (starting or sleeping). Eventually, this function has quit working on every device I've tested (out of the box devices with no apps beyond the delivered ones installed). Removing the battery repeatedly and on a regular schedule of once a week has not had an impact on the issue during testing or in Prod. Being new to supporting these devices I looked around and did some searching but haven't found a solution that has worked for our situation.

BB Bold 9000 :: Mute Button / Keyboard Lock
May 25, 2010Yesterday, my mute button decided to no longer work when trying to unlock my keypad ( I have os 5.0). I consequently have to take out my battery and restart the phone to get the keypad unlocked. Not sure if the actual button is faulty or not but is there any way to switch the unlocking feature to a different button?

Mar 29, 2010The title says it all - I have a Bold with the oh-so-common broken mute key and I know that the latest 5.0 builds modified the lock/standby behavior. What is the latest build I can use?I can theoretically just use the warranty to get another refurb, but this is 9000 #2 to lose the standby button after 3 months, so I'd rather just hop on Craigslist and buy a 9700, then sell this 9000...
Also, has ANYONE been able to successfully use Blackberry AIM Recently? I seem to always have to choose "Refresh List" to get my messages - I've resent service books and even wiped my phone and reinstalled AT&T .303. I've tried the old 2.1 version that's available on here somewhere (which used to work well) as well as the latest 2.5.32 (which I don't really like anyway because of the 2-line contact list).

Jul 23, 2010I purchased a blackberry curve 8530 on thursday, and have used it for one full day now. The mute button is EXTREMELY sensitive, but only from non-direct touch angles - so basically it goes into mute mode when I do not expect it. This is becoming a massive annoyance.

May 18, 2012My iPhone lost all sound on Wednesday 16 May 2012 and then again this morning Friday 18 May 2012. The Mute Button was Off. I did a little research online and from what I could find out it seems to be an update issue. 5.1.1
Before doing the following I highly recommend you do an iCloud back up first. It takes 5 minutes max and then do this:
>settings>general>reset>reset all settings
This process takes about 10-15 minutes at the most.
I'm really quite irritated now because I've had to do this twice thus far and I'm expecting to have to do it again until this "bug" is worked out. Also my charging seems to have a glitch now as well. It may be an charger issue in and of itself but I really don't think so. Again I think it's the most recent update.

The lock keyboard option was 'a', and I clicked it and it locked the keyboard. I hadn't realized there was a lock for my keyboard (and had been searching for one). However, I can't get it unlocked. Apr 28, 2014Attached image shows that when I make a call or receive it, my screen does not show dialer buttons, mute button, or the additional caller/conference button. I have looked at all different settings that I could think of but can't seem to fix this. I have tried this using headset as well as speaker phone.
I was able to bring up dialer button (only) if I go to home screen during the call and open up phone again. This time I can use the dialer buttons but still no mute or conf buttons.
