BB Curve 8300 :: PC Does Not See Device For Mass Storage
Jan 24, 2010
I've become fed up with Roxio Media Manager as it crashes my computers. I read the instructions to access my media card via mass storage.
-mass storage is turned on
-Connectivity is fine via desktop manager so the cable is fine.
-auto enable mass storage mode is on.
-I use XP pro latest service pack and latest desktop manager
blackberry is fully updated.
Should I not be able to see the media card as any other storage device in "My Computer"? Like a flash memory stick? I've tried various USB ports and 2 different PC's with same result. Is there an alternative to Roxio? This might solve the problem but computers just are not seeing this thing.
I am having problems with mass storage mode. When I connect my device and try to see the media using the music, pictures, or video buttons on the desktop manager it says I need to turn on mass storage mode however when I check the device settings under options/media card/ the settings are as follows:
Media Card Support ON Encryption Mode NONE Mass Storage Mode Support ON Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected YES I'm at a loss as to how to make this work as everything I read says the settings are correct.
Operating System WINDOWS 7 Pro Blackberry Desktop Ver 6.0.0.40 Blackberry Type Curve 8330 Device Software Ver 4.5.0.169
When I plug this phone with a usb cable it's driver is recognized however the media card and device are not listed as mass storage drives.. I have no way of accessing device/media card content through my computer. I checked bb device options and "Media Card Support" is "on".
I've searched all over the internet for solutions and have had no luck! When I connect my blackberry to my laptop (using windows) with the USB cable no message comes up on my phone about using it in mass storage mode. All that happens is the blackberry charges and Blackberry desktop manager opens, my laptop doesn't actually recognise it as a mass storage device.I have a blackberry bold 9700 using software version 6.0I've checked for updates using my blackberry and everything seems to be up to dateWent onto options>device>storage>ticked the box next to media card supportI then tried going onto device manager>double clicked blackberry martphone>details>Device instance path and it has a PID of 8004 so that's fine, there would be a problem if it showed 8001Tried downloading the tool anyway which is meant to solve a PID of 8001 in case but still no luckRestarted the blackberry, restarted the laptop, tried every usb port - still nothing!
The problem with the SGS II is that there's no connect to PC setting. The other problem is that to connect to as a mass storage device, you have to manually do this every time - In my car, the phone repeatedly beeps at me until I enter the USB connect screen, which is very annoying.
I had the number changed on my phone. Everyting worked until then. I can connect in all modes except for USB Mass Storage. I have updated my drivers, enabled USB debugging, etc. It works on another Windows 7 computer, but not on my main laptop. No matter what I do, it will not find the Mass Storage drivers. Everything else works great. I have to run in Mass Storage mode to get to some files for a work app.
Does anyone have a fix to get windows 7 to show my Storm in mass storage mode? The transfer in Roxio media manager is slow as **** and since my new PC has windows 7 I have not been able to get it to show the device memory cards a drives that I can just copy and paste to.
It's time that BB and Verizon get their S*&T together and stop tossing out excuses for the reason as to why things don't work. Take the time you would to write the excuse and come up with a patch or fix to the problems.
So everytime i connect my phone with my PC a message appears on my screen about needing the phones Mass Storage Mode Password but i never had any password for it? This is my first time doing this so Im sure i never put in a password how do i reset this or how can i figure out my password?
no matter what settings I use on the 9650 "Memory" settings. I cann't get any computer (Windows 7 or XP Pro) to recognize the device as "mass storage device" so I can access the memory card. There is plenty of items on the card, and I can access them fro mthe decive, but the computer won't "find" it. This is with DM 5.0 and 4.7, on windows XP Pro and Windows 7.
so i just got 8900 and inserted 2gb media card but i can only add stuff on it using desktop manager and i ditched my iphone just because i was so controlled by itunes, cant i just copy/paste into folders on the phone?
I just got my Blackberry and I am having trouble with the Mass Storage. The Media Sync will not recognize the memory card at all. Win 7 does not recognize the card when I first plugged in my phone by USB cable the install driver fails. This failing has happened on 3 computer 2 win 7 and one XP.
I have done the normal things like battery pulls and deleting the driver and letting it reinstall reboots and reinstall programs. I also have the most current programs off the website.I also have tried putting the SD card in the slot on my laptop (3 different cards in an adapter) and none are able to transfer files without lagging into never never land.Everything else seems to work just fine. But I would like to be able to transfer photos and music and at this rate I can't transfer them at all.
I have a Curve 8900 with a broken screen. I have connected it to Blackberry Desktop Software to get anything I can backed up. It appears to backup all application & organiser things, but wont let me sync music, pictures, or videos. Troubleshooter suggests that it's because I haven't enabled Mass Storage, but obviously I cant see the screen to see if prompts me to enable it. I have tried connecting my phone and randomly scrolling to see if I can click "yes" to enable it by chance, but it is just as likely that I have clicked "do not ask me again" and then clicked "no" as well.
Redownloaded desktop manager today. Wasn't working. Download complete - no roxio on my computer software - should it show up separately? Will sync. Tells me no photos to download. Mass storage mode is on.
I've run into a bit of a problem, as have MANY Photon 4G owners have as well.since mounting my Electrify as a USB mass storage device (the two "MOT" drives pop up in explorer), now the internal storage (which is where everything is) comes up as an unreadable drive. It mounted fine when I got it, then stopped working, then worked for a day, now it doesn't work.I've tried uninstalling drivers, taking out the battery, SD card, etc etc.
My wife bought a new factory-sealed curve (on ebay) because her old one broke. works perfectly in all regards. except - when connected to PC, won't prompt to go into Mass Storage Mode. We went into Options -> Media Options, and everything is set up properly. We even tried changing options here and changing them back. We called VZW blackberry support - they were stumped. we tried KB19717-The BlackBerry smartphone is not detected as a USB Mass Storage Device when connected to a computerand the Microsoft hotfix it references - no luck. (of course, they're all for 8520)the VZW support guy had her "hard reset" her unit (whatever that means). We reformatted the card. no luck. We tried a battery pull (several - would have to in order to swap memory cards). didn't matterWe uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop Manager 4.7 -059Putting the card into her old (screen-damaged-but-functional-unit) everything works fine. We tried a different card in her unit. No luck.We tried her unit on a different PC (different USB cable too) no luck. The device shows up in Device Manager, and Desktop Manager (and evil Roxio Media manager) all work fine. Can explore the card fine from the device, and the status in options -> media card says it's thereBut it will NOT show up as a mass storage device Because of what does work, it doesn't feel like a HW issue - maybe a driver issue?
I am trying to turn on the mass storage mode. I have found the information how to do this but when I go into Options from any icon the relevant list does not come up. When you highlight an icon, click on the Blackberry key and then on options it comes up with 'Home Screen Preferences' at the top of the page, not the menu I was expecting.
I have a Nokia x6 16 gb..I had it for about a week in which time I added 14gb of music and the uk maps..All was working perfectly. However.... Last Saturday I decided to use the "comes with music" voucher that came with it..I selected the music I wanted and downloaded it and was told that I had to download the DRM software to play...I clicked yes and then waited and waited..it seemed my phone had frozen as ovi player would not transfer any music to it.. I unplugged it and tried to plug back in but got the dreaded "mtp device driver failed". I have tried everything I have read on these forums and the web including:- Deleting the folder in the private folder on the mass storage card. performing a hard reset on the phone (although my music was still on the card?) Deleting all of the nokia software and running the nokia cleaner and reinstalling... Doing the above but disabling Windows media player and reanabling it a later date still no joy.. I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my desktop so no options to reinstall WMP just disable. I have tried to plug it into my wifes' laptop which has windows 7 home premium 32 bit and I get the same message however her nokia 5800 works fine in her laptop..
Can anyone tell me what Bluetooth device will work 100% with my 8350i BB? I read and heard many horror stories and dont want to make a purchase I can not take back.
I just installed V6.0 on my PC, and it keeps telling me that my calendar isn't installed. in earlier versions i sync with my outlook calendar (device) but now its impossible.
I have been successfully connecting my 8330 to a desktop PC running XP for quite a while. The device sw is v4.5.0.175. I recently got a new Lenovo T410 laptop, running Windows 7. I have downloaded the DM software (v5.0.1) and verified that my device SW is up-to-date, but the laptop is still not recognizing that the device is connected (via USB). I've tried it in all the USB ports on the laptop, and also followed all the steps detailed in KB13146, with no luck. I can't find anything in any of the forums that reference Windows 7. Can anyone provide help to resolve this problem?
Recently my Nokia 5800 has had problems connecting to my computer through Mass Storage option. Will connect no problem through PC Suite but not as a USB Mass storage.Have re-downloaded the drivers and installed them again and still same problem.
Whenever i connect this phone to PC using Mass storage mode
it shows the drive but when i open it, it says "please insert in drive..." or when i check drive properties, it says Size availble as 0 and used also as 0.
In short, it is not detecting the memory card although it works fine with OVI
