The problem with the SGS II is that there's no connect to PC setting. The other problem is that to connect to as a mass storage device, you have to manually do this every time - In my car, the phone repeatedly beeps at me until I enter the USB connect screen, which is very annoying.
View 2 RepliesI have been dragging and dropping files to my OSX 10.6.8 MacBook happily for a while now, but recently my USB connection has failed to work and Kies keeps dropping out. I used to be able to simply plug the USB cable in, click on the drop-down notification and go from there.However, I now have no drop-down (and yes, I have tried a bunch of different cables), and when I go into USB utilities and go through the rigmarole there, I get stuck in an endless loop where it tells me to plug in the cable, and then tells me the cable is plugged in, and I have to "unplug to connect" - it's all very strange.
I have tried it with debugging both on and off and that does not seem to make any difference. At the same time, Kies now is very sticky, and refuses to find the folders I want. I also have Airdroid, which also is doing silly things and will load one file and no others.Has something happened to my S2 ? Is there an easy step to getting things back on track ? I know it is possible to transfer data of all sorts to the SD card with a reader, but that seems to defeat the purpose of everything - it's also a chore and not easy to do in a hurry.
I have to use my phone in mass storage mode in order for it to be seen by my car stereo (Alpine x305s). However, It appears that you can only access the internal memory of the phone in this mode. Strangely, it does have a folder called external_sd, but this seems to reference a folder on the internal space. How I can access my external (32 gig) card.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an unrooted S2 running Android v2.3.4, which I connect to my PC using USB debugging off.I do this because I have the Widgetsoid app installed, and use it for one-click USB mass storage access on my PC when the phone is connected.when I connect via USB however (through Widgetsoid or the "clean" way though the Wireless Settings), my home screen seems to refresh, and the Social Hub icon I have at the bottom of the screen (along with Applications, Call and Contacts) vanishes. This happens every time I mount the mass storage, meaning I have to go into the application menu to drag it back into the tray and save it again, but the same repeats each time.

-mass storage is turned on
-Connectivity is fine via desktop manager so the cable is fine.
-auto enable mass storage mode is on.
-I use XP pro latest service pack and latest desktop manager
blackberry is fully updated.
Should I not be able to see the media card as any other storage device in "My Computer"? Like a flash memory stick? I've tried various USB ports and 2 different PC's with same result. Is there an alternative to Roxio? This might solve the problem but computers just are not seeing this thing.

I have updated my drivers, enabled USB debugging, etc. It works on another Windows 7 computer, but not on my main laptop. No matter what I do, it will not find the Mass Storage drivers. Everything else works great. I have to run in Mass Storage mode to get to some files for a work app.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a MetroPCS Samsung Freeform. The power cable also functions as a USB cable, which I've used before to successfully transfer pictures TO my Mac laptop and ringtones FROM my laptop.
The problem is, now I can't get the phone to go into Mass Storage mode. I go to Phone Settings->PC Connection and set it to "Mass Storage", but it never actually stays set as that. I go back and it defaults to "No conncetion".
How can I get my phone to go back into Mass Storage Mode? I got it to work before!
PS, before anyone asks, Bluetooth is off, and I have a Mac so I can't install the drivers from the CD that came with it. I have a feeling this might have something to do with the Service Menu. (when you go to Settings then press # then type in the code). I might have accidentally changed a setting when I was messing around in the service menu
Does anyone have a fix to get windows 7 to show my Storm in mass storage mode? The transfer in Roxio media manager is slow as **** and since my new PC has windows 7 I have not been able to get it to show the device memory cards a drives that I can just copy and paste to.
It's time that BB and Verizon get their S*&T together and stop tossing out excuses for the reason as to why things don't work. Take the time you would to write the excuse and come up with a patch or fix to the problems.

no matter what settings I use on the 9650 "Memory" settings. I cann't get any computer (Windows 7 or XP Pro) to recognize the device as "mass storage device" so I can access the memory card. There is plenty of items on the card, and I can access them fro mthe decive, but the computer won't "find" it. This is with DM 5.0 and 4.7, on windows XP Pro and Windows 7.

Last Saturday I decided to use the "comes with music" voucher that came with it..I selected the music I wanted and downloaded it and was told that I had to download the DRM software to play...I clicked yes and then waited and waited..it seemed my phone had frozen as ovi player would not transfer any music to it.. I unplugged it and tried to plug back in but got the dreaded "mtp device driver failed". I have tried everything I have read on these forums and the web including:- Deleting the folder in the private folder on the mass storage card. performing a hard reset on the phone (although my music was still on the card?) Deleting all of the nokia software and running the nokia cleaner and reinstalling... Doing the above but disabling Windows media player and reanabling it a later date still no joy.. I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my desktop so no options to reinstall WMP just disable. I have tried to plug it into my wifes' laptop which has windows 7 home premium 32 bit and I get the same message however her nokia 5800 works fine in her laptop..

My father has an S5, on Verizon, running 5.0 I believe, bootloader is locked and it has not been rooted.Her problem is that she can't move her pictures from device storage to her as card.
