BB Curve 8900 :: Phone Isn't Recognized By PC (as Mass Storage)
Feb 12, 2010
so i just got 8900 and inserted 2gb media card but i can only add stuff on it using desktop manager and i ditched my iphone just because i was so controlled by itunes, cant i just copy/paste into folders on the phone?
When I plug this phone with a usb cable it's driver is recognized however the media card and device are not listed as mass storage drives.. I have no way of accessing device/media card content through my computer. I checked bb device options and "Media Card Support" is "on".
I debranded my C905a into C905, which works great. I also like to connect it to my PC in phone mode so I can tether via Sony Ericsson PC suite. One day, my PC installed some USB driver on its own, and all of a sudden the phone can only connect in mass storage mode, instead of phone mode. Now I can't back up or tether. Has anyone ever had this problem before? I have windows vista basic; Please help I'd appreciate any info on how to fix this problem.
My wife bought a new factory-sealed curve (on ebay) because her old one broke. works perfectly in all regards. except - when connected to PC, won't prompt to go into Mass Storage Mode. We went into Options -> Media Options, and everything is set up properly. We even tried changing options here and changing them back. We called VZW blackberry support - they were stumped. we tried KB19717-The BlackBerry smartphone is not detected as a USB Mass Storage Device when connected to a computerand the Microsoft hotfix it references - no luck. (of course, they're all for 8520)the VZW support guy had her "hard reset" her unit (whatever that means). We reformatted the card. no luck. We tried a battery pull (several - would have to in order to swap memory cards). didn't matterWe uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop Manager 4.7 -059Putting the card into her old (screen-damaged-but-functional-unit) everything works fine. We tried a different card in her unit. No luck.We tried her unit on a different PC (different USB cable too) no luck. The device shows up in Device Manager, and Desktop Manager (and evil Roxio Media manager) all work fine. Can explore the card fine from the device, and the status in options -> media card says it's thereBut it will NOT show up as a mass storage device Because of what does work, it doesn't feel like a HW issue - maybe a driver issue?
Just got myself a BB 8900, however it dosent seem to have any device memory, i have looked under memory in the options menu and it doesnt say anything about device memory and when i connect it to my PC i cannot find the phone on my computer unless i have a memory card pluged in,
I've become fed up with Roxio Media Manager as it crashes my computers. I read the instructions to access my media card via mass storage.
-mass storage is turned on -Connectivity is fine via desktop manager so the cable is fine. -auto enable mass storage mode is on. -I use XP pro latest service pack and latest desktop manager blackberry is fully updated.
Should I not be able to see the media card as any other storage device in "My Computer"? Like a flash memory stick? I've tried various USB ports and 2 different PC's with same result. Is there an alternative to Roxio? This might solve the problem but computers just are not seeing this thing.
So everytime i connect my phone with my PC a message appears on my screen about needing the phones Mass Storage Mode Password but i never had any password for it? This is my first time doing this so Im sure i never put in a password how do i reset this or how can i figure out my password?
N8's Phone memory is only 250MB. The default memory for storage mails and other stuff is phone memory. How can I switch to MASS STORAGE or MEMORY CARD. specially mailForExchange msgs?
I have the phone connected to Windows (XP) and I can't disconnect it as a mass storage device from the phone.. I pull the drop-down down and tap "Connected as mass storage" and then try to uncheck Mass Storage... and nothing happens. Wonderful. I guess I have to disconnect through Windows or just rip the cable out of the computer; now I feel safer.
I am having problems with mass storage mode. When I connect my device and try to see the media using the music, pictures, or video buttons on the desktop manager it says I need to turn on mass storage mode however when I check the device settings under options/media card/ the settings are as follows:
Media Card Support ON Encryption Mode NONE Mass Storage Mode Support ON Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected YES I'm at a loss as to how to make this work as everything I read says the settings are correct.
Operating System WINDOWS 7 Pro Blackberry Desktop Ver 6.0.0.40 Blackberry Type Curve 8330 Device Software Ver 4.5.0.169
I just got my Blackberry and I am having trouble with the Mass Storage. The Media Sync will not recognize the memory card at all. Win 7 does not recognize the card when I first plugged in my phone by USB cable the install driver fails. This failing has happened on 3 computer 2 win 7 and one XP.
I have done the normal things like battery pulls and deleting the driver and letting it reinstall reboots and reinstall programs. I also have the most current programs off the website.I also have tried putting the SD card in the slot on my laptop (3 different cards in an adapter) and none are able to transfer files without lagging into never never land.Everything else seems to work just fine. But I would like to be able to transfer photos and music and at this rate I can't transfer them at all.
I have a Curve 8900 with a broken screen. I have connected it to Blackberry Desktop Software to get anything I can backed up. It appears to backup all application & organiser things, but wont let me sync music, pictures, or videos. Troubleshooter suggests that it's because I haven't enabled Mass Storage, but obviously I cant see the screen to see if prompts me to enable it. I have tried connecting my phone and randomly scrolling to see if I can click "yes" to enable it by chance, but it is just as likely that I have clicked "do not ask me again" and then clicked "no" as well.
Redownloaded desktop manager today. Wasn't working. Download complete - no roxio on my computer software - should it show up separately? Will sync. Tells me no photos to download. Mass storage mode is on.
I've run into a bit of a problem, as have MANY Photon 4G owners have as well.since mounting my Electrify as a USB mass storage device (the two "MOT" drives pop up in explorer), now the internal storage (which is where everything is) comes up as an unreadable drive. It mounted fine when I got it, then stopped working, then worked for a day, now it doesn't work.I've tried uninstalling drivers, taking out the battery, SD card, etc etc.
I am trying to turn on the mass storage mode. I have found the information how to do this but when I go into Options from any icon the relevant list does not come up. When you highlight an icon, click on the Blackberry key and then on options it comes up with 'Home Screen Preferences' at the top of the page, not the menu I was expecting.
New to this place but recently downloaded apps world to my bb8900 and since then I have an alert icon that is a left downward arrow surrounded by a circle. It has the red/white asteriscs that shows you it`s an alert. Can anyone tell me what it is or means and how can i erase it?
Lately each time I drag and drop music or videos to my phone using mass storage, my music player won't show it. There's nothing in recently added and I tried refreshing it, but it showed me 'General:System Error' and stopped refreshing. I checked in my file manager and the songs are still there.
Ive got several albums on my memory card and I would like to transfer the music to the mass drive on the N97, I have dropped an album into sounds, then gone into the player and pressed the refresh option but unfortunately the album doesnt appear whatsoever.
Is there a certain folder that has to be made or even for the music to go into for the player to recognise it? Ive tried reversing the option and putting the album back onto my memory card, the album has disappeared altogether but still shows up for transferring to other folders. Can you possibly tell my where Im going wrong.
There is another problem thats arisen, the phone doesnt recognise the usb lead when attached to either my laptop or main pc, Im buying another lead so Im just hoping that would be an answer to my problem on that part.
Recently my Nokia 5800 has had problems connecting to my computer through Mass Storage option. Will connect no problem through PC Suite but not as a USB Mass storage.Have re-downloaded the drivers and installed them again and still same problem.
Whenever i connect this phone to PC using Mass storage mode
it shows the drive but when i open it, it says "please insert in drive..." or when i check drive properties, it says Size availble as 0 and used also as 0.
In short, it is not detecting the memory card although it works fine with OVI
