BB Curve 8300 :: How To Update Software - Updater Says Running Latest Software
Apr 9, 2010
According to my status, I'm running version 4.2.2.182 software. I've been on the blackberry website, and apparently version 4.5 is available. Now I tried to update my phone software, and according to the updater my phone is running the latest software. This isn't true though, and I think updating to 4.5 will help remove some of the problems with my Blackberry. How can I update my 8310?
my Blackberry started doing something rather strange 2 days ago while it was sitting on the table for about 3 hours in stand by or whatever it does when you aren't using it. When I picked it up it was really hot even in its holster and I noticed that the battery was critical so I plugged it in after 30 mins it wouldn't charge so I took the battery off the BB allowed it to cool and placed it in the Blackberry again this time it charged and works fine then again today it does it again. Today I disabled Bluetooth and wireless prior to it happening so I know its something else. Now I would normally suspect a bad battery but if so it wouldn't charge and work normally would it?As for performance the only quirk that mine has is that once in a while it freezes (goes to hourglass) for 2 - 3 mins once it did it while I was dialing a call. Its on the latest os or so it says the blackberry desktop.
I yesterday installed Nokia Software Updater 2.5.2 (LATEST) on my PC Running-
Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit build 7600 No ovi suite installed.
I had some problems in my new software V50 of Nokia 5800. I tried to reinstall the firmware but there is no option to reinstall as earlier versions of NSU had.
But in help file of that NSU(5.2.5) it is written that-:''After the phone has been detected and identified and the update information checked, Nokia Software Updater displays a summary on the PC screen. If you want to continue updating your phone software, click the Update button. It is also possible to reinstall the same software version that is already in the phone. Now what do I do as in my NSU there is no option to Reinstall?
I'm new to these forums, and to the BlackBerry, having had my 8310 for only a few months (through my company). My daughter, however, has had her 8310 Curve since last March, and she has had intermittent problems with it. She has had to have it replaced under warranty by AT&T twice. This last time, she discovered that her sounds had ceased her alarm did nothing when it went off. The sounds later returned mysteriously, but she decided that that was the last straw. She wanted to take it back to the AT&T warranty center to get it replaced again, but I suggested she attempt to upgrade her system first. My theory was, since the new software was released, it would make sense to upgrade. My company phone has been upgraded (OTA) with no problems, so I thought (silly me) it would be just as easy to do my daughter's Curve.
The first thing I did was go to her Options/Advanced Options screen to do a wireless upgrade. However, that option was not available on that screen. Odd, I thought her phone and mine are identical, and mine had the wireless upgrade option. So I came to these forums and looked for some assistance, and found the sticky at the top of the forum about the 4.5 software upgrade. I followed the link to the BlackBerry page that contained the download for the AT&T software (making sure I selected the AT&T multilanguage version of 4.5.0.182). I downloaded that version, but decided before launching it to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager instead. It dutifully reported that her Curve needed a software upgrade to 4.5.0.182, so I decided to attempt the upgrade over the USB connection. When it got to the point where it had backed up her phone and was ready to do the system backup prior to wiping it, the connection broke. Don't know why - I used the BB-supplied USB cable. So, the upgrade didn't happen that way. The next thing I did was launch the AT&T download that I had retrieved from the BB link. It dutifully installed the latest BB Desktop Manager (5.0.1, I think), then when I hooked her Curve up to the computer it once again reported that she needed a software upgrade. I elected to do the upgrade, and it went through the process again, backing up the Curve to my computer and getting ready to wipe. This time, it again broke the connection, but when I chose "Retry" it seemed to proceed as normal, erasing the device in preparation for upgrading. Now the fun begins. When the actual upgrade began, the device broke the connection again. I once again got the dialog box with the "Retry" and "Cancel" boxes, and clicked "Retry." But when I did that, the screen on the Curve went white and revealed an icon which I can only assume means, "No OS installed," along with the small number "507" underneath. The BB Desktop Manager appeared to be attempting to upgrade the software, but after leaving it setting like that all night there was no change in the status. So it is well and truly bricked.
My question now is, what is my recourse? Is there any possible way to recover this device (since the computer does not recognize it through the USB connection)? Do I simply need to take it back to AT&T and have them replace it (again)? And will the backup I did last night be restorable to the new BB (assuming they give her another Curve)? I hope to get some answers fairly quickly, because I'll be able to hear the eruption from here when she discovers her Curve is a paperweight. Thanks in advance for your help, and your availability for BlackBerry users.
I received a message "Action required - update password!" But i did not change my password. Oh well, so I'm trying to follow the directions to update my password from my computer. however, it says on the Blackberry Internet Service home page I need to click "e-mail accounts" and then edit my password. It says that "e-mail accounts" is listed on the left pane. I don't find it anywhere.
Last night I updated from 4.5.0175 to 4.5.0186 and all my memos were deleted. Is there any way to recover them? I am desperate! Also - is there any way to prevent this from happening again?
i am using curve 9300 and want to update old OS to latest OS 6.0v. i am using online updater (via blackberry official site) but evry time it was showing "please check your internet connection......" i also downloaded desktop software and tried to update from there but again getting same message. please help how to fix this and update to OS 6.o V
I developed a problem with my E51. Active standby crashes couple minutes after staring up and becomes unresponsive. When you turn on the phone, active standby looks fine and everything displays normally (e.g. 1 Unread email, meeting at noon, etc.). However, right after that it gets stuck and doesn't update anymore. That means that if you read the email, the notification remains. Or if you get 3 more new emails, it will still display 1 unread email. Same thing with calendar even after the meeting passes, it's not cleared. Not even the next day, and new meetings will not be displayed on active standby until the phone is reboot.
I just realized that even the administrative shortcuts don't work (i.e. *#06# for IMEI or *#0000# for firmware). The phone beeps, but nothing is displayed.Does anyone have a solution to this, yet another, nokia software issue? Cause the latest advice I got when looking for solutions to my constant nokia problems (email crashing, random reboots, etc.) was Go and get a Blackberry I'd rather not go that way, unless I have no other choice.
I have an S2, running latest firmware and cannot add my IMAP account to it. I have my gmail, hotmail and exchange accounts setup fine. But when I try to do the IMAP account, I enter the login details, server etc., and when it tries to test the incoming side of things it force quits. I've rebooted etc.
My iPhone 4s no longer detects bluetooth accessories. I've tried resetting my iPhone completely and still no success. I'm sure that the iPhone is the problem as my iPad and wife's itouch detects the bluetooth accessories just fine. I'm out of options. I'm currently running the latest iOS (8.1.1)
I got a BB 8310 from my girlfriend. While tryin to update to simply sync my music to the phone, i decided to update the phone's software which has turned into a disaster! While updating, during the screen where it says "DO NOT UNPLUG", the faulty USB cable came out leaving the phone unfinished. Now all the phone does is blink with a red light. It does NOT come on at all. The screen remains black. When its plugged in to the computer now, it doesn't read its a BlackBerry. It says "USB device not recognized".
Now I know that during the installation the phone's system files where probably deleted. And not replaced. So what now? Is there something I can do to have the phone recognized by my computer? It was backed-up before the new installations took place, but does not help because the computer is not recognizing the phone. HELP PLEASE! I would hate to lose my new BlackBerry before I actually get to enjoy it.
I've been trying to update my phone for about 2 hrs now and i can't seem to get it to work. I've updated my desktop to v5.0, but everytime i click the link on the website it tells me i have the current version. i checked under "about" and i have v. 4.5.0.175. HOW DO I GET V5.0? oh and i have verizon if that matters.
So, I'm pretty sure my phone is fried - thanks to the wireless software update that my phone told me to download yesterday from Blackberry.Little update icon pops up on the screen telling me that there's a software upgrade of high importance so I tell it to download over the air. About half an hour later, my phone starts flashing and comes up with a quick screen that says "rolling back java" with a status bar that stays at 99% and then power cycles and does the same thing. I had to take the battery out - it's power cycling every minute at least. It won't do anything else, and my blackberry desktop software doesn't recognize it. I left the battery out overnight so the power cycling didn't drain the battery and as soon as I put the battery back in, it just goes back to its little java msg and power cycling.Any ideas? I will be taking it in to Telus later today. I'm assuming that it will have to be sent away and re-flashed and I will have lost everything on it.
I have tried several times to update the BlackBerry App World software on my Blackberry Curve 8520. But the update has not happened.I have connected my mobile to the desktop and Connection to smart phone is successful. It did show my PN on the Browser. Updation of the App World Software just goes on without any info that it is complete. I left the device for the whole day.So I am unable to download any software on my blackberry device.
My N900 is telling me to update through the PC and not over the air. But when I go to the Nokia USA website the device is not updateable. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have just reinstalled the firmware on my N95 ( via Ovi Suite, product code 0534851 - V. 35.0.002 ). Next, i wanted to update my Maps platform, because this firmware still has the classic Nokia Maps 2.0, and the Ovi Map Loader says i need to update to Ovi Maps 3.0 in order to download the maps. So, I installed the Nokia Maps Updater 1.0.12 (the latest, i suppose. i've just downloaded from the nokia website), I exited the Ovi Suite, started the Maps Updater, and i get this error: "Cannot get enough information about the phone [3].Unspecified error [1]." Tried it on a friend's E51 and same error.
I've used the Nokia Communicator since the 9000i, these phones take a beating and keeps on ticking. I dug forth my old Nokia e90 after my iPhone fetish disappated. However, I've never updated the firmware of my e90 and thanks to the Ovi software, I can't even though I want to.I've tried on three seperate machines and they all give me the exact same error message in both the Ovi suite and the Software Updater. (See attachments.)The three machines I tested it on are all Windows 7 32bits. I've been googling like a mad man and I see several others have had this issue with their phones. I've also tried every trick in the book (remove expired root certificates, disable firewall, restart twice, disable antivirus etc.) to absolutely NO avail.
I read allot of posts and tried allot of solutions but untill now none worked for me i use windows 7 ultimatie 64 bit, installed the ovi suite and the nokia software updater. then why i try to update the device software it says the phone is not connected, when i then reconnect the phone i can press continue but immediatly after that its says its not connected again. even though the ovi store has it still connected and i can browse the phone from the pc aswell.. I tried different usb ports, i tried it on an win xp machine ( with same results ).
Currently my n97 had software version 1.2 i believe, when i use the phone itself to update it says no updates available.. i dont know whats wrong, because other then the update everything works normal.
I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)
Latest official update 2.1 (UXP update)It's for X10a but works just fine with X10i go here and download the X10a-2_1_A-_0_435_EW.ftf file [URL] download FlashTool 0.2.4 [URL] Install it inside there will be 5 folders?
I have updated itunes on my laptop. When I connect my iphone 3gs to update the IOS, it will go thru the process but when it gets towards the end, it will not. Any reason why it will not update. I can sync up the phone to itunes no problems and it recognizes it.
Want to install the latest update PR.1.1 that came out today, but despite removing every application installed on there (something that I only did 4 days ago with the last update, then spent time re-installing them), I still can't install it.
I've re-installed Conky and can see that I only have 33mb free in Root, but have no idea what's in there filing it up. Does anyone have any ideas?I can't flash it through NSU, as that says that I have the latest version at the moment already, when I know that to not be the case...
I am on Orange UK and unable to get UMA calling. This feature is a must as I'm sure you have all read many times before.
I noticed a new software on the Blackberry website
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.0.0.2416 (All Languages) Package Version: 7.0.0.2416Consisting of:Applications: 7.0.0.590Software Platform: 5.0.0.739File name: 9900jAllLang_PBr7.0.0_rel2416_PL5.0.0.739_A7.0.0.590_Orange_UK.exeFile size: 242.05MBNote: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
When I download and install this file (240mb), and try to update my device it says there is no update available. Can anybody shed any light as to how I apply this Package Version as I am currently on 7.0.0.2406, or can anybody confirm whether UMA is actually included within the package?
"UMA (signal boost) issuedue to the newer spec of the 9900 and 9860 Blackberry Devices, they do not currently support UMA. UMA will be available for these devices in Early 2012" [URL]
