BB Bold :: Reformat Or Fix Bold 9700 After Power Went Out During An OS Update?
Mar 6, 2011
I am trying to find out how to reformat or fix my blackberry (bold 9700) after my power went out during an OS update. My phone just shows App Error 200 and when I view the threads (see links below) I find the answer but it is in another link. Each time I click the link I get the message:
When I try to turn on my Bold 9700 the load bar only shows the OS load to about 1/4 of the way through and the phone shuts of and continues to restart and shut off without ever turning on completely. Is this phone dead? There is no damage to the phone, I turned it off full power down last night before I went to bed unplugged and this is what I woke up to.
I just got my 9700 less than a week ago, then I woke up this morning to make a phone call. After the call, my phone just turned off, and since then, it's been trying to power on. The BlackBerry screen will show, along with the loading bar, but it'll only load about 1/4 of the way, then the screen flashes white, then turns off, and does the whole thing over again. It's been going on for about 45 mins now.
Twice yesterday afternoon and once this am my 9700 power cycled / rebooted itself. This is a pain as I have berry buzz and have to reconfigure my profile as the settings are gone after a power cycle. Do I have a virus? I have Quickpull installed but not configured to automatically run. Do I need to install Quickpull? Any help would be appreciated.
As I was talking on my relatively new Bold 9700 it just completely died! The battery was charged but the screen and everything just went black. It will not power on. I have removed the battery and put it back in and the only response to that it the red LED light coming on for a few minutes then coming off.
The battery life on my phone has been amazing. HOWEVER today I had about one bar left on the battery indicator and my phone just shut off unexpectedly when I was on a phone call. I couldn't get it to turn on so I did a battery pull and it did. Then... when I turned it back on it said "Power to Low for Radio Use".I'm a newbie to the BlackBerry world so: Do our phone just shut of with no warning? Is the "Power to Low for Radio Use" a normal thing? I would think there would be some kind of low battery warning before our phone just dies.
Every time I register a new email in my BIS network, it appears in my blackberry as a newly created application. Does this drain resources and battery?
Last night while using my bb bold 9700,it just went off, came back on and then my bbm(messenger) was deleted,so i tried updating the OS which turned out to be a failure, unplugging my bb from my laptop minutes later it went off and the red light was blinking twice, charged it all night and symptoms still persist.
i just updated my bold last night and after the update the phone was supposed to restart and when it powers up and the blackberry sign come and its loading, it does so to some point and just goes off, then restarts again.
Plugged my 9700 into desktop manager today & was prompted to update software, which I did. Device now at platform 5.1.0.175, app version: 5.0.0.862 on Vodafone UK. I've noticed that the 'wireless update' option is no longer there.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'. In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I got a Blackberry Bold 9700 for Chritstmas, I dowloaded Desktop Manager and trying to update my Blackberry 9700 to OS 6 but it keeps saying the following message
"This BlackBerry® Device Software upgrade includes new features and significant enhancements to the BlackBerry® solution and, as such, is only available to users with an active BlackBerry subscription. [URL]
I purchased a second hand BlackBerry Bold 9700, i wanted to upgrade the software to OS 6. I downloaded the Required Software (OS 6) from T-Mobile UK "Provider" and installed it on my pc, then i opened the Blackberry Desktop Software, "It Should Show that there is a new update for the phone software". but the problem that i am suffering from it gives me a messege that there is no software available. the current device software is App Version : 5.0.0.344 (541), and what i downloaded from the provider (T-Mobile UK) is App Version 6.0.0.570. I alsow Tried to download from many providers like AT&T, SK-Telecom, T-Mobile UK. i tried removing them all from my pc and instaling them one by one, but still no progress. i followed all the instructions on how to remove the file named "Vendor" from the path (C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader). if i removed this file it should show me that there is an update, but still no hope i gives the same messege that there is not software update available.
i tried another methode by using a software called BBsak. And it askes me to set a password then i Wiped the device the phone screen turns white like a system error, i go back to (C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader) to the file "Loader" and execute it, it show that every thing is fine and the software is being installed is 5.0.0.344 (541) even though i was installing (6.0.0.570 T-Mobile UK).
I have got several email that say I can update my Blackberry Bold 9700 to the new OS 6. I currently have v5.0.0.602. I use at&t as my service provider. To update I hook up my Blackberry to my PC and go to the update page on the Blackberry website. I click on the check for updates button on the website. It searches for about 30 seconds and says that I have no updates available. I really want this update so why it says I don't have updates when I am not up to date.
I have been trying to upgrade my BB Bold 9700 to OS 6. Ive been having difficulties doing it. I have upgraded a similar defice prior, however this specific unit cannot be upgraded. Are there any reasons why a specific device cannot be upgraded to OS 6?
I have a BB Bold 2 (9700). The Media Card slot wont lock down the card and keeps springing it out. If i keep the card pressed down it works but wont lock down.
I have Outlook 2007 on my desktop computer and use BT as a service provider and for my email, my Blackberry supplier is Vodafone and I use BIS.I have noticed that if my Blackberry receives an email first I don't get the same email delivered to my desktop. If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.
With all the problems we are having with AppWorld and the update tip coming from crackberry. You would think we would have some kind of an explanation or at least tell the members who are having issues (there are many) what is going on and have they talked to rim about this problem..
while i was hoping for the new os software .586 to be available through OTA i didnt mind using the comp & dm as well. It was actually pretty easy just plug and play & follow directions sorta thing, and it only took less than 30mins. So far id say the new software is ok, it seems a bit faster & for most people i say the 3G is good but i guess it depends where your at.
Now for the few things that are annoying me haha... If there is a way or option to fix these please help.
1. There is no more Standby Mode (top right button/mute button)? People are saying the Lock button (top left) is also now the new standymode. So this a 2 in 1 sort of thing? Now what can i do with my top right button? id like to use it for something...
2. Ok this is really annoying me. Whats the point of having a password when it doesnt work when you Lock the phone? like the above for example, i lock the phone & it directly goes to a black screen (standby mode?) and if i want to unlock it the following says: keypad is locked. press the lock button to unlock seriously annoying, now anyone can get into my phone. The weird thing is that if you lock it, black screen shows, then wait a few mins and the password feature is now working. Basically this password feature should be working right away once we lock it...
3. This is a litte bit annoying or maybe its just one of those things i gotta get used to if there isnt an option to fix it. But another thing i noticed is that when someone is calling my phone it now shows their number as well w/ the name. I liked it when it just showed the name, no need to show the number with it...
4. The app "my account" for t-mobile which lets you check your minutes, check your bill, update stuff, etc is no longer working? its been down even when i had the previous software .330 Whats up with that?! its a very usefull/helpfull app & hopefully it will start working again.
i buy the blackberry from australia telstra and now i m in india and i want to update my blackberry bold 9700 from os5 to os6 and no one can help me out and when i try to update my blackberry online then the error message was shown that. check ur internet connection or try again later pls help me now can i update my blackberry bold 9700
I have update several Bold 9700 with the OS6 but now i have a device which i'm not able to update. I have searched the forum but haven't found any similar update issues.
- I donwloaded the new OS from my service provider on the blackberry website.
- Installed the software on my laptop and two other laptops.
- I already had the latest version of the desktop software, but reinstalled it anyway.
- i started the blackberry desktop software, connected the 9700, no update available.
- tried it via apploader no OS update available
- Removed vendor.xml and tried again, no update available.
- complete security wipe including applications, tried again, no update available.
I tried all above on 3 different laptops all gave the same result.I will now try to downgrade the OS to an earlier OS 5 version and then try to update to OS 6 again.
I am attempting to update the OS on my BB Bold 9700, as suggested by the BB Deskyop Sofware. The update started and seemed to be progressing but about 3/4 of the way through it is frozen at "Loading module"net_rim_speech_data_en_US.cod".
What should I do? The system warns "do not disconnect your device or stop this process as it could make your device unusable"
Later: I solved this problem by disconnecting the phone from the PC and downloading the OS6 package from the Blackberry.com/Downloads site, re-installing the Blackberry Deskop Sofware and re-starting the update process, this time with all power saving on the PC turned off.
im recently got a bb bold 9700 , i am using Vodafone (india) on it ! The only problem i am facing is , that when i use desktop manager 6 to find updates for my phone, it says no update found. and when i click on view other versions , it shows os6 , but im unable to update as it says " only active blackberry service subscribers are entitled to install this blackberry device software upgrade " , now i DONT have a Data plan on my bold ! just using wifi to browse the net.. is this the reason why it is unable to update ? my brother has bb 9780, he updated without any problems to new bundle of os 6 ! even he doesnt have a data plan !please guide me ! i saw many links for the leaked version, but i want the official update only ! i downloaded desktop manager from blackberry site.
My BlackBerry Bold 9700 is having a problem with the App Error 523. So, I read some of the answers about it and I tried also but it won't work. Now, what I'm trying to do is to Update it with that lastest BB OS which is 6.1. And I have this also problem when I open the BB is, there is this message saying "Uncaught expression 6 <=6" .
I have blackberry bold 9700 and its over two years now and it says no software updates available, i have installed the software on my laptop and connected to the internet but still it says no software updates.
After doing the 9700 OS upgrade ever time i sync the phone it tells me there is a core update to v 5.0.0 but the version i have seems to be higher than this. When i look it says the the prefered version is the lower one. Is there any way of removing this box? I read in a thread that you can delete the version from your PC but i dont know what or where to look.
I cannot check for updates of the OS over the air. It always says update failed try updating the software again or contact service provider. Than about a minute later says "no updates available". Has anyone else had the same issue? Is this something RIM is aware of? I'm on .296 and I know .405 is out there for att.I also noticed under certificates, Verisign/RSA Secure Server Root (last one @ bottom) Expired Jan 7 2010 and has a nice red X next to it.. Could some of you check this out on your Berries.
