I found a very annoying bug in my bold 9900 (latest firmware):When you activate the keypad lock (hardware button on device's top) you are still able to shutdown the device into standby by pressing ~ 5 sec. the power off button (hardware button right side: "power").this is a absolutely no-go.

As a Vodafone customer this Bold9900 is completly useless - Vodafone cannot connect my Bold9900 and I see the T of Telekom Why does RIM not have a quality assurance ? I have followed all the steps (used the desktop app to transfer the data from the old phone to the new one), moved the SIM card but I still can't set up the email or use BBM.I spoke to the service provider here in Romania (orange) and did everything they said (to go to blackberry. orange.com and change the model of the phone, to go to Host Routing Table and use the Register Now tool) but I didn't manage to solve the problem. If I insert the SIM card into the old phone everything works perfect.Also when I try to create a new account for the new phone on url... using the PIN and IMEI from the new phone I get the message - "Cannot create account: Your BlackBerry® Internet Service Account is suspended or deactivated"

View 5 Replies View RelatedI found out how to lock the keypad on the 9700 after this new screwy update to the 9700.To lock keypad press and hold "A" for 1-2 seconds or push the "lock button" at top left edge of phone.To unlock the keypad go to the very top left corner ridge on the very top of the phone and press the "lock" button.Will take some getting used to but will prevent unwanted calls while holstered or in purse.The best way I found to lock keypad without a password.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a dedicated BB users and have been using many models over the years, but this is the first annoying problem i encounters with the 9700.i bought 2 tMo 9700 last week for me and my wife. when i got home, i updated the os of my 9700 to .586
the problem started when the battery level reach 40%. whenever i'm in a call or the bb in keypad lock mode, it suddenly shut off itself. and then i can't turned it on unless i plugged in the charger. but after it turned on, i can unplugged the charger and the bb would be normal until the battery reach 0%.
i thought i was a battery problem with my 9700, so i tried using my wife battery, and it was still the same problem coming out. so then i thought it was an OS problem, so i upgrade it to .593, and it still gave me the same problem. then i tried downgrade it to .578, and it still the same.then my guess was it was a faulty 9700. but i tried the software upgrade to my wife's BB and then she had the same problem as i am.
what's wrong with our 9700's? can anyone help us? i have been looking all over the internet but found no solution.we have the same apps installed beside add ons: ubertwitter, opera mini, google sync, googlemaps,foyage, blackcorpo theme.
I have always assigned my left convience key to lock my screen. After updating to 545 I have lost the option to even choose the keypad lock opt. Does neone know where this went? I updated with the official not the beta. Also I notice volume adjustments while on a call is not precise when lowering or raising.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using bold2-9700 for the past 2 years and till today I havent faced any problem with it but recently, like 3 months back I bought a new bold 4-9900. It was working fine but by the second month it started giving me hangs and it got a bit slow, I know that was expected so I dint really care much but from the past 2-3 days I have been facing a new problem; my bold 4-9900 lock button is not working at all, I have even checked the settings but I could not find any thing related to it, I am really tensed as it has just been 3 months and it has given me problems.
The second problem I have facing is my scroll is not working properly as well, If I am on the menu then I am not able to scroll up or down unless and until I touch the screen. I went and checked the settings as well but no luck, but I did notice that when ever I open something on the right corner EN box appears and I think that is the thing which is not allowing the scroll to move. Please help me out as I dont want to give it for repair.
just bought a brand new bold 9900 yesterday and was feeling all excited about it.however, when i tried to typed messages be it a sms, whatsapp or on bbm, as long as i pressed c, z, m, n or space, the screen will get locked up immediately. tried updating my OS to 7.0 and 7.1 (current) but that doesnt help at all.wondering is the hardware defective or the problems lies with the OS.

This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. The phone is very easily unlocked accidentally as the unlock button sits on top of it, sticking out of the holster. I have even tried placing it upward down into the holster but it still easily unlocks through the holster.
What is the most efficient way to keep the the device locked for back pocket storage? I could set up a password, but as the number of bad password inputs is obviously limited, I also do not want to have accidental password input.
Is there a way to deactivate the unlock button on top and use a key combination instead? Or anything else?

It sometimes comes unfrozen after a while (usually a long time) and sometimes doesn't come back at all and I have to reset it. I find that it consistently and nearly 100% of the time freezes when I lock the keypad when I have accidentally left the wifi connection on. when the wi-fi is off it doesn't usually freeze, the problems mainly when the wifi is active.
