BB Bold :: Receiving Message Alerts When Phone Is Off?
Mar 22, 2012Typically, my phone is set to vibrate when I turn it off at night. I have noticed that it will vibrate when messages are received even when the phone is turned off.

View 4 RepliesI have checked thru all the folders and saved messages folders and I can't find the message anywhere. When I get a new email or SMS/MMS text messages it says I have the number plus 1, but I can't find the message or get rid of the icon. I have looked in all the Instant messaging folders and still can't find the message.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI used to have a Bold 9700. When I listened to music with headphones, incoming message alerts would sound over the music through the headphones. With the 9650, the song pauses, and then the message alert sound comes out of the speaker instead of the headphones, then the music resumes. Is there a setting I am missing here?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a new 9650 running on Verizon, OS 5.0.0.732. Lately there has been an issue with the lock screen not updating the time and some of the message alerts don't appear, until I unlock the phone. This is not the keyboard lock, but the lock that requires a password (corporate IT policy). Is there a way to fix this? The time is set to auto-update from the network. This started a few weeks ago and is very annoying. Sometimes it will update while locked if I activate the screen and let it sit for a minute but other times it won't at all while locked.Anyone else having this issue?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had a Galaxy S6 for about a month now, and for the past two weeks I've been fighting tooth and nail with it to try to fix the issue in the title. I believe (based off what little I've learned from Googling this up) that it's an issue with apps that use push notifications (GCM?) alerts, and includes Facebook messenger, Google Hangouts, Steam chat, TheScore (sports app), and some others. If I'm on my home wi-fi, those alerts MIGHT show up, but 95% likely won't; as soon as I disconnect from my home wifi, I'll get a deluge of alerts that had been 'backed up' and waiting for the chance to be delivered.
This does not happen while on cellular data, and it does not happen on other wi-fi networks from the same ISP.
After Googling the heck out of this, things I have tried include:
* Making sure that the 'keep wi-fi on while asleep' setting is set to always.
* Adding the affected apps to the priority list.
* Having a Samsung employee at Best Buy reinstall the OS. (I think that's what she said she did.)
* Changing my router to a static DNS, pointed at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
* Downloading that DNSet app, though I quickly deleted it both because it didn't seem like it was working, and because I didn't savor the idea of an app sitting in the middle of my data like that.
The handful of other threads I've found with a similar issue have all seemed to devolve down to a single thought: Lollipop (perhaps even specifically Lollipop on Verizon Wireless devices) does not always play well with IPv6 data, though it's entirely possible I've settled on that as the culprit just because it makes me feel better having a specific target in mind.
My router (Netgear C6300) does not seem to have a setting to specifically turn off IPv6 data. Any way to specifically turn off IPv6 usage on a Galaxy S6 without rooting the device?
Is there a way to receive alerts I miss without rooting my nexus 6? Would flash alert apps work?

I just download whatsapp messenger and try it. but after receiving a message, the LED notification was flashing continuosly, even after I read the message and delete ithow, as my battery will drained if the LED is always flashing.I already set the LED notification to OFF in the setting menu, but when I received the message from whatsapp it start to flashing RED again

I have tried the usual "take the battery out and restart" but it still won't work! Also, it has stopped telling me when I have voicemail, but the little sign that I have voicemal never goes.

So I have a Samsung S6 Galaxy through Verizon. I also use the Message+ stock app that Verizon has placed on the phone.
My lock screen is disabled through a 3rd party app (No Lock), so when I previously received a text message, my screen would awaken, and a preview of said text message would show up in the status bar.
Now i had to reset my phone, and upon resetting, my phone will still show the blinking LED light, and make the sound associated with receiving a text message. However the screen no longer lights up, so now if i want to read the test message int the status bar, I have to hit the power button to light up my phone. Very annoying.
I have went through the settings where there used to be a checkbox that said "show preview in status bar and lock screen", but that selection no longer seems to be there. I will also say that if my screen is already awake (either if i'm currently using the phone, or the screen hasn't turned off yet), the preview of the text message DOES show up in the status bar.
I will use another app that just awakes my phone when a notification is received...but i don't want something that has pop-ups, widgets, and the like. I really just want my phone to awaken as it did prior due to the reset, without (seeing at least) any add-on's, etc.
This issue has been happning for a while, but for the last week or so it has been happening more frequently. A phone call arrives and sends the phone into a reset, similar to what QuickPull would do. No open apps, no error message, it just resets.I have searched a bit, but have not found anyone posting a similar issue so far. I run the stock T-Mobile OS, and a few extra RIM and 3rd party apps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLooking at buying this phone, but can anyone tell me if it is possible to assign different ringtones for incoming text messages based on the contact info, similar to, but independent from assigning different ringtones for incoming calls.
For example,
Wife call - ringtone 1
Wife text - ringtone 2
Work (group of contacts) call - ringtone 3
Work (group of contacts) text - ringtone 4
Default (Other) callers - ringtone 5
Default (Other) text - ringtone 6
I used to be able to have different text alert sounds assigned on my old LG325, and just wondering if this phone has a similar feature.I find a lot of phones including my current Samsung Vice have only one ringtone for all text messages, which is annoying because I can't prioritize checking my incoming text messages, and have to look at every message to see if it's important.
Is there an app available that will let me turn all message alerts off at a certain time, then turn them back on automatically at a set time the next morning?

I am facing problem with my cell phone C5.00 which does not gives New Message Alert even all settings are in order. I have got new messages in my inbox but it does not give any Message Alert Tone or popup display for having new message. How to sort it out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that there are times I do not get an audible when the phone is charging. Whether it's with the home charger the phone came with or a car charger (from Verizon), the majority of the time, I do not hear the alert when a message comes in. This has happened to me with all of my Tours (on my 3rd replacement). I do not have any custom ring tones/alerts. All the alerts I use are the ones that come with the phone. I don't have any 3rd party apps which would affect the tones. Does anyone else experience or hear of this? If so is there a fix to this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Tour 9630 with the latest OS installed and 81.1 MB of application memory. The custom ring tones I've set under "Contact Alerts > Phone" work. However, the custom alerts for "Contact Alerts > Messages" don't. I'm supposed to get a sound plus a vibration for certain contacts when in "Phone Only" profile. This doesn't happen.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with the S6 ringtone and message alerts? I copied a folder called media to my S6 when I first updated to 5.1.1 and I could select my ringtone and message alert tone from this folder, but yesterday it went back to default and now i can't select anything in the media folder, coincidentally my video folder i used to be able to see is now not showing in the video player but is there if i browse my files?? Is there a cache clear for the system ringtone notification app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Vivaz no longer alerts me when I get a text, there is no sound or vibration, it is not on silent mode and I've checked in my message settings the volume and that a sound is supposed to play when a text arrives. The envelope that used to show at the top of the screen when I received a text no longer appears either. The only way to know if I've got a new message is to go into my inbox where it appears; the side of the phone will then flash but still no sound. I ran a software update, then a reset and software update, but neither have made any difference. Also am I able to transfer my existing texts to the memory card so I don't lose them if I have to get it all wiped?
View 10 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago, I had an issue where i wasn't getting sms alerts. I put it down to a one off or me just missing them. However, I'ts happened again. My inbox had 3 messages, that I'd not heard a beep for, I had no little envelope icon and no "New Message" alert on the main screen.
As a test, we sent a message to my phone, the message hit the inbox, but there were no notificataions. I changed the profile and sent another text.. same again, no notifications.I rebooted the phone and sent another message.. this time everything worked OK.I'm using a standard message tone as the tone alert..
Anyone have problems making and receiving phone calls having the screen immediately disappear so you can't use speaker mute or flash and other options on the touch screen? This just appeared, phone was working last night well now no touch screen using the phone.Checked all the settings all seems to be OK.This just happens in the phone mode all else is working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of abandoning the I-Phone altogether because of two annoyances that get only worse, not better, with time. But if any newer I-Phone (I currently have the 3GS) has removed these annoyances, I will upgrade.
1. I want txt alerts to continue (every minute or two) until I have opened and read a text message. Does any model I-Phone allow for this?
2. I want to disable predictive text as I don't like the I-Phone algorhthym for this -- it causes me endless grief. Which model allows for this?
3. I want my battery to last a minimum of 2 days without charging (I've tried all the usual ways of reducing battery consumption and the result does not meet my needs). Does any model I-Phone allow for this?

When my phone is dark, in sleep mode after a timeout, I am not receiving any alerts/sounds when I receive an email. The LED light doesn't even light up. I receive alerts for Text Msgs & other "messaging" type apps, just not email. Immediately upon waking up the phone & authenticating, I get the Alert sound & the email msg pops up. This was an intermittent issue prior to the 5.1.1 update (which I had hoped would fix), but NOW it happens every time & is thus worse than before the update. I have tried several email APPS - and they all behave this way. Currently I have K9 Email installed. (I have WiFi enabled & Smart Wifi Search enabled).

I want to silence all alerts (texts, emails, etc) except for phone calls and the alarm like I could with my blackberry. My new iPhone 5c is a huge upgrade from the BB other than the lack of Sound Profiles.Â
I've read a post about plugging the headphones in so that the other alerts play through them, but the phone and alarm still sound out, but this does not appeal to me as I don't typically use earbuds. Matter of fact, the ones that came with the phone are still in the box.Â

I'm using the contact alerts to specify ringtones for the calls. however, i don't want to specify a rington for the messages; i just want to use teh profile default. is there anyway to do this? the problem is, if i don't select any ringtone, it sets one and uses it across txt messages & emails when i always have different ringtones for each.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use SlickTasks and BB Calendar. Past few days I've had a lot going on and can have as many as 8 ST alerts + 3 or so calendar alerts pop up at once. (Don't want it that way, it's just the way it worked out.) Anyway, then by Bold freezes up. Usually under a minute or so, then it finally responds and I can dismiss or delay alerts. Is that too many for the phone to handle? The only thing I've done differently lately is d/l a trial of Calendar Pro last week, but missed the 40% off sale deadline so haven't been using it. No alerts are coming from it.
