May 23, 2010I used to be able to use the trackpad for zooming when taking pictures or recording videos. This has suddenly stopped and I cannot figure out why.

BB Bold 9650 :: Zooming In And Out While Taking Video?
Jul 6, 2010I'm playing around with the video camera on my phone. How do you zoom in and out while recording a video? I've tried moving the track pad up and down but that did not work for zooming in or out. I can zoom in and out just find with the camera for taking photos. Now I just need to figure out how to do this while taking a video.

Jan 6, 2010Does your trackpad move down when you press the bottom of the trackpad? Once it's a bit downwards, I touch the top of the trackpad and it moves back in place.

Feb 28, 2010Just wondering why rim decided not to add any illumination to their trackpads?Is there a reason for this? I just got the 9700 the other day.. and I only noticed this when I was in a dark area last night and everything was lit up nicely but a dark spot in the middle.
Does anyone know if this is how all the future models will be like or do you think there will be added light to future models?only criticism i have about the phone... other then that its amazing

Mar 9, 2010So I had my bold for about 3 months now... I'm always constantly on it; always checking BBM's and text messages. One day I noticed that the cursor would move as I am typing a message. I was like wtf but I ignored it... then it kept happening and I noticed that this only happened when I was outside and had my phone out...
I tried using my phone under my desk lamp and there's nothing wrong it. It's something about the sunlight when I'm using my phone that makes the trackpad move in different directions.
BB Bold 9700 :: Trackpad Super Malfunction
Aug 6, 2010I've had my Black Berry Bold 9700 for a little over a month. During the first couple weeks, I didn't notice that my track pad didn't click. When I realized this I just ignored it because it didn't seem like such a big deal. Well fast forward a couple weeks to today, my phone's track pad has been double clicking with one press. Not only that the clicks have been getting worse and worse. Sometimes I don't have to press anything and it will click automatically. Within the past couple hours of this, it has gotten so bad my phone sent 13 of the same picture under 10 seconds. I took the initiative and took it a part to see whats going on, but nothing I noticed was the cause. Upon reassembling it, and starting it back up the problem is still there, and still getting worse. Ive had my phone for over a month so the warranty has expired. I also don't have insurance to replace the entire phone.

- Updated the software OS 6.
- Done a hard reset.
- Done multiple soft resets.
I also tried cleaning the trackpad with paper (read somewhere that it's the oils on fingers that causes the problem).

Mar 25, 2012I have a Blackberry Bold 9700. It was purchased at Rogers, but it is currently under Koodo's service.The file free on my phone is 86,607,023 Bytes. The applications installed shown is only "FREE Earth Floats Animated Theme" from Mobstar Media Ltd. I'm not entirely sure what BT device model/version means, but if it's Bluetooth, I've never used that (and it is currently disabled according to my phone); however the previous owner may have used it with Rogers.
Now for the question:
Earlier today I dropped my BlackBerry on the floor and when I picked it up, I sent a text. Soon afterwards, my phone would not respond to pressing in (clicking) the trackpad. My phone still allowed me to scroll upwards, downwards, and to either side; the only thing it would not rspond to is pressing the trackpad.I had an epiphany in which I realized that I could simply hit the enter key to do anything (so far) that clicking in my trackpad will do; however, I still would like to be able to press in my trackpad to select options and such.
I read up some articles and they all said to either:1. Remove the battery for a period of time, or remove the battery/memory card/sim card for a period of time. 2. Press the button in 'hard' and this will 'free it up'.I did both of these, but had no luck.
One thing that I thought might help is reinstalling the operating system, but I can't find my cord. I called a friend and he said I could borrow his cord tomorrow, but since no one had suggested this as a potential solution, I didn't want to unecessarily hold off posting about my problem.

Feb 16, 2011I have just updated my phone to the new software via the blackberry desktop software for a mac, as prompted to by the software, but after the update i can not scroll down on the software agreement so I can not use the phone! I downgraded the software version back to 5. something and it works fine. have tried rebooting the device,taking out the battery, re installing 6.0 and nothing seems to work.

Jul 1, 2011This problem just started happening. The trackpad would scroll without any problems, but pressing it down (to select) will not work. It does have tactile feedback, and you can feel the button depress, but on the phone, nothing happens.I've tried everything (hard resets, soft resets, battery pulls, etc) but it still doesn't work.I was starting to get used to just hitting the Enter button on the keyboard until my girl turned of the 'Mobile Networks' in the radio menu somewhere. When you're trying to turn it back on using the enter key, all it does is go to the next selection. I am quite experienced with these phones and I have replaced the trackpad on these phones before, but right now my girl has it and she's off island.

Mar 6, 2010I did an OS update from my computer and when that didn't work pushed a complete wipe and reinstall with JL_Cmder. That sorted out the WSOD issues however the trackpad will now only work as a push button and not to scroll. I sent it off to be looked at by my carrier and they said water damage but I'm 100% certain it's not having looked at the parts myself as well as having been ridiculously careful with it: basically just think they are trying to avoid a replace on warranty!

Apr 23, 2010Is there a direct relationship between the size of the applications being loaded on the Blackberry and the amount of free memory? I had around 90 MB of free space on the device, and then proceeded to load a handful of applications. I haven't done the exact math, but I think I loaded around 5 MB of applications. The free memory has gone down by around 15 to 20 MB. Is there some sort of file management issue that "wastes" memory on the Blackberry? I have tried all the usual tricks to free up memory - running Memory Cleaner, running Memory Booster, clearing all cached items in various applications, pulling the battery. Still, free memory remains below 70 MB.

It's a bit annoying to have to drag the screen back and forth when reading.I've had this 9900 for just about two weeks and I'm somewhat disappointed. This comes from a guy who, after using a BlackBerry device for four years, switched to Android last year, and could only dream of another BlackBerry.This thing is glitchy (if I brush the volume/mute buttons even lightly, it fires off a bunch of letters, it's crashed already a couple of times) and ridiculously slow when compared to my old Android device. If I had actually paid the $599 recommended retail device, I would have immediately demanded my money back and just learned to live with the crappy Android keyboard.Plus, T-Mobile has yet to provide update 7.1, allowing me to use the wi-fi hotspot capabilities, which I used REGULARLY on my Android for over a year..No WONDER RIM is in so much trouble.

Sep 11, 2010Living 5 mins. away from RIM in Waterloo I got myself a BB Bold 9700 2 weeks ago. Dataplan and everything from Rogers. Much to my aggravation I'm unable to send photos via MMS - I'm sure I'm doing it right as I followed the instructions while on the phone w. the IT BB specialist at the University of Waterloo. I was able to send a photo to her but to nobody else which includes a BB user neighbour, my son on Telus in Vancouver, a friend w. a Bell plan on a Palm. What gives? I could send a photo lickety split on my previous Motorola and I didn't even have a data plan. I'm sooooo frustrated. I tried to send the MMS with the photo in the "small" picture setting.
