I have a new BB9700. With desktop manager i uploaded ubertwitter, over internet installed some gmail apps (gmail, google maps). While instaling ubertwitter the forth action of install in deskop manager could not be completed, it was not moving, so I cancelled it. Everything worked fine for a while.
Then, while typing a messege into blackberry messenger the phone went totally blank (white screen,), the hard reseted itself and after initialisation, it went into begginers setup. From then, when you cancel the setup it shows in the first line BlackBerry Platform 5.1.0.90 and a list of BB apps, address book, ATTMusic, BrickBreaker, Calculator, Calendar and so forth. When you click on any of them it says: "Error starting net_rim_bb_file_explorer; module "net rim_bb_browser_lib not found." Or similar.
The only thing that works are calculator, memo, password keeper and options. With options I can access application list and delete some of them if necessary.
All the settings in options are erased to starting options. What is also interesting is that I can return phone calls after I get a missed call. The phone does not ring, it is muted, but I get a notice of a missed call and I can the return the call.Does that mean that failuire of the desktop manager to complete the forth action cause BB to completly erase everything? Does it mean I need to reactivate the phone (BES) and start from scratch?
I entered the password three times wrong , then the blackberry asked me to enter "Blackberry" to continue , and it refuses to change the typing language - my blackberry is arabic ! and i think the problem is in the arabic bold 9700 blackberry devices
I'm trying to update my BB bold 9700 to 6.0 bundle 1879 (v6.0.0.448 platform 6.6.0.124), when it reaches the modules backup 156 of 660 it says: Application Loader was unable to backup data on your device.
When I connect other BB, I can see in the DM that there is a 6th icon called IP modem to connect as a wireless internet IP modem, but how come in my 9700 I can't do that?
Am using a Bold 9700 os v5.0.0.344 with DM v5.0.1.18 (Aug 21, 2009) on my notebook running vista 32bit When I click on the IP icon on the DM, I get this error message below: "Unable to detect configured Blackberry IP modem device. Please verify your desktop installation is configured correctly and restart the desktop." Tried installing and uninstalling many many times but to no avail. Can anyone out there shed some light?
I have a Bold 9700 recently bought about 4 days ago... At first all the communication channels works fine i.e. Mobile Network, Wifi and Bluetooth. Suddenly this morning the wifi stop working. I'm unable to switch the wifi on even clicking on it many times. Tried to turn off the device and remove the battery for about a minute and still the problem is not solved.
I woke up in the middle of the night and saw my bberry at the start up screen with the white bar. It was at the 75%. I don't recall installing any apps before i slept which would require a reboot. So, i pull out the battery and reinsert it. It was still stuck at 75%. Tried it a few times this morning and still at the start up screen. I need help ASAP!
I called T-Mobile and they said a file is corrupted and would need to send me a replacement. Is there anything i could do?
Is it possible to use the charging pod for BB Bold 9700 (as shown in the Crackberry shop) with a BB Bold 9700 which has a silicone skin cover? I am not quite clear how the pod works.

I am using BB Bold 9700. I restored my data on my fone via BDM, since after that my device reboots automatically.
I have tried removing battery, also changed battery, i wiped the entire device also but it is still the same problem. While using anything it reboots by self.
does anyone know of a program i can download that allows me to open certain websites when is says "The page you requested could not be loaded; it is too large for this device."?
I was travelling with a friend who is using Storm 2. We were comparing our devices and founf that at certain area the Storm 2 signal is on 3G with the bb logo but my Bold 9700 signal shows EDGE. But when I change the option at Mobile Network to 3G only, my Bold 9700 is able to lock the signal to 3G, however when I change back Mobile Network to 3G & 2G it goes back o EDGE (not immediately though).
I am currently running OS .680.... Is there a fix to the problem above or it is a known Bold 9700 issue or a known .680 issue. I have not try this with previous OS so not sure if it will acted differently.Any opinion. Am considering downgrading the OS but will wait for feedback first.
I tried to download it, the download is denied with "unsupported device", while according to other information on the site, the device, country, provider etc. is supported. When trying other applications on the site, all the downloads are denied too. I get redirected to "download AppWorld" or to "have it emailed to yourself". Accessing this email from the blackberry finally redirects me to the "unsupported device" page again. I also tried to download it with a web browser, the site says it isn't possible. They require Internet Explorer. So I started kvm, and tried this (in violation of any security policies). There are more requirements, ActiveX, clicking popups away, and cycling through some pages a few times. Then it tells me I need an USB driver to download. But I don't download via USB, I download via the internet? When on the blackberry, I tried WLAN and EGDE, it doesn't work with any.
Just wondering what the normal free memory should be on the 9700? I am running 5.0.0.545 and have ubertwitter, aim, msn, bbtran, yahtzee tiger woods 2009 wordsearch facebook google maps compass, fmylife, textsfromlastnight, shazam, tetherberry, kayak, movies, weathereye, monopoly here and now, tetris and texttwist installed. Sounds like lots of apps buut they are all under 1mb.
I have got a Bold 9700 running with a firmware which does not seem to be branded from a speciel provider, nor locked to any provider. In that case I guess it is a pure RIM firmware which is installed. Does anyone know where I can get the RIM firmwares instead of installing a branded release?
mine has around 120mb free wheb purchased new. is this about right. i thought it had twice that? i assume the system takes a bit of it? but then i saw a Internet video and the guys bb is loaded with apps and still got 130mb free. search in Internet "blackberry 9700(onyx) over review". why is that? makes me wonder. is it cuz his is a tester model?
Do I really need to reserve before it becomes an issue. I have a fair amount of free and paid apps, probably between 15-20. Right now, I am at 86 MB remaining. How low have some of you gotten before you notice any kind of problems? I have an 8GB SD card for pics, music, etc., so plenty of room there.
I'm a little surprised for as advanced as this device is that you only get 256MB of space (much less than that, really) for applications. Kinda reminds me of the problem the Nintendo Wii had, where they had an SD card slot, but you couldn't save and programs on it until they did a firmware update later on.
AFTER A MONTH WITH THE 9700 I JUST RAN THE SWITCH DEVICE WIZARD TO PORT SOME APPS AND SUCH FROM CURVE 8310.NOW EVERYTHING ON THE 9700 LOOKS LIKE THE 8310 AND I LOST ALL MY SMS/E-MAILS/ETC BUT THE APPS HAVE ALL SWITCHED OVER(EVEN THE THEME IS NOW FROM THE 8310)I THOUGHT I HAD A HANDLE ON THIS BUT APPARENTLY DO NOT - RAN THE SWITCH BACK WIZARD ONLY TO BE IN THE SAME BOAT AS BEFORE.HOW BAD IS THIS AM I COMPLETELY UNABLE TO RESTORE MY ORIGINAL 9700 SETTINGS?
I have been having issues with device software version 586. I have been getting uncaught exception with the phone. As well as my calendar and task do not merge any more. I have decided to downgrade back to version .330 until the bugs are worked out. Is anyone aware of this?
Some where along the line I did something and I cannot remeber what it was, when I used to attache the USB cabel I would be asked if I want to use the device as a mass storage device, I don't get asked that any more. There was also something that puts my phione in to bedside mode when charging, I set this, but I cannot remember where I set it.
Does anyone notice that the standby mode does not work with software? Also the to do list cannot be seen on the calendar. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Recently I have bought blackberry 9700 bold from O2 network in UK and it is blocked. Actually it is a contract mobile so they will not tell me the way how to unlock it until the contract finishes. So can any one tell me can i unlock it in free?
I updated the software of my BB Bold 9700 from ver 5.0 to ver 6.0 Bundle 2475. Now when i restart my device, it works well for around a minute but then it gets hanged and I cant use it any further. I tried connecting it with BB Desktop Software but the problem still persists. One of the reason for this could be inadequate phone memory. So is there any way I can get back to ver 5.0 now?
Im the unfortunate user of BB9700. I m unable to turn off the camera flash and it stays very bright even the device is turned off.. I pulled out the battery many times and also updated the OS, but still the problem remains same.
My Bold 9700 is not showing old messages in the device. It does however, show that they are there but only in draft mode without ANY DATA in them what so ever. I don't know what caused this but I updated, Facebook, Twitter, App World and WhatsAPP lately. I also deleted BB Maps as the device was running low on application memory. Now the Application center on trying to populate/update the list shows Error 404.there are some really important messages that I'd like to recover.I do have a back-up of the device but will restoring to the back-up delete my current messages (the ones after the back-up)?
I've had my AT&T Blackberry Bold 9700 since November of 2009 and am just experiencing this problem. My device is set so the back light goes off after 20 seconds. Whenever I put it down or lock it, the back light goes off just as it should. But, within 5-10 minutes, it turns back on without provocation and won't shut off again until I unlock and re-lock the phone.
As you can imagine, this is killing my battery life. I've tried playing with the settings, but nothing seems to do the trick. I've rebooted several times and removed the battery twice, but neither has worked. Anyone encounter this issue and/or have any suggestions on how to fix it?
